Damn, I hate seeing that.. Had that happen once which was enough to make me paranoid and dial in my humidity with proper ventilation and dehumidifiers when necessary. Wishing you better luck on your next harvest!
Did that come out of jars with mold on it? or was this a freshly dried cola and cut apart to be jarred?
Only the pics in the first post is mine. It was a Bubba Kush cola dried for 6 days.
On a lighter note: I cut out the cola bad parts like a brain surgeon and jarred two quarts.

I bet it smells like dirt. When I get it curing, I nuke it for 10 or 15 seconds on medium. Just enough to kill the mold(which u have) then let the bud dry completely. It'll still smell and taste like dirt but will stop the mold. I've never had it in a living bud. Sorry about the bad luck.
seems to me you either arent burping your jars well enough, or there is too much in the jar with little air circulation.
also if the nug is super dense like so, cut it apart first before you dry and jar it. good air circulation and jar burping will prevent the mold.

edit- sorry I didnt read the post thoroughly lol
try to stay away from allowing your colas to get too large (meaning top the plant a few times before flower to allow for several smaller colas instead of a large one) not sure if you do top them or not but personally I wont allow them to get that large.
and most likely that mold showed up while drying, if so in that case cut them apart better. if no air is allowed in and out of the nug. itll mold. toss out that moldy shit, dont smoke it or even give it away.
I did in fact have that happen to me years ago with a super fat and dense BMR. during drying is where it molded, simply because it wasnt cut apart and little to no air circulation through it.
also if the nug is super dense like so, cut it apart first before you dry and jar it. good air circulation and jar burping will prevent the mold.

The mold you don't see will still mess you up.
