Anyone grown Darkstar from Thseeds?

T

Terlihat

Got a couple as freebies but both males, going to keep one for breeding. Looking pretty indica with wide leaves.
Anyone flowered any of these?

I actually used the darkstar and mk ultra in my last breeding projects.

Great genetics and don't forget that once you make your first cross to then cross the brothers and sisters and you will have a whole huge assortment of pheno hunting to do from then on.

I'm going to cross the Darkstar with KC Brains Northern Lights Special and with Chimera's C-Plus F2's.
Should be intersting to see how they turn out.

yes just remember when doing crosses to remember that your first cross will usually look the same however there are a TON of hidden gems to be found in the filial crossing after the fact.

I had a darkstar out grow my room, put her outside and a critter knocked her over. Soil covered the top cola. I saved her and the top turned sex and polinated the lower bud sites. The seeds she produced, im growing now. Should I find a male and female brother and sister should i cross them? I was thinking of crossing them with maple leaf indica, good idea?

You might still get mainly hermies, as it's obviously a hermie plant.
Probably not good to breed with as hermies are going to keep popping up in subsequent generations.

I check for hermies daily, nothing yet. I did have a Kosher kush drop nuts and all low in the undergrowth Is that low light stress?

The Darkstar top cola was fractured and covered in soil for over a day. The lower branches that got light and below the stem fracture produced no nuts. From what I have read any plant whould have sex change as a result of shock. Any other comments are helpful.

Sometimes what one thought were hermies are feminised seeds.............

Sometimes what one thought were hermies are feminised seeds.............

I would just like to point something out that I have noticed is not talked about very much these days regarding female plants that produce pollen sacks. Sometimes this is a last ditch effort on the plants part to reproduce and can leave you with FEMINISED seeds.
Your plant having pollen sacks is not always a bad thing. I remember reading this in the Growers Guide many years ago.
What jumps out at me, from memory, is that if this is the genuine occurrence you will only see pollen sacks on, perhaps one or maybe two buds. I know that a lot of you guys will be up to speed on this too. A female plant has only two chromosomes, a pair of the same, say YY, a male has, let's say XY.
So this means that the female plant, working with female chromosomes only is capable and, in fact produces 100% feminised seeds if it pollinates itself rather.
I recognise the fact that some strains show hermaphroditic tendencies, this refers more to stabilised strains that do not show these traits.
Hermaphroditic tendencies can be a result of an environment that is not optimum or many other varying factors which I am sure can come right down to nutrient intake, hormonal imbalances and other aspects of hydroponics that we do not understand yet.
I just wanted to make the point that sometimes your hermaphrodite is the golden goose!

I had one darkstar as a freebie, it was very low yielding but the taste was great and the effect very stony indica, not a daytime smoke for sure :p

I grew it last summer and it was killer. I wish I woulda kept a clone from the one pheno
that smelled like pure skunk. I mean I reaked. The buds didn't get huge but they were dense as hell. I loved it and I would recommend it to anyone.

Is it a Hermie if the plant grows bananas only after extraordinary stress, like having dirt on the main cola ?

I wonder if that's a reliable creator of non-hermie S1 seeds, like Colloidal Silver.

Idk if this helps but my buddy's dad grew a ten pack and it smelt eerily similar to my deathstar cut. With the name being that close to deathstar I assumed it almost cliche / too obvious to be a deathstar ripoff, but once it was cured it had the same cherry skunk smell it just lacked the kerosine funk. So if u can't access a good team deathstar cutting then by all means, seems a very close substitute

for the people who have grown death star or multiple deathstars would you say its mostly a stinky plant because i remember one growing that had little smell aside from the average weed smell when rubbed ?
