Heya Mr_D, thanks for dropping in and the kind words. That means a lot to me coming from you! I'm humbled. I hope Freds is stopping by to check in from time to time too. Here's to you both for the encouragement

I'm sure freds is still lurking, do wish he'd get over whatever pissed him off this time and get his ass back on here. It's just the internet bro . Don't make me come track ya down! Lots of people round here needing your advice still man :respect:

Hiya Pakalobro,

yeah mon! I'm at the plumbing now. In my spare time I'm trying to learn about mini split installation so I can handle that on my own... so much still to do tho. Have to start putting up drywall in my studio so I have a finished wall for the mini-split to hang on... not looking forward to doing it but it comes with the job title... still need to Orca the FR but I've got the install materials now to do that job, more supply runs were needed after the Orca showed up. Spend all my free time trying to get to the hardware store so I can finish or start a task. hehe i'm having fun tho so WTF. who cares, it will be done when it is done and it may never be truly ever "done" eh? work in progress such is the nature of our lives man, enjoy the ride.

Consider the Friedrich Breeze for a self install. Otherwise, Mitsubishi with professional help. Good luck. -granger

Hey mckush, there's a mini-split install tutorial in my vert redemption thread. You'll have to search for it, but there are two posts, a page or two apart that explain the whole process. Like granger mentioned the friedrich breeze models are designed to be installed by the casual user without any special tools. I highly recommend friedrich and Mitsubishi brand mini-splits. They are the best on the market hands down.

Hi Mr D, thanks. I'll check it out. In the meantime life is throwing me a curveball... I find myself in an unstable work environment so the prudent thing to do is shelf the mini-split plans for a few months while things play out. I'm "hoping" things work out so that I can do it this summer.

In the meantime I have a portable AC that I'm going to use. It only has a single exhaust port and no dedicated inlet port. the air comes in from the back of the unit. so... what I'm thinking about now is to run a couple of 6" ports into the room for A/C inlet/exhaust. Then for the inlet, fashion a cardboard adapter to a 6" duct and tape it together.

I'm on the fence but may dabble with exhausting into a 6" carbon filter on the outside of the area. I'm pretty sure this is a bozo no no tho....

i'm bummed about not getting this piece of gear in for my first run but hey, when life throws you lemons, scrounge for parts.....

alrighty then.... got the portable A/C installed and in place. I think it will do for a while. I've used it before in this location when it was uninsulated so I'm hopeful it will server "ok" here again.

Doing a test run with the epap at 600w for a few hours tonight with the AC unit set in the lung room.

Started on the Orca last night. It is definitely bright in there with the ePap and Orca walls. Going to have to start being aware when I'm in there of just how bright this light is so as not to give myself any sight damage.

I've got a bit of work to do to create the seal on the door but I think that should be an easy task. Then I have some more electric lines to run, one to the sump and another one or two to the FR/VR, probably need at least two circuits for FR/VR. not sure.

Pretty close to testing the sump. Been looking forward to that actually.

I don't get over to your place very often but it is coming along nicely. Did I see lights? Man, I'm getting excited.

What are you thinking about growing?

I've got a start on a seed bank. For the first couple of times, I'm going to do some autos by Sweet Seeds. Have 10x of 5 strains, so 50 auto beans. After that I have regular and fem beans. My idea was to learn on some autos and then by that time my veg locker is all set up and ready to go I will be set up to start vegging non auto. On the non-auto side I have a great selection too.

For the first run I'm undecided on plant count and how many to pop. I was initially thinking of 9 but may run 3x of each auto variety for 15. Popping 15 may only result in 9-12 anyway so that is what I was thinking.

Here is my auto selection:

Sweet Cream Caramel auto fem
Sweet Black Cream auto fem
Sweet Green Poison auto fem
Sweet Devil Cream auto fem
Sweet Trainwreck auto fem

I'm only using a single ePap light which has output from 600w to 1150w. Not sure yet how high I can run with my current A/C setup though.

I've always intended to run coco DTW and I'm thinking of 2 or 3 gal pots. Hand watering to start then I'll work a drip system.

These plants finish around 60 days after germination. So not much time but that is fine by me, I understand the implications of less time to recover from mistakes...but I'll deal with it.

For nutes I'm going to use Jacks and CalNit on RO water. I've not got the water supply part sorted out yet.

No new pics to post yet but I've not been sitting on my arse this past weekend. Plenty of honey-do's and daddy-do's but did squezze in some build time. I finished up the door to the FR. Finished the entrance door - finally.... and I've put up about 80-90% of the Orca, nearly done with that part. Wearing my air filter mask all the time when I'm spraying the rubber cement and making sure to get plenty of fresh air to the area too.

I also dug thru the old photos so that I could remember about where I left the drains in the vr locker floor and the floor of the main FR... Used a 4" hole saw and I think I came close enough, definately not centered on top of the open 1 1/2" drain line but, eh, good enough for plumbing I think.

pics soon my brothers

some pictures of my sump plumbed in. Still have to run GFI receptacle. At this point I hadn't yet cut out the floor to reveal the two drains.

Side view from the VR locker area. I'm going to create a polycarbonate lid for the sump area at some point.

The doors are all done, sound resistant and air proof. Only have a few odds and ends to go. I have one or two electric lines to install, the feed system can come later this summer. Bought 9 3gal pots and a 4x4 drain pan that I'll drill and plumb to the FR drain.

Beans are in a root riot and have been running the light for a few days to check out my systems.

Finally got the studio picked up and cleaned out enough for some amps and guitars! Playing music now baby, no more "please turn it down"s for moi. hehe

I'm going to do a few more things of the next couuple of weeks, do a pic dump, and then close this neverending build thread... I'm going to leave the rooms rough and finish them later this fall when it gets cooler again. a Mini might be in the works around July/Aug for sure tho.

peace
