It is far from perfect here. When being at the forefront of a new idea, laws are vague and have many loopholes. Some for the better some for the worse. i moved out here just under 2 years ago and I love it. Let the politicians do their worst while the cannabis culture enjoys itself. Laws or no laws, pot is going nowhere in Colorado, it's part of the people's lives here. Not only that, but we are the Napa Valley of beer with over 200 amazing microbreweries. I love good weed and good beer. Makes life easier.

I think you're right when it comes to the MMJ scene. Retail & personal growing are another matter, pretty straightforward, really.

Retail? Go big or stay home. If you can't line up big money Colorado investors, forget about it. Don't expect current pricing to hold, either.

Personal growing? Stay small to stay happy. Keep it personal & non-commercial entirely for a safe smooth ride.

The other part you're right about is that we're never going back to the way it was. All of the doom, gloom & moral depravity assigned to legalization have failed to materialize, leaving critics sputtering & trying to make mountains out of molehills. We just integrated it into everyday life, folded it right into normalcy like everything else. For those not participating, it's like nothing changed at all. Impact on their lives is negligible. It's like- Why was that such a big deal? What were we thinking?

So far, it's been a big let down for the naysayers & there's no sign of that changing.

Jhhnn, seeing you talk about CO has been the most instrumental factor in my decision to move there, I think. Of all the things I've read about the cannabis laws there and how they have or have not affected life in the state, it's your posts I've learned the most from. The way I see it, I don't need a "medical scene." I just need to be free to grow my own medicine and I'll medicate myself, as I've always done. I just don't want to raise my kids in an environment where I'm always afraid I'll get caught and go to jail.

Does anybody sell rooted clones at the retail level? Imagine buying them at Paulino Gardens, right along with tomato & pepper seedlings...

See ads for them in Westword, but from what I read you better be prepared for spider mites.

Paulino Gardens would end up charging $25 for a $10 clone. Bought my initial soils, EWC, and perlite there and paid through the nose. $23.99 for FFOF that is at WayToGrow for $13.99.

But that was back before I started chatting with you fine folks and was still rather paranoid about the whole thing.

Anyone advertising clones for public sale will give you pests, PM, or who knows what else (not on purpose, sometimes). I will only go through the proper chain of people if accepting clones.

Years back when I got into indoor growing started picking up clones at clubs in Cali and what a nightmare! I got some Master Kush and NOTHING even close and 3 different phenos of whatever none the less and all of them garbage.

I just used Paulino's as an example. As you say, they can be overpriced, but the selection & overall quality is unbeatable. Can't find some particular ornamental plant for the yard? If they don't have it, nobody does. Not anybody local, anyway.

I take an annual pilgrimage there every year, with the wife. I figure she'd spend thousands instead of hundreds if I didn't tag along.

Love is the damndest thing.

I am very particular about where I source anything; has to be organic. Horizon herbs is an amazing site that has just about anything from seed to plant, all organic high quality. Shipping can get expensive, but they have what you need.

I am hereby posting in this thread as a superstitious act intended to somehow make it possible for me to move to Colorado. Maybe by posting here it will somehow help me to manifest that reality. The more I see how the cannabis laws were written into the state constitution, the more I realize how close to perfect you guys got it. I want to move there and do my part to contribute to the economy there, to pay my taxes there, to be a part of that world.

Don't worry, commercial growers, I'm not coming out there to take part in the gold rush, lol. I have a career that I love, and it has nothing to do with cannabis, so I won't be competing with anyone. I just want to find a job in my field, and start pumping my money into the Colorado economy instead of the one where I am right now.

Hush Come on Down...

We need people with Skills other then Growing Pot to Grow Our State in a Meaningful Way for the Next Generation. If you want to make it in Colorado you better have Money, Professional Skills or Both, working for $10 hour in Paradise is not Paradise...

Born and Raised in Colorado so I'm Proud we were the First but IMHO other States will follow suite, not all but most just like prohibition in the 1930's...

Still hard to believe People are going to Jail over a Plant...

This is what I'm ending up with and will transplant into final homes this weekend. I selected the Cheese leaning seed baby and killed the AK 47 leaning then took the 2 Ape Shit clones (and they are really rocking) then the lone standout Sugarfruit fem. What an awesome recovery for her 7 days after transplant and looking a bit like crap before that. She is gonna rock! I hope lol

Hope I get it right one of these days.

Thx. I can get by without a greenhouse in a good/typical season with these genetics it seems and that based on my local dork friends. We'll see and since I'm running only a few plants should be OK. Wouldn't take much to cover em.

so far so good under the 860w CeramicMetalHalide... its hot like a regular hps/mH 1k plants seem to love it. it's actually supposed to be hung vertically or up to a 15% angle according to the philips box it came to me in. i just got the 860 recently but used a 315w CMH the double enclosed bulb, rated for open use.... plants really liked it and it created essentially NO heat from the bulb or ballast. also the 315w Ceramic Metal Halide is a lil bit smaller bulb, so a has slightly smaller footprint esp. when hung horizontally; it cam be run vert also tho.
I used the Philips 315w agro CMH bulb powered by a ballast made locallyl they are extremely efficient; 2.5 amps draw on regular 110v.

My friends and I will be OK

That's what you think. JBomber knows what he's talking about. Don't ever listen to the weather bitches when it comes to last and first frost. Last frost the past 2 years has been weeks later than they predicted and 1month+ early in the fall. Good luck!

I've stopped paying $40+ for 5 seeds anymore. Can't bring myself to it. There are better genetics out there for free. If you are popping RD seeds be prepared to buy at least 30 ($300 worth of seed) because every strain they put out carries 25+ phenotypes. I have a buddy who is good friends with them and they pop hundreds of seeds every time to find 1 phenotype and then market that as their strain. RD = poop.
Personally I never charge more than $70 for 13 seeds, but i'm a minority.

all the 315s ive seen in action run on 220, I've seen one company with a 120v setup but it was double the price. In veg rooms they support some crazy growth, og's look like they are growing under the sun. I heard something about new de bulbs coming out in different wattages as well.

Personally through the years the best seeds I've always bought are between $50-100. the ones more then that are always hype it seems. nowadays if your not buying from an internet retailer you should get able to get closer to wholesale pricing.

LOL. I was just cracking on Paulino Gardens. My own fault for paying more, not theirs. Make the same annual pilgrimage (or 3) with my wife. It's absolutely true that their selection is unbeatable and they are extremely knowledgeable. Prices are higher, but probably the best overall nursery in town.
