Tony - you planning on adding a second screen? What size containers are you using now?

Those are ten gallon bags bro, a little shy of ten in em they are sittin in drip pans. I never did a scrog this is my first one, ya reckon I should add a second screen? It seems like if I need a second screen maybe I didnt train good enough? Whaddya think. Im flyin by the seat of my pants on this one.

edit-5.5 cubic feet of soil divided by 5 actually in 10 gallon cheapy grow bags. (2 bags happy frog 1 bag ocean forest)

so what is that like 8 gallons each roughly I think. Gonna do 4 15 gallon smarties full next time I think... IF I can master this scrog thing, week 2 comin up. I tucked and spread a bunch after those pics, all the tips re getting tight alternating action now.

pics make it pretty tough to see any dud traits, but id assume by the size of those plants in general that they weren't dudd's...a dud would take easily 3-4 months to reach that size

No they're not duds ....Guarenteed !!! ask Krusty, Marlo , or Sprout if i'm passing duds .fly by night don't show many pics , but i can bet he's not thinking hes got a dud either .

& tony .... the second net would not mean ya screwed up !! its just these plants stretch like theres no tomorrow & second net would help hold the branches that get way above the first net .cuz the branching is kinda week on these too & they'll flop once the buds start getting fat . kinda why i suggested the SB cross , to see if the SB helps strengthen up the branching .

Think ill go with 4 15-20 gal smarties next time.
I would have only put 1 plant in your set up and spread it out farther instead of letting it grow vertical, 2 plants at the most, that middle plant is going to get overgrown from her sisters.

No, I don't see anything necessarily "wrong" with needing a second screen at all...honestly. I just expect those will really start to stretch on you and you may find your screen sitting a bit lower on the budsites / stems than you had anticipated...

It was more so a "have you thought about this / be prepared to" type of statement...

Not so much a passing of judgement. ;)

And I thought they looked like 10's. PERSONALLY - what I have found when growing larger bushes as opposed to taller plants: a wider pot will produce a wider bush, naturally...and a deeper pot will grow a taller plant.

I think my favorite way to grow thus far - has been taking 3 gal bags and folding them down so they hold 2 gallons. Veg the plants in those - and then transplanting 10 gal smarties folded in half to make wide 5 gal containers for flower.

My plants when done this way, typically grow within the exact footprint of the container - making things SO MUCH EASIER to stake...not to mention the side walls aren't so floppy and flimsy then.

I can only imagine applying the same methodology when running a SCROG would be beneficial....So perhaps (also just thinking out loud here) instead of going up to 15's you should look at 30's and fold them down in half...you are really only looking at a difference of 6" in diameter between the two - but the difference between 10's folded down and 5 gal buckets made me a really happy grower...

MOVING THIS CONVO FROM THE BUD PIC THREAD

Hey everybody,

Thanks for your concern and attention to detail!!
Very glad i posted up that photo when i did and this is one of the HUGEST bennefits of being a member the ICMAG community!!!

Been on a camping trip all weekend so i was unable to check on the plant untill now.
Deff have some thripes on a few leaves, ive counted 3 on one leaf and 4 more scattered on other leaves, glad to be dealing with them before they spread much.

Came from a clone that i took from one of my recent test grows, i had been aware they showed their ugly head on this clone, and thought i had eliminated them... guess you can never be too sure!

Looks like you might have a few spider mites there as well...
^Just thripes it looks like, small plant, easy to check everywhere - good eye tho and thanks for flagging :tiphat:
unless he already had them in his own garden
^Spot on Dans, right you are :shucks:
Having said that he needs to get a loupe and check. If he finds Mites they came from his room.
^ I did have the thripes already, not from you brother... Thought i killed them all, but they must have hidden out inside the reveging budlet clone i took few weeks ago. Luckily they are not in my flower cabinet, only my makeshift veg area.
those spots look a bit thrip-ish to me as well...hard to tell without seeing it in person but it looks like thrips in the pic...
^Right you are sir, right you are...
the pic Kcar posted (Budelight's plant) looks a lot like thrips damage. ...
I got the spinosad
i planned on doing a follow up treatment,
but the 1st round easily wasted those vermin
DOA the following Day :joint:
^^Already coated her in Safer 3 in 1 soap, if they dont disapear, they will be getting the Spinosad treatment next!

Thanks everybody for your concern and advice!!!

I was getting tired of looking for them. I went through a lot of leaves in the last 2 days. Thripe's are not difficult to get rid of.

But it's things like this - the ability to talk it through multiple heads and make level headed sense of what is going on that really makes us better as growers and people.

I love it when we can all come together for the simple cause of making someone's garden better...

It's what the site is SUPPOSED to be about...

:respect: ICm'ers.
