First 600 watt Grow

Decided to record my first grow so I can look back on it when needed. I'm using a 4x4 foot tent with a 600 watt dimmable ballast, starting out with mh then swapping to hps. I also have a few 28 watt GlowPanels I'll be adding to it, don't know how much they will actually help. I'm also using Fox Farm Ocean Forest for this.

June 2nd:
Began the Germination of 15 seeds (Don't know if they're legit genetics, just acquired from friends not seedbanks)
4 Trainwreck, 4 Green Crack, 4 seeds from Maui, 3 unknown

June 9th:
Out of all the seeds, only 3 Greencrack, 3 Trainwreck, and 1 unknown seed actually sprouted The unknown seed's leaves were kind of distorted. Using three 28 watt Glowpanels and 125 watt cfl for this.

June 16th:
Acquired 6 more clones into the grow, put each into a 3 gallon pot. The strains are LA Confidential, LSD, Herojuana, Jack Herer, Girl Scout Cookies, and True OG Kush. Also switched the lights to a metal halide set to 300 watts. All green crack and trainwreck are healthy, the unknown seed is struggling, might be a dud.

June 18th:
True OG Kush began drooping right after the transplant. It ended up not pulling through. Decided to also germinate one extra unknown seed from a friend. Also attempted on topping all the Trainwreck and Green Crack seeds.

June 20th:
Gained 4 more clones into the grow. Two White Fire OG, Illuminati OG, and a stressed 1.5 ft Sugar Kane. The extra unknown seed also sprouted.
Added RAW Soluble nutes into the water: 1/8th tsp Kelp, 1/4tsp Humic Acid, 1/4 tsp Silica, and 1/4 tsp OminA per gallon (supposed to be a veg booster solution.

June 23rd:
Total plants is now 17
- 3 Green Crack, 3 Trainwreck, 1 Unknown (from seeds)
- LSD, Girl Scout Cookies, Jack Herer, LA Confidential, & Herojuana (1st round of clones)
- White Fire OG x2, Illuminati OG, & Sugar Kane (2nd round of clone)
Added nutes in today 9mL of Fox Farm Big Bloom and 4mL Tiger's Blood per gallon

June 25th:
Plants reacted great to the nutes
Going to be the last day of vegging, switching them to 12/12 and a hps bulb tomorrow. I know it's early, but I need to harvest in 10.5 weeks so time is an issue. Also added in some tomatoe cages today to help train them during the stretch.

I'm new to this site so I thought I could I edit my post to add pictures, but I guess you can't as far as I know. So here are some picture for the original post.

I'll be switching to a 12/12 light cycle starting tomorrow. I know I should veg longer but I have a time crunch for harvest (hopefully by Sept 7th) so they will have to go into flowering early. That's also why I have so many in this space. Really curious to see how they will all turn out especially since there are 12 different strains.

I have some questions if somebody could help me out. The problem I have with this grow is that I'm on a time constraint so I am kind of rushing this quicker than I would of liked. I flipped the lights to 12/12 today and swapped in a hps bulb, how long should I expect them to take to start flowering since they aren't fully matured yet? Also how long should I expect for the seedling I have to begin flowering?

I hope to harvest by September 7th which is 10.5 weeks away, do you think that will be enough time?

Here is an update on the grow

June 27th: 2 days into 12/12 light cycle

List of the plants starting in the big pots by the black fan and wrapping around left are:

Jack Herer, Girl Scout Cookies, LA Confidential, Herojuana, LSD, White Fire OG, illumaniti OG, Sugar Kane
Then the small containers are a mix of Green Crack and Trainwreck, the small one in the very middle is the unknown headband, and then the back right small container is the second unknown seed I got next to the second White Fire OG clone too.

And the my LA Confidential clone decided to sprout an extra plant. Has anyone seen this before or know what it could be from?

Here's an update from Today

July 3rd: 8 days into 12/12 light cycle

I've been gone for 3 days and after coming back they looked a little stressed/droopy. I think it was because they needed water, the soil got pretty dry. Gave them each a good amount of water and they seem to be bouncing back. They stretched a good amount when I was gone. I'm hoping the males reveal themselves soon so I can thin out the herd because it's starting to get cramped in there. So far it doesn't seem like any have actually begun to show flowers. I'm also testing on bending some of the tops under the tomatoe cages. I'm hoping it will encourage growth of lower bud sites.

