How to grow medical marijuana - I have no experience

My husband has a very rare bone disease called Fibrous Dysplasia. For him it affects his skull. The bones of the skull don't stop growing which puts a lot of pressure on the brain. He has been taking Oxycontin for a long time but that worries me because he has become dependent. He saw his doctor yesterday & they suggested medical marijuana. I would be much happier with that than the Oxy.

My question is . . . how do I grow it? I have been growing flowers & plants from seed for a long time. I have grow lights & electrical heating mats but I have no clue how to grow marijuana. I'm assuming it is grown differently than your average seedling. And then it needs to be dried? How is that done? I'm totally lost.

Do you know of any websites that could help me? Thanks a bunch!

Buy a grow book at a used book store for what you want to do, is that inside? Outdoors?

Paladin420 already linked you to the best place to ask questions as a new grower after you get a good overview from Kodiak's thread.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, any alternative to oxy's is a worth while endeavor. Wishing you the best.

Amazon has quite a few books on growing, Jorge Cervantes` book is informative without being to detailed. If you can grow flowers you can grow cannabis, stay off pesticides and harvest late (my opnion) for good painkilling effect.

ReyeZ medical marijuana is probably not going to stop that kind of pain. It might help him tolerate it better but he will still need opiates. Pain caused by lack of space do to something growing in a confined space is one of the hardest pains to control. It is basically caused by pressure.

Many times people with Fibrous Dysplasia don't know they have it and it gets discovered when doing studies like xrays for something else. The ones that have pain symptoms are usually people that have skull involvement or thigh bone involvement. The type of pain these people have is a very uncomfortable constant pressure type of pain.

I would go into this project with this mindset. You are not going to replace narcotics with marijuana. You are going to use marijuana to help the narcotics work better.

Go by some clones and stick them outside right now like tomato plants. I assume you are in a legal state. Start a thread and people will chime in. It isn't hard.

Did the doctor give him a script to get marijuana? Did he try some to see if it helps?

Reyez go to barnes and nobles and get this book(I got mine there): This will help you a ton. Plus if you post a thread in the new growers forum people will help you, including myself.

I think one of the most important things you can learn is what a happy plant looks like - at all stages of growth.

Then you slowly learn the remedies for little growing problems.

The plant becomes like a biological meter. It gives us feedback about the status of the growing conditions.

Only thing you need to know is that it is a short day flowering plant. It needs 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness to flower. Other than that, do not treat it any different than anything else you've grown. That is, don't fall prey to the grow store sales BS and waste a bunch of money on stuff you don't need. It's plant and doesn't have some mystical properties that require special (expensive) additives.

As you know since you grow flowers, different stages require different nutrients to get optimal results.

Harvest when the calyxes are swollen and the pistils have mostly died back and receded. Trim the leaves back to the bud and dry it by hanging on hangers or a screen. After a couple/few days when the outer bud is dry put in conatainer to "sweat the stem". When bud is soft and not as dry on outer area, basicallly the next day, open the container for a night and then close for a day. repeat a couple times and it should be good to go.

Are you going to grow outdoor or indoor?
Has your husband tried mj already and found it has helped?
Is he going to be smoking/vaping or eating the oil?
Growing medical mj is no different to growing mj except where the law is concerned.
Its very easy to dry look up drying and curing on google or this site.

Best of luck.
