ok guys I been making bubble for years but I always had dried my materials then put in freezer b4 I extract.

This time I wanted to try the fresh frozen method , so I have done the extraction , and that went excellent however this pile of goo, wont dry , its sooo goey it melts right into your skin if ya handle it,......

I have read about freezing the goo, and then vac purging while frozen to remove moisture,.....

anyone got any experience with this ,... must be a way to dry it , if sooo many guys like to use frozen fresh trim ......

big question

important answer

i had another thread about water hash extraction drying technique, didnt make it

you really need to get the paddy back down to a granular state IMO

unless you live in the nazca desert laying out a patty of fresh frozen bubble hash will just mold when it gets jarred up

2 routes

freeze it than get a microplane and grind a frozen patty out on a large clean surface area

or

take a still moist/wet(somewhat) patty and push it through a strainer with a spoon and spread out on a clean surface

let dry at 60f/40%(ish) for 1-14 days depending on area

ok so I should be more clear I made the bubs yesterday , early.... so its been drying already for 24hrs plus,....so shits def not WET , and I ve chopped it in small pieces ,so its not in a paddy, I tried to freeze it then plane it but it will just melt in your hands,.... I gunna try to make it into as small of pieces as I can and leave it to air dry I guess,....

how long are you guys drying hash made from fresh frozen trim ? seems like it will take a while ,

I think jayjayfrank nailed it on this one. Microplaning or sieving through a strainer would be optimal.

I recently made a good batch. I broke mine up onto a piece of corrugated cardboard. It was slightly frozen from a freezing draft while it was on the blotting screen while extracting the rest of the bags. I have about 20-30% rh in my basement so it works ok I guess. Even so I had a couple funky hits from larger chunks that I think had just started to go moldy/mildewy. I broke em open and could clearly see that it was still wet on the inside while the outside was waxy. If you do it like this they have to be broken very small and dried for a few days to prevent funk. I checked on it at least daily and now it's all nice and dry wax.

Sieving through a strainer like bubbleman does is probably optimal but last time I tried that it just goo'd up all over the screen. However, in todays video I learned something new. In He mentioned the possibility of re adding a bit of moisture to the freshly extracted heads before sieving it. I'll have to try it next time for sure.

Anyways it came out like this. HTH

yah mon I froze it broke it up super small , similar but a lil smaller , I guess this is a good method if your don't wanna smoke it for 10-14 days ........ I kinda like using dry materials since the resin drys waaaaaay quicker.....

what u guys think ?

But it should be much better to smoke though, much more tasty. I think a couple of extra days of drying is a small price to pay.

I leave it in a 25micron bag to drip dry and then put that on top of either cardboard or a towel and put it in a room with the dehuey on the lowest setting, right away.

FWIW i have noticed the dryer the hash the higher you get(all else being equal)

(total cannabinoids w/v, i think)

right as the patty is coming out of the bag slightly dab it on a pressing screen and let some moisture wick out by gravity(never put pressure) and while its still moist/wet use the back of a metal spoon and slowly, one chunk at a time, press it through a mesh screen on to a clean drying surface and let dry 60f/40%(ish) until a sandy consistency. if keeping for long term storage press or seal it in a low oxygen environment with desiccant(wine fridge).

the 90u and 120u are the trickiest to handle(hydration ratio to gland head size?), the 73u is actually the easiest stuff i think.

First dont squeeze the water out, just lay it on metal tray with paper towels with your 25micron screen in the fridge. Flip it over once while still in fridge. After about hour in fridge take it off screen and put it on metal tray that is cold and chop up with knife. Work fast because as soon as hash starts to get room temp it wont chop any more. Next stick it same where cold to dry. The cold is the key to drying it. Once its dry it will still be sticky but after a few days it will become chalky like and powder up for you. I like it sticky so i can dab it so I close it up and try to keep moisture in it but in few days it always loses the stickiness.

The best way i think is to stretch it a dozen time a day and flip it like pancake every time, you will slowly get to the point where it become manageable and you can have a flat and even surface that will eventually dry perfectly.
This Black Label took 2 weeks

I do not use a microplane because it damage the wax membranes holding the resin.

You should actually squeeze as much water as possible to start with and if your drying is perfect you could keep that sticky texture for a very long time. If sticky resin become waxy it is because humidity was left in the resin. Cold is best to dry but the most important factor of drying is the level of humidity of your drying place.

do not squeeze your hash patty

even freezing the hash patty is up for debate

simply take a mesh metal strainer and a metal spoon and one finger nail size chunk at a time 'sieve' the moist chunk of hash patty onto a flat surface dry surface(parchment paper/pizza box). try to get the granules as small as possible. you want it dry and sandy...

the whole idea is to work as quickly as possible so that the resin glands can dry out as fast as possible. the longer it is wet the more it degrades.

are you THE frenchy from humboldt that only uses the 2 bag technique?

I am the Frenchy from Mendo who actually use 190, 160, 73 and 45, I use two collecting bags if that is what you mean.
There is goo that will never pass through a strainer and it will never become sandy, this Black Label was goo before drying and is still goo after 3 months.

This is Jaro from Aficionado, heavy Hindu Kush and Afghani parentage is 5 years old and is still "oozing resin"

Freezing the resin is most certainly for debate as well as freezing fresh trims for that matter.

ok good to know

have you tryed a 90 and 120 bag?

i have noticed that yes, some microns dont like the strainer, at all.

mixing microns seems to change the hydration properties of the gland head, filtering it down to a 73 and 90 and 120 - the 90 might not pass though a strainer but the 73 and 120 will. just an observation.

also different strains will handle differently depending on stages in drying, fresh frozen seems to always stay sticky for me.

would you have any tips on running long flowering narrow leafs for hash frenchy? have you noticed different gland sizes being the 'keepers' of a batch? thanks for your time!

When im making canollies from dry cured trim i squeeze the water out of the bags but with fresh frozen i put it on a screen with paper towels under and let gravity do the work.
Fresh frozen makes better hash in my opinion for personal use(head). Dry trim is commercial quality to me. Ive cured cannolis, ive made dry beach sand, fresh frozen wax and the fresh frozen is the best. Ive made it from dried cured and fresh frozen from same plants many times. The fresh frozen is tastier and smokes better on Ti nail, its much waxer. The dry cured trim smokes better in a pipe but loses some taste. I didnt even hear about fresh frozen until i seen the CCC smoking it and talking about it couple years ago. Since then i make nothing but fresh frozen its that good. Ive had my bubbleman bags for 10 years now so ive done it all. BHO guys love it because its like there BHO without the butane.