Any advice?

i think the plants show the first pistil maybe a week +/-, but depends of a various factors like the strain, the lights type, the flower estimulator like topmax, and other small factors.
if you start counting only after the first pistils show, the time that the bank seeds advertise, is more ''real''.

do you use a carbon filter? if yes, where did you put it? I have no air cooled hood... but I thought that it should be run with a separate ventilation system... one for exhausting the hot air, and one to cool down the lamp...

And did you put your exhaust fan outside your tent?

I have a little grow going on by myself and I am having some temp issues... To put the exhaust fan may help to reduce temps as it emits heat on its own..

Awesome, the clones I got already have pistils. The dispensary I got them from said count the flowering time from the light switch, but that is probably because they list flowering times on the diiferent strains anywhere from 9 to 11 weeks. I can see how this can be inconsistent though because an immature plant being switched to flowering probably won't show pistils as fast as a matured one. For my seeds though I'm going to take the flowering start as soon as they show their sex, hopefully soon! Thanks for your input!

I don't use a carbon filter, but I probably should because its really starting to smell. If I decide on getting one, I would hook some ducting up to the open side of my vented hood and connect it to the carbon filter in the tent. That way air from the tent will be sucked into the carbon filter to eliminate the smell, pulled into the hood to pull the hot air away from the bulb, then passing through the fan and finally being exhausted out of my window.
Since you don't have an air cooled hood, I'm guessing 2 ventilation systems would be best. The one exhausting hot air up high and the one bringing in cool air down low by the plants to keep them cool.
I have a max fan which doesn't really emit much heat itself so I keep it in the tent, but if yours gets that hot I would keep it outside the tent to avoid adding extra heat besides the lamp.
That's just my speculation on it, but I'm guessing someone on here has a good method on keeping a non vented hood's temps down.
It's even hard for me to keep the temps down right now with it being like 90 degrees outside during the day. The temps are starting to creep up to about 84 in the tent after the light has been on for awhile during the hotter parts of the day. I just leave my fan on for about an hour after my light turns off to bring the temp down for night.

Time for another update and also I have some questions too

To start off here is the tent 12 days into 12/12 lighting, it's getting pretty crowded in there. I'm hoping the plants from seed show there sex soon so I can trash the males and transplant the females into 3 gallon pots and gain a little breathing room in there. Nothing I can really do though until that happens though.



I also found a white little spot on a couple leaves in there. I'm beginning to get concerned its powder mold. Did some reading and I found that it is common in crowded spaces with humidity over 50%, which is pretty much what I have right now. Here are some pictures of what one of the leaves looked like and also zoomed in on the white spot. Is that powder mold that I have?
If so I've been reading to mix 10% milk & 90% water for a foliage spray to get rid of it, is that the general cure for it? Some advice with this would be greatly appreciated.



The final thing I was wondering was about my current lighting set up. I have my 600 watt HPS light going, but i was considering doing a MH and HPS combo. I have another light that is a 400 watt HPS that I could hang in there and then switch the other one I have in there to a MH bulb and run it at 50% or 75% and have the two going. Would this be worth it to get a full spectrum of light, or just a waste of my time and energy?
Also with this I'm wondering about the ventilation, I currently have 6" ducting going to the hood I have in now. If I added the 400 watt HPS then I would have to attach on a 6" to 4" reducer and use 4" ducting to add it to the other hood. Would this work or would there not be enough airflow and too much strain on my fan? I have a 6" max fan doing 334 cfm.

I would of definitely veg'd longer and done less plants, but my time constraint made me do more plants and a short veg. Hopefully I get a decent yield though, 13 of them are good size and 2 were a little late to the party so kind of small.

So far I trashed those 2 males and repotted my others that I am pretty sure are female. One might possibly be a male though.
All the others are getting nice little buds too!
I'll try to post a pic update soon, but I have to get a new phone first to do so.
