air pots and coco

Is it ok to use air.pots with coco? Is there anything to worry about? I would like to use air pots but don't know if it causes problems with drying it out to much on sides. I don't mind nutrient cost as much right now. Just want to, keep everything healthy.

I love air pots and coco! I think they are better for coco then for soil.

When i grew in soil its was a pain to water them with lots of water running out thruu the holes, that never happens with coco.
Just water daily if you are worried about them drying, i hand water my coco air pots 2-3 times per day :)

They just leak coco everywhere. It's not like the coco just runs through, but you're going to be emptying more than just water in your runoff.

I'd recommend fabric planters like Smart Pots instead. They are easier to use, more versatile, longer lasting, easier to find, build huge root systems through air pruning, etc, etc. Kind of all the way around a better product. That's why there's only one guy making Air Pots that no major distributor carries, while there are a dozen fabric planter companies out there.

Use the coupon code "Pots10" and you'll get 10% off on Smart Pots. They've been running it for like 2 months...

I have a friend who averages over 2ps a light with airpots. I have never used them, but next round I am going to be running 3 alongside 3 plastic pots and 3 smart pots to determine which I like better. I have been using smart pots, but I am not really liking them. As far as fabric pots, the geopots look a lot nicer. They have a reinforced ring around the top to help keep them from folding over and the handles look nicer too. I haven't used those either though.

airpots and coco work just fine!

a tip is when you transplant be sure to pack the pot well, shake it, tap it down on the ground so that the coco fills up all the gaps.

This is something that has been absolutely hounding me... Hounddogg.

Why handles? I'm a very "low-stress" kind of grower. My experiences have led me to avoid moving my plants around.

So what's with the handles?

GeoPots, Awesome Pots, and GroPro's all have pretty good fabric. Root's Organics Root Pots are tearable in your hands, but super cheap and fine in 1-3 gallons if you don't plan on reusing them.

I use the handles when I transport from my veg room to my flower room or when we transport them outside to the greenhouse. I don't like to do it with the fabric pots because it looks like it disturbs the root mass. That's part of the reason I am trying out the air pots and plastic pots. Hopefully less stress when moving them and also some of the fabric pots like to drain out the sides and I worry that they aren't getting flushed as well.

I could never transplant with fabric pots, but I'm running the geo pots and it has Velcro down the side for easier transplant.

I've had good luck with Earth Juice Aero Bags. Used multiple cycles. No problems with putting them thru the washer. Not saying they're the only good ones, but they're good. -granger

I don't see how blue mats are even good for cannabis if it liked were and dry cycles. Not like you can put them on timers.

You DONT want wet and dry cycles in coco my friend, well not if you want the best result. Water 3-8times per day in coco is the way to go and this is where the blumats rocks! A dripper system on timer beats hand watering as well and everything is better then ever ketting your coco dry out.

Coco IS NOT soil :)

Good input. What happens if it dries out?

Ph can fuck up big time but most of the times nothing really happens.

You CAN treat coco just as soil and get soil like result. But if you wanna use coco to it fullest then multiple watering every day is the way to go. Its like a hydro medium you see.

You should really read all the stickys in the coco section here, thats a shit load of good info on how to grow in coco.

best of luck friend

And if you already have air pots then use ém. No matter what some peeps says...they are awesome in every way. I have used them for years now.

I find that if I cram the coco into the pot base/walls then the complaint of water streaming thru the holes while hand watering is negated. I find them superior to fabric/smart pots. Especially when it comes time to removing media.
