It's not a complicated theory but it will take a while to put together what I'm saying and it's too late tonight, and I'm busy this weekend. But I was thinking about this before while I was looking in on my own room and I was thinking about the similarities between this cut and one of my own plants and some of the things it does, and why I believe it does it.

I think certain genetics do represent a little bit more difficult a grow in terms of getting them spot on, or at least as good as they were from seed/fresh clone.

When before I was talking about overfeeding, that still applies to the pictures I was talking about.

But this isn't anything to do with that and I don't think is a beginner error to make. I don't think I made that point when I was talking about it before; but the whole thing about experienced growers making basic mistakes doesn't apply to this, because I think this is one of the nuances of growing. It's not a basic point IMO, even though it might on the face of it seem like it is.

But when I get the chance I'll break it down and explain properly.
It's focused specifically on the clone at it's earliest stage and shortly after, and what growth it's exhibiting at a very early age, as well as the type of clone being taken and used for the runs in which dud are showing up.

Has anyone got a picture of the clones at the point when they were taken?

* or of any fresh ones they've got now?

Whoever has had the most experience of duds in their room, show us the clones you are working with now for your next grow.

cool! let er rip. remember to include the "less than five year old phenomena" in your theory. im onlly saying that because none of the cultural practices suggested as of yet include an explanation for that really crucial aspect of it.
I think I've got a pretty good idea what the problem is you know fellas.

Haven't got time right now to explain but I will. And it's nothing to do with any virus or bacteria and it is, in my opinion, something completely unrelated and nothing to do with feeding.

I have just been lurking waiting for all the test results to come in, I really hope someone gets a duded gg4 or sour dub into the mix just so I know for a fact its what we are dealing with.

Are we mostly in agreement that the dud phenomenon is some how correlated with broad mites?

Broad & cyclamen mites cause duds. Of that there is no question. However, there are other "types" of duds with other possible causes, all of which are not fully understood. Hence, this thread.

I'm mostly silent in this thread because I have nothing NEW to contribute....and it only serves so much purpose to re-state and re-word the same old thing over and over - my thoughts on the matter were documented on this site back in 2012 or so...maybe sooner, don't know exactly...

BUT...

I think it is a wrong direction to use the terminology [dud] in the plural sense. In my most honest of opinions, if the test results don't come off a Sour Dubb clone - one in which most of the plant was perfectly fine and only a couple branches failed to perform - we will get a million different test results to correlate with a million different environmental factors all of which will be just as inconclusive as this thread...

------

I truly think, what we need is a few people (scientists, if you will allow the use of such a term) to take on the Sour Dubb cut - and to continue to flower it out until they see the occurrence of a TRUE dud - and not just the random under performing grow room in which the not so humble can't fess up to the fact they don't have a perfect rig...

I'm sick and tired of the calling wolf routine...if this isn't happening with Sour Dubb or one of her direct descendents, I think anything you have to say is moot.

You don't solve any epidemic by look at zone 300 - you start at zone 1. You start at the beginning to gain relevant, specific origin data. You start at the first point of conception. In the case of the "dudd" - that was the Dubb...

So, please, let's focus on ONE thing - and progress from the same set point - rather than trying to set data points all over the Bermuda Triangle in the hopes that just maybe it'll make some kind of sense....eventually...

I have like over 50 different dud plants just sitting in a tub waiting to be burned or out of all the plant material make like 1/8th of hash out of it...but for real... I have some pretty ugly Duddlings just chillen.... Im down to send them for testing...

Somebody instruct me on where to send it ...what to send... and all the good stuff...

** Bro Science Note**

Oxytetracycline foliar and drenches have provided me for the first time ever.. an entire tray of cuts with thick roots...fat leaves...an no sign of DUD... I do not recommend the use of Antibiotics.. But I can say for sure its doing something productive to counter the DUD nastiness...

I read thru a couple pages and couldn't find my answer,

Is this "dud" thing from clones only or can you get it from seed?
If one plant has it can it spread thru the crop?

Reason I ask is because I have a mutant from seed lol not sure if it's a dud or a underachiever but something is up with it

Oxytetracycline... Duly noted. I've got 3 Sour Dubb babies rooted up and vegging out sslloooww and I'll continue to grow it until I encounter a dud.. When and if that happens I'll also gladly send in material to a lab of some kind if someone would point me in the direction of one capable of such tests.

I just hope that I can at least get a few NON dud rounds in with her as I dearly miss what little smoke of it I have had... Such flavor.

That's a an awesome Lab RetroGrow

Is there anyway I can avoid this :

"Shipments of plant and soil samples originating from the state of California have to include a copy of our State diagnostic permit 2762. "

a lot of times that shit is just required for them to keep on file for oversight in the event of an audit. in other words forge it and theyll stick in a drawer where it will likely fossilize before its ever looked at again. its not like the lab will verify or even have access to do so.
