i was thinking that! good idea. i want it to be as thin as possible, but also do a good jub of insulating the heat from the cab. the only downfall, is the 5 inches of space that i will be losing. so from 24 inches to 19. that does worry me a little

honestly i have no burning, even at 2 inches from the light. i mainly need it for the heat. cooltubes sound nice, but that will make things too complicated. K.I.S.S.

I'm thinking of building a 3' wide plywood octagonal cabinet . 4' tall, with three tiers of single cola plants grown at a 45 degree angle to the 2 vert 150s one up one down. Eight walls, holding 6 plants each, two per tier. 48 plantrs total in leaning 5" pots with coco/pearlite hand watering. bamboo steaks will be used to train the colas toward the light. The 150s should take care of 3 vertical feet as I've had success with 2' and one 150. the furthest point from a lamp is <1', this will give the clones ~14" of space at the 45. Hoping to hit 5g per and get an HP:) Any thoughts? I have to put up my shitty paintbrush rough-cut plans:)

Seems like that require A LOT of work OrgAeroMan. It would be much easier to just use a single 250w and yield higher in that same sized space. Hell, you could probably pull off a vert 400w in that space. Good idea in theory, but I don't think it would be worth the extra hassle. I did vert 150w in a 16x18x28 space and I had a fan directly below the light like DB said to control temps. I tried the glass shield with a horizontal bulb and it just didn't work for me.

Keep that 150w as close to the plants as you can. A little burn on the fan leafs causes no significant harm and is worth all the extra light the remainder of the plants get. No need to worry about fires or anything. They won't actually touch the bulb if you have proper cooling.

More shots of vert 150 in that small space.

I too have grown with a single vert 150, the results were great. I believe this would yield the best for 2 150s. The light coverage would be more even than a single 250 or 400. Also, keep in mind the pots/plants will be tilted at a 45 degree angle toward the lamps, maximizing space and growing toward the lamps instead of around it. They seem to shade themselves with the leaf photo-tropisms associated with vert sog. The plants should finish <4" from the lamps. This will also encourage a healthier stretch, I believe, as it seems difficult to get much height with traditional vert sog. Are you talking about hand watering the plants being difficult? I have a small submersible pump that makes it a breeze.

So I had upgraded to a 400 for a while but I have since moved and need to downsize to continue growing. I picked up a small tent and a carbon filter online last night and should be getting them in a week or less. I will be pulling the 150 out of storage and dusting it off. Not sure if I want to go vert again or what but we will see. I am pretty excited to get something going here and I have a few strains vegging already so I have a head start. I will be posting picks and updates as they happen. So 150 club...I AM BACK :)

Welcome back, BT. What were your 400 yields like?

Not that great honestly. Cab layout was pretty crappy very wide and not much depth so they werent centered under the light well. My GPW actually went down significantly from what I was getting with the 150. GPW around .31 or about 4.5 oz off 4 plants 4 different strains in 3 gal grow bags of FFOF mixed with additional perlite and worm castings. Used FF Big Bloom, BS molasses, and Neptunes Harvest Trio.

Edit: Pics in my albums if interested. I didnt get too many harvest shots tho and I dont know if I even uploaded any.
