Coco - Perlite - Smart Pot - Hempy Bucket

The difference is the plastic pot will hold the water and the fabric pot will have roots growing out of it into the reservoir..IMO the fabric pot will do better...roots get airpruned instead of overgrown in a plastic bucket!.

That is what I was thinking too. Best of both worlds, the air pruning of the smart pot or spring pot, as you will, and the reservoir of the hempy bucket.

Or re-reading, he might have been referring to hempy buckets, which would likely be plastic pots essentially.

Plastic bucket is pretty much the same as plastic pot, so yes, I agree with your suggestion that he is comparing the fabric pot to a plastic bucket and thinks that the fabric pot will work better than the hempy bucket, if the fabric pot has a two inch reservoir.

The SmartPots stand directly on and in the plasticbowl.

I was thinking that you would still have the hole two inches up from the bottom in your plastic bowls either way. Your way, the two inches of reservoir is in the bag and the roots are kept in the bag. In my suggestion the roots would grow out through the bottom of the bag into the medium (clay balls, lava rock, or perlite, or similar) and there would be two additional inches of room for roots.

In theory, either way should work fine. You'll have to let us know how it works in practice.

Hey Sforza, I understand what you meant about the 2 inch MORE root developement... álso about this I thought, but once I take off the tank (for flushing or whatever), and already roots grown inside the medium, it`s gonna be a mess... and getting them back into the medium... difficult. I wanted the rootball in the smart pot.

So right now, the clones were transferred to the 3gal SmartPots 1 to 2 weeks ago, before in 1gal SmartPots (without a tank).
Since 1 week they get a 20/4 rythm under a 400W Philips HPI-T and this for 7-10 days more.
Right now they get about 2 - 2,5 liters every second day (ca 30% runoff) - the biggest plants` tanks are almost empty, so I think about switching to every day watering.

They grow like hell!!!

Exactly...

If you're in coco, you should water daily to runoff for maximum oxygenation/growth.

Completly agree... We water 5-6 times a day for a min but were in Coco aeration formula...
That also gets into more detailed nutrient regiments and formulations
