Got a few of them perma, thx tho. good tip. I also use those moving blankets from uhaul to cover my tanks/chiller soaking in the d/i bath. I fly through ice keeping my 5 gal ss wort chiller/ molecular tranformator, and tank chilly when im running. Ive been just placing a slab of ice under the steel driers lately. been pulling off -55, -70 injection, and extraction process no sweat. Ive dissolved the resinoid and chilled with no significant precipitation of waxes. This has been great for the acid lovers! Its working out awesome for some phytosol extractions ive been messing with too! 134a in a Buna-n'd out terp, o my!

Been running capitol, moisture pickup has been less. Got an edwards rv12 and a vacuubrand vap-5.

Man, This particular chem-d bx3 selection made some killer, rambling meds. Thx osho!

@MEMED got quite a bit of genetics bay11, starlet kush, gangster og, lemon sstomper ,cannatonic, kosher tangie, got a couple of my own crosses bAyK#1 is ak47xbay 11 , glam haze is NL#5xHaze x bay 11 both are showing promise very fruity, got some cbd critical mass going also really lookin for the cbd , open tubed some cannatonic #4 pheno came out reddish and had a cherry coughdrop medicine taste to it, also have 60 or so strains in seed form , on average how often are you guys replacing the 6'' and 1 1/2'' gaskets?

Are there any other closed loopers in the Detroit area? This talk of local collaboration has gotten me curious. I'm the only person in my circle who uses a closed loop as apposed to open blast, but my circles not that big...

What'd ya pay for your DI storage vessel and what style? I was quoted $1200 for the penguin style we see in local supermarkets, where they store the blocks....I lucked out and got a similar style for a fraction of the price, just wish i could fit a hundy pounder in it.....would love any leads on alternatives to my 30 gallon trash can with moving blanket insulation....the blankets only being implemented when coltrane came by to play a few notes.:ying:

just curious as to everyones trim vs nug avgs mixed trim obviously being the lowest, also can i run 2 columns into a 6x6 spool without fear of to much tane? ive been doing single 24''columns 3 floods then full recovery switch collection pots and columns and start again, just wondering if i could reduce my time . can the 6x6 handle a 36'' x 1 1/2 column? how long do the viton gaskets last from personal experience? thanks everybody in advance im lovin terpin! wish i could run it all day everyday just not enough material......yet

You can usually get away with two 24" column volumes in the lower 6" X 6" spools, but it can get dicey with high resin content material if you are making carboxylic acid cotton candy at subzero temperatures. If you want to push the Mk III, I would recommend adding another 6" spool to give it some head room.

Better yet, step up to a Mk IV 10" lower pot, to get more surface area for faster recovery.

A 6" X 6" pot holds about 26.7 cubic inches per inch, or 160 cubic inches and an empty 1 1/2" column about 1.33 cubic inches per inch of length.

48" of 1 1/2" column would dump 64 cubic inches and puts a 2.4" deep pool in the tank. Depending on how you pack it, a packed column would dump less butane.

The real danger comes from opening dump and vent valves too fast, or running enriched material and continuing to run multiple column without cleaning out the pot.

great stuff GW thanks a million , can i get a 10'' bottom from glacier? what about the top welded lid are they carrying these or can someone get one through wolfwurx? whats the price for a 10'' base with lid ,clamps, gaskets, end cap if you have the figures thanks again

Glacier sells 10" x 12" spools. Specialized formulations made a few conversion lids, so you might check with them. WolfWurx has Mk IV kits with spare tanks, but no stand alone spares. They would probably bird dog one for you, but would have to order the parts from Glacier or China.

Not sure about any of their pricing, so you will need to check with them.

Ive been trying to get a picture of the 6" to 12" conversion lid adapter from specialized but never get an email back. Im about to just buy it and hope i like it lol

on average how much is everyone packing into a 1 1/2'' x 24'' column? if you are getting anywhere near 150gs how tight are you packing it im wondering if i havent been packing tight enough .made my 1st batch of cotton candy today used the dip method took quite awhile to recover to -22hg but the longer time is worth the lighter colors and l like the texture better

When I said ask questions mainewaxworks, I didnt mean for you to ask the same played out questions everyone else has already asked 6000 times. Research. Please, dont just think of a question, post it here, and expect someone to just hand you the appropriate answer for your application. You may get multiple answers, from different peoples personal experience. Have yours. There is science to this.

... Not saying it to be a dick. Matter fact, I need to take my own damned advice. The other day I was trying to wrap my head around this new pump gw's incorporating. Wasted my time, and hopefully not his, when I realized I just needed to catch up on the recovery pump thread and all would be revealed. I should have just researched, and I woulda seen it was right under my nose all along. If you see this GW, please disregard my most recent email, and please get back to innovating!

fyi, im able to cram damn near half an elbow in one of those 24" tubes.... YMMV

No clue on why you are having trouble with a picture, but I've seen the conversion and it is a ten inch lid with a six inch tri clamp weld ferrule in the center, which allows you to clamp the Mk IIIA lid to it and the larger lid to a 10" pot.

Depends on what we're making. 4.1 grams per cubic inch of 10 mesh with ~10% water content, and less than that when packing unsieved material and whole nugs.

Use ID, not OD of the tubes, when computing capacity. The 1 1/2" is an OD measurement and the walls are ~.065 thick on that sized sanitary tubing.

When i had gauges on my column it was at the flood port on the concentric reducer. I put a cross there with a gauge on one side and a vac port on the other for running multiple columns before harvesting. It worked great and gave me reassurance that during soaks the column pressure was in an acceptable rangel. I no longer do the flood/soak tech so i don't use the column pressure gauge unless top showering

I'd like to see pics of that if anyone has any. Why run a gauge on the column?

Why? Exactly what Permacultuure said. The more available info on what's going on inside the machine the better we can fine tune our process.

Permacultuure, with the setup you described butane must be flowing inside the gauge, no? I fear contamination with such a simple placement.

It would take a little more effort to incorporate a tri-clamp fitting ahead of a gauge, tri-clamp gauge or not, but it can easily be done.

i realize most every question has been asked and answered by now ,my problem is having the time to read the entire threads searching for my answer sometimes its easier and quicker to ask again if short on time, everyone here has been very helpful in this manner, thanks everyone ,next time i have a question and have time to look i will, so in everyones "personal" experience how often are you replacing the viton gaskets if you are using viton that is ?

Nice find! Made with FKM too, so it's compatible!

When they leak lol. Screen gaskets are tossed when the screens start to separate from the gasket. This usually happens before they begin to leak.
