Recommended books?

Quick thread here. Hoping to get some books recommended for a better understanding of organic growing. I try to pull as much information as I can from these forums but as the conversation gets deeper I find myself getting lost. I am new to organics but I find this subject fascinating and at times downright exciting! I've read George's Medical Grow Bible, Rev's TLO and Lowenfels' Teaming With Microbes. Planning on getting Teaming With Nutrients next but anymore suggestions would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Well I thought this was a thread about grow books... I don't know how many threads I started and how many times someone said "do a search" or "read a book", but mostly told me to search. I figured, "you anal... (fill in the blanks), you take all that time to smother me in bullshit when you could have just told me what I wanted to know and we both would have saved time, and we could have liked instead of despised each other! Maybe i am busy, maybe I have issues that prevent me from searching effectively, or maybe I am a lazy scum or don't have the time to read 10,000 pages while my plant die! Regardless, yes questions that have been answered in the past keep getting asked, but what good is a forum if everyone refers you to some damn encyclopedia or something and never talks?" ;) So I fear or feel for you, like this is an uphill battle, and I still have a lot to learn so hopefully we both learn something! Thank you for creating this thread instead of me creating another that goes to like 100 views before an answer and then gets like 3 total answers besides my 10. :D I truly wish you the best of luck. and I hope someone can recommend some good grow books.

The books I listed will further your organic understanding and allow you to grow better all around. You won't get issues with your plants of your soil and Compost is spot on. For books about growing. Ed Rosenthal has a few decent books for beginners but. As with most Marijuana grow books. There is endless misinformation and commercial interest. Red fang what do you have in your collection so far? Anything by Robert connel Clark is a must.

another thing I noticed is thread starters starting threads and never responding in them. ok I am in a paranoid state here forgive me, the dude started the thread what yesterday? :D sorry antrim no disrespect intended.

What do I have? I don't know, I am a seedaholic, I have stuff from the late 90's to now. I have most MNS strains. I have a whole bunch of seedbay stuff that struck my fancy at the time and now wonder wtf I got half of them for. I have federation ISS, most peak seed strains, and well, I have to get back on you if you want more specifics but have just over 2000 or is it just over 3000 seeds now. I know others have professed to far more, but this is more than I can handle for some time and I probably ain't close to done yet! Couldn't resist a Sanctuary Test too. Thanks for the organic book advice and for your good natured curiosity, as that is what I tried to express.

Permaculture handbook, Marijuana botany, Marijuana pest and disease control, hashish, teaming with microbes /nutrients, gardening indoors, cannabis grow Bible, breeders Bible, tlo revs book meh, Marijuana horticulture, Marijuana garden saver, Worms eat my garbage, backyard homestead. Growing organic vegetables and herbs for market. Those are a few in the library. Strain wise I ain't got that much worth noting. Black lime, cdsr, cherry private, Phantom cookies and a hash plant. Few hundred seeds from crosses I will be working on next year but.

There are very few decent grow books designed with cannabis in mind. Most of them are shit. Cannabis related books worth reading are almost entirely by Robert Clarke: Marijuana Botany(good but outdated), Hashish!, and his new tome with Mark Merlin of University of Hawaii at Manoa, "Cannabis Ethnobotany", which is worth every pretty penny it costs. It's full of more information than you need. Also, his book on hemp pests with a couple other authors.

Thanks guys! The Intelligent Gardener has been on my "to read" list. I'll definitely be checking that one out, as well as the Mini-Farmers Guide to Composting. Sorry for the slow response. I don't get to sit down at the computer very much on the weekend, but during the week I practically live on this site. I have found that most grow books specifically geared towards marijuana lack in detail and are made to make money for the author rather than to inform readers. I've heard mixed reviews on The Rev. The guys at my grow shop seem to love him but just about everybody that knows their shit on here think he's a joke. I've found my knowledge is growing faster than I can implement it. Now I've got two huge garbage cans full of SubCool's SS mix that I'd rather trash to go with LC's mix. Hahaha! Oh well. Lesson learned. Thanks for all the responses! I'm sure I'll get around to reading all the suggested books eventually. This community is great and has taught me so much already. Can't wait until I'm more secure in my knowledge so I can help beginners after me. Thanks again!

Oh you meant book wise! ;) I have the cannabis botany book, the indoor Jorge Cervantes (same guy I heard) book, the old original Rosenthal/Frank book with pages falling out of it and I think an updated version too. Really most of that is just common sense, I have learned more on here than from any book (despite my inability to sit for long and read too much before being distracted away from it) and learned most of all from my mistakes.

I use ICMag to learn as much as I can but inevitably the conversation goes to chelated nutrients, cations, etc. and I'm completely lost. I was just hoping to grab some books that would ease me into these terms and more advanced growing styles so I didn't have to bother people with dummy questions. Your suggestions have been great. The two I mentioned earlier are ordered and on their way. Thanks again guys! Can't wait to learn from my next mistake! Hahaha!

"Cannabis Botany" is Rob Clarke; it was his thesis paper for his botany degree. Jorge Cervantes is definitely a different guy.

are you sure? I am fairly certain Jorge admitted his real name is Rob Clarke. anyway, like Antrim said, some of us quickly get lost too quick and need things simplified!

Jorge Cervantes is George f van patten.
