tomatoes need a way lowed ph than cannabis... however, you should be able to pull off a complete crop of hops no problem

also, harvesting this weekend... my bubba x deepchunk cross is leaking sap, first time iv seen that... pretty sure its the +Size

the V&B tent with GG4's isn't harvested yet , but it'll be a close test i'm sure , cuz canna was the best nutes i've used for letting the true taste of the weed come out . it didn't muddy up the taste like some nutes do . we'll see pretty soon :)

Any progress on a V+B vs Canna taste test?

to be honest ...... i really didn't see much differences in taste from canna grown bud & V&B grown bud . canna has always given me the best tasting weed , not muddy or harsh from the chems & V&B is doing the same thing . i'm hitting my SFV in flower now with the +size ..... so i'm hoping that doesn't change the flavors either . but i won't have any canna grown to compare it to side by side .

did the gg4 get run with the plus size?

the V+B & +size together might be voodoo black magic, depending on the plant

its good to hear the gg4 flavor profile doesnt change between canna and V+B... really that says more about the level V+B is at, when you consider they are 'new' to the game

Excellent to hear. Im sure you said already but I couldnt find what version of V+B your using. Original R.O.....Dirty?

I switched back to the R.O version after trying Dirty because of the solubility / settling out issue I was having with the Dirty. I hand water so it wasnt a huge issue to mix & water but...something about it bugged me.

Once again it's probably not a big deal but I liked the original R.O. formula a little better. The new R.O. version is sort of halfway between the Dirty & early R.O version as far as solubility goes IMO

no they were just straight V&B last run , but this run thats in for 16 days so far will be hit with the plus size , & i dropped the strength back a little bit too . not going over 1.4 EC this time with the GG . Third coast ran his at an EC of no higher than 1.2 EC & has had the best run of it i've seen so far outa everybody thats running it .
so i'll give it a shot ..... as long as no weird Defs show like they can with low doses of V&B . Rives & I both had weird defs in veg when the V&B was fed to low .

I'm in straight Canna Coco with RO/DI water 0 EC , so i use the RO formula & haven't even opened my bottle of calmag sense i went back to the V&B .

yeah i liked the original RO formula better too . i think i got a bad batch when he was switching things around back then & I went back to canna cuz the RO batch just wouldn't jive with my water , was having all kinds of problems , but the last 3 5lb containers have been good , but yeah you can tell something is different . the mixed rez has a black sediment in the bottom after awhile , hasn't seemed to really effect anything other than my OCD & my need for a clean rez

you use it for 4 weeks ??? i was just going to use it like a PK booster at week 5 (10 week strain ) for 1 rez fill which lasts 4 days . no ????

i gotta go look at the web site to see what they recommend .

What the website recommends doesn't matter as much as what you think is a better formula for a bloom feed. All the companies differ in how they recommend to feed during flower. Some say put extra pk in at one point, others say use it right through flower, some recommend high P, others high K... It's about what you think makes the most sense and what your results are when using a high P vs high K vs feed.

Off the top of my head, if you mix maxibloom and maxigrow 50/50, you come out with something like 7-10-14... best of both worlds maybe?

Anyone else recommended the 4 grams Dirty/1 gram Tap/hard combo? I'm trying it on a room and it is growing out of control. I'm also using the new grow media as well so that might be making a difference but holy shit this is the most vigorous run to date. I underestimated how much things would grow in the first week of flower on this one but think I can wrangle em' in.

what media are you using?

kinda looks like rockwool in the buckets? i think there was another guy here using rockwool cubes in E&F buckets....

have not heard about the 4:1 dirty:hard but have both, will look into giving it a try

It's rockwool and some strange foam, kind of looks like cookie dough when it is wet. Comes with a small bottle to mix with water and charge it when you use it. bags were 3 cu feet I believe and about $40 as far as the 4g dirty 1g tap per gal formula...... it's the future. stable in hydro with quick thick growth.

Giving the Dirty another chance since we had so much. This time running it in a NON co2 smaller room, just 4k. Its doing much better. Still the 4grams per gal only gets us to about 200ppm so we are in week 4 right now and about at 12grams per gal. Which gets us right at about 900ppm.

Will keep you posted on our findings. At this point plants look better than they did on our previous run of using the Dirty and are nice and green.

Pure Coco
Feeding every 3rd day to runoff. Feed Feed Feed, Water, Feed Feed Feed

It's odd that your nutrient strength is that low. With the RO formula, I get 640 ppm on the .5 scale with 4 grams/gallon.

Have you checked the calibration on your Truncheon? I found with mine that it started reading lower and lower on a mix that I knew the normal strength of. After dealing with BlueLab's warranty people (great guy, by the way), I found that there was crap built up on the probes and NOTHING that I could find would get it off. Their recommended cleaner seams to be New Zealand specific - they sent me some and it worked great.

It seems like we might have discussed this a while back.....

haha....well since we have 4 of them and grow 7 rooms and over 1400 plants id like to think I make sure all of our equipment is in check. YES. Its calibrated using Bluelabs solution weekly, same with our PH meters. We use all BlueLab Guardian equipment

I remember now.

I wound up picking up a BlueLab EC pen and like it better than the Truncheon, but they are handy for checking against each other.

I use the Truncheon as a stir stick if i need to do a small 5 or 10 gal bucket for some transplants or something. Works nicely. I find its been dead on with the EC pens

IC Buds:

Is that Hydro Research's new media that you're using? After spotting it on their facebook page (but nowhere on their website or on here....), I asked them a question about it ( I have some dirty, some +LIfe, and +Size to play with in Coco, and I asked them if this new media was "like coco" and what it would be like to ship....)

I just got a response from Chris....

Hi Simple Green-

It's not similar to coco at all. It is a rockwool-poly mix and comes with a soak to prepare it for transplanting. It will deliver nutrients much more efficiently then coco and allow you to feed heavier. I will have a product info sheet on our website by this weekend. It is light weight but bulky however we can compress it down pretty well. 2 cu' 39.95 3 cu' 54.95. Can be re-used by mixing with 50% new material and resoaking.

Best,
Chris

This sounds cool to me. And I agree that in my experience, feeding in coco as high as some of you hydro people doesn't seem to do well for me. I tend to keep coco from 1.2-1.4EC (maybe 1.5 if giving a quick p k boost) and have problems above that.

Here's what I saw on their facebook page....

It looks like they're close to having some auto-watering system close to production as well....

I hear its just Rockwool and Malpito. Nothing super special there.
