Rough gig being a judge for this Cup. A majority of indica entries, couple hybrids, and a handful of sativas tested positive for mold. Yummy.

For a Cup contest, no less. Imagine what some of these growers produce just to pay the bills.

And yet people wonder why some of us insist on growing our own.

Congrats to JW for another victory with his pride and joy.

I wonder if they knew there was mold?

The only dangerous thing about herb is what gets on it while growing.
pesticides, mold... come on man!

Keep it clean and green.

Pretty sure the testing is done first and anything not up standards are not up for further consideration, in other words not smoked.

At least I would hope so.

When were judges provided samples for scoring?
It appears the samples were tested on 7/20 by iron lab

At the SF med high times cup last month, I was told ht employees and "a small group of select med patients" scored the samples, is this how it was done at MI HT Cup?

Well since I know a lot of people out here in the community, I know a lot of the winners and judges.... At least two of the judges were dispensary owners that didn't submit any entries. I know them personally and they aren't exactly the best judges of herb... I'm friends with leaf doctor as well. He placed twice other than the glue. Including 2nd place sativa for his gth 1, which tests at 27%. He has own tons of awards with RD strains. Was happy to see the company rack up two more medals from random people growing out moonshine's seeds. The cup was just like any other cup only smaller, I wish I had entered some oil and my triangle kush flowers. Oh well, you live and you learn.

And the judges got the samples any time between the 19th and 21st I believe. I know 17th and 18th was spent bagging and tagging the judges packs.

With just the Hybrid's HT made 25K just for entree fee's. Add that to all the rest of the entries and the booth cost of 1500$ for ea or more plus the ticket price... They make alot of money but make cups you would find at a toy store..

Do you know how much it costs to rent the venue hire security pay for the permits to throw the event , sanitation , advertising ...because it isn't just through high times , and so on & so forth ? Yes they do make money .... But events like this are far from cash cows.

Y'all remember these are the same folks that sold the cup out for years.

In the states they don't have too.
We have enough idiots here willing to waste $1000 entering moldy weed.

I think PF's point here is that they could come up with a better trophy, or "cup".

Pay a local glass blower in each state to blow a nice glass cup or something other than a cheap looking piece of crap.

See, I get it Hammer.:tiphat:

that's correct TC..They make alot more money than what you think they do. If they didn't make the kind of money they do there would not be a HT event every 3 months. you don't have a clue what there making.

Hey all, I modified the link slightly and this page is MUCH easier to read/comprehend

http://www.ironlabsllc.co/view/members.php?id=652
- click on the top option "HIGH TIMES CANNABIS CUP MI 2014: RESULTS VISIBLE"
- then click on statistics if you'd like (can drill down into flowers, concentrates, etc)
- then click "results" when your done looking at charts and want to see individual entries.
- OR just CLICK HERE and close the Popup window

Hope this helps,
BeL

WOW that is so much better! Thanks. I knew my link sycked but the info was awesome. I figured someone would find a better way to navigate it as long as they knew the info was there. Good job and thanks again for helping and not just blowing it off as a shitty link. :tiphat:

Yeah you put some errl...or ground up herb right on the coil. I have a few, just not exactly like the one you have. Here's the link to the site-http://www.dabstix.com/product-p/waterperkattatchment.htm......They aren't very clear on the site either. It is a percolator with a sneak-a-toke attachment and looks to have 510 threading so battery mods should work with it.

Thanks F2, I have another unit that I use for oil. It has the same battery and threads but the part where the oil goes is not even the same as the dabstix. I'm waiting for them to respond with some instructions. It says not for beginners but this things is not even for experts if it continues to not work.. I did put some bubble on the coil it did work but not sure if that's correct way to operate it.
