Mildred - End of week 8

Mildred - End of week 8

Shortly after taking pictures of Trainwreck I had to chop her down. Every day I'm inspecting my ladies specifically for spider mites. This is the season for them and they are all over my yard. While I was checking I notice a very small area on a bottom leaf that looked like powdery mildew. It couldn't be more than 2 days old but I wasn't going to take any chances of getting the other ladies infected. So far I haven't seen any PM on the other ladies. Because of that I only have one lady that is 8 weeks old.

Mildred

Mildred bud

This lady is almost finished. All the trichomes are cloudy now. I'm checking for amber to make the decision to chop. She also has cut down on the amount she is drinking. The end is near.

Halos - End of week 7

Much like Mildred the Halo sisters are not drinking as much as they did. I was watering them every 3-4 days. Now after 3 days they fill full of water. The pots are very heavy. I may not water them again for a week or more.

These ladies are starting to push out foxtails and the trichomes are cloudy. I'll be watching them closely. I haven't grown these before so I'm learning as I go.

Unlike Mildred and the Halos these ladies are still thirsty and drinking every 3 days. The trichomes on these are starting to get cloudy.

Much like the GQ's these ladies are still drinking so I'll have to water them today. The buds on these ladies are more elongated like the Halo sister then like the compacted buds of GQ.

Neon Purps - End of week 6

This lady is still drinking just like the Goblin Queen and Goblin Girl sisters. The purple isn't as pronounced as I hoped it would be but it is still showing purple.

Here's the newest lady to my line up.

Blue Orca

Same Blue Orca

This cutting is from the mid 80's. It's been passed through many hands and has landed in my cellar. I'll take special care of this lineage.

Mildred

Mildred bud

She hasn't grown much this last week so she'll be coming down this weekend. That bud is covered in frost. This is my favorite plant for smoking. I think you can see why from the bud shot.

End of week 7 - Goblin Queens

These ladies aren't showing any sign of PM so they'll get another week or two if the PM stays away. PM likes humid warm areas with little air flow. I won't be making that mistake again. 9 plants are just too many for my 4x6' flower area. I'm going to run 6 next time in 5 gallon buckets. That's what these GQs are in.

These ladies have about 15 buds on each of them. The pistils are turning brown and the resins is covering most of the leaves. To me it looks close to being finished. The buds are big and fat. They still look nice and healthy.

I'm glad this lady isn't showing any signs of PM. She looks like at least 2 more weeks before she might be done. I staked up some of the branches because you can see them leaning in the picture. The bud shot captures pretty much what I see when I look at her. It's a nice color of purple. I'm happy with her.

The next run

The next run

The PM this run could have been avoided if I hadn't packed in so many plants. All of the plants I ran were great plants and I just couldn't cull them. I've been beyond what I would normally run with the new genetics and preparing for the outdoor plants. So now that most of the outdoor and ladies are done I've got a better control on my next run.

I'm only going to turn 6 teenagers this next time. I'm not going to top them either. I'm going to LST them. I tried it before and it worked. The reason I'm doing this is I read from two different sources that the top of the plant is a hormonal control center that among other things regulates the plant turning towards the light (sun). By cutting the top you are removing this control center. I don't know about this so this last run was with topped plants (Mildred and Neon Purps weren't topped). I'm going to not top them on this next run and see what I think.

I prefer to top because it's the easiest. LST'ing a plant requires you spend more time with each plant. I'll try both then make a decision on what I'll do moving forward.

Teenagers

Left row front to back: Goblin Queen, Blue Orca
Middle row front to back: Goblin Girl, Original Halo
Right row front to back: Goblin Girl, Goblin Girl

More variegated GG are on the way. I'll do my best to keep this run PM-free.

This lady is not drinking as much and I'm thinking she is close to being done. No PM has shown up so I'm going to let her go a little bit longer.

These ladies unlike Neon Purps are still drinking about a gallon of water every three days. So I think they have a ways to go yet.

No more ladies to hang with. It's not that I get depressed. It's just that I miss being around flower herb. Now I won't get to hang with the ladies until the end of summer. I've got some teenagers that I'm thinking about putting into 5 gallon pots and veg'ing them in the flower area for 2-3 weeks before flipping them. I may do that next weekend. I've got that pool tournament tomorrow and I need to clean up the flower area. Here's my teenagers.

Now that I've got some room in the cellar meaning the flower area is empty and I've got my teenagers at a reasonable amount. I'm popping some seeds. I tried for 24 but ended up with 8 seedlings. Now I'll admit that I just put some soil in my clear cups and planted a single seed in each of the 24 cups. Nothing special, just old fashion seed planting. I could have done some more to get a bigger number of seedlings out of the 24. I think 8 will be enough to handle though.

I tried to pop Sanctuary Gardens, Swami Organic Seed and my own genetics. Unfortunately I didn't get any Swami Organic Seed to pop. I only tried 4 seeds but I've got Mazar-I-Sharif x Guerero and Cascadian Frost from a previous seed popping adventure.

Here are the Sanctuary Gardens seedlings.
