is that oil vacuum purged?

Nah, that's just some winterized stuff. I purged most of the everclear out with a warm water bath. I believe there is still probably a little bit of ethanol in there since I had no vaccum, but I'm not too worried about a little ethanol. Still has a lot of terpenes too, pretty tasty :)

its nice with some bubble now and then i think the bubble hash is better then bho its much much cleaner after my opinion you dont really what you are smoking when they smoke bho allot of ppl gets some nasty black out when they smoke bho and it can cause allot of brain dmg. but yeah my opinion have a good one mate the plants are looking great

yeah, It try to avoid bho as much as I can. I really do prefer good bubble hash, but my washing machine got stuck in the mail and I got impatient =\ . That and the critical mass I have doesnt make great bubble hash, but I guess it actually makes some damn good oil!

how did you get the oil so light E

Not sure how the oil came out so light. I dont think I did anything different or special from what I've seen online.
I just lightly broke up the bud with my hands (wearing gloves), packed the tube, blasted directly into a pyrex measuring cup, let most of the butane evap off, added everclear, let it sit and react for about 30-40 minutes.
I then froze it for about 20 hours, filtered with coffee filters (still in freezer) and evaporated off the ethanol is a thin layer in a warm water bath.

I'm thinking it must be more strain dependent. I ran some Bruce Banner awhile back and it didn't come out nearly as light. Still good, but the color on this really is nice!

dummy moment I thought you did a wash with everclear not BHO ,,okay makes more sense why did you re-dissolve the BHO into the everclear?

I dont have a vaccum chamber or pump yet, so I cant really purge off the butane entirely (or close to it even I feel..). By winterizing you purge all butane. I think this is because the surface tension of the ethanol and oil mixture is much much less than that of the oil when it starts to set up.

I suppose I could have just dissolved it in everclear, then purged it without winterizing. I dont really like the waxy stuff though, Im a big fan of shatter/taffy. I would have gotten about a gram more probably, but I'd rather just have the purer stuff

I have yet to try QWISO, seems like it would be interesting. Think I would just run it with 95% instead ethanol though. I dont like the idea of using canned butane, but its all I have. Maybe in a year if things go well I can invest in a closed loop system and find a source of bottled pure butane. That would be nice. I prefer bubble, but everyone I know wants bho.

ive been making the QWISO from my trim ,,,very nice taste but the high is not as K.O as I would like ....maybe ill have to wash some buds and see if I could boost the potency

I gotta buy some screens and give dry sift a go. It's the best from what I hear. It just takes time to get the cleaning technique down, as well as to do it in general. You can get it to over 90% trichome heads, even 99%. That sounds damn tasty.

Think I screwed up a bit on the last harvest of Banner.

I had the buds in the brown bag and was gonna jar them up. I've been doing it a bit early, or so I thought. I decided to leave the buds in the brown bag for about an extra 12-15 hours to make sure they would be ready for the jars. When I felt them, they felt just about right. Maybe a bit dry, but I swear I could still feel moisture and they weren't really even crumbling.

I put them in the jars with a Hygrometer about 2 days ago and the RH hasnt gotten above 46%. I remember reading somewhere that the curing process stops below 50%, and there's nothing you can do once they hit that point to start up the curing process again.

Seems like my stuff has been drying quicker now, by about 2 days. Has really thrown me off. This is exactly how it was though 10 years ago when I first grew. I only needed maybe 4 days before I could jar it up before, from chop to jar.

Must just be since summer is almost here. I've never grown in the winter before like I did this year. It must be more humid in winter or something in CO, and I guess the cooler temperatures slow down the drying process.

Oh well, lesson learned. I gotta trust my gut. I was gonna jar em on Sunday night but I thought "3 days from chop, to jar? Impossible. I better not risk any bud rot... I'll give em 12 more hours."

Still good smoke, just doesnt smell nearly as Dank as my last Banner harvest.

Really got the Banner down now. I gotta take some pics. Massive trichomes all over her. Great smoke too, I'm very glad I kept her around. Her and her manly parts......

Hah, guess that's what happens when I make Bruce Banner angry. She turns into the incredible Hermie. Then you really dont like her when shes angry lol.

Nice dry rack!

I had a harvest dry in two days on me :(

90*F + santa ana winds. NEVER again. It actually wasn't bad - but crispy for ever.

With a dark cooled room and my new trim method it takes up to 10 days for a dry :)

Thanks man!

Do you dry or wet trim? I've been doing wet, think I should at least try dry and see if it helps.

That little rack has helped out quite a bit. I want to upgrade it, put it in some sort of cabinet or sealed room or something. The plastic wrap just isnt cutting it I think, too many little leaks everywhere. That and I left the fan on a bit high.
Think Im gonna get another little thermo/hygro and have it in there permanently to better monitor the process. I bet there were a few times the temp got up way to high and I left the vent fan on kinda high too.

Last cure was just about perfect though. Smells so nice, and the perfect consistency for bowls.

The last Bruce Banner I'll be harvesting for a few months. I also just chopped the Critical Mass I had going in flower (23 days). Herms over about 80% of her. Was NOT going to fuck around with that just so I could have a few more oz's of bud I never smoke. Kinda sucks cause she was looking so good.

Very smooth. It's more of a hybrid high I feel, more leaning more towards Sativa. Doesnt knock you out unless you want it to. Works really well for anxiety. Hits you pretty quick, not a creeper. Definitely a keeper.

I wet trim fan leaves and anything with NO FROST using fiskars.

I hang to dry by fishing line - on my ceiling in my bed room - ghetto kinda.

Its the only safe space I got. Light doesn't matter as long as your buds aren't sitting underneath extreme (HID or equivalent) direct light - it does destroy THC but only on the level of sitting in the sun all day to dry. but mine get CFL action all the time and their better than the clinic weed.

Air flow = 1 6inch hydrofarm fan with a filter hung on the ceiling in the corner next to the fishing lines. I leave that on a low setting with a speed controller - sometimes - when im feeling paranoid about smell. otherwise I don't even use it.

The only other air movement woudl be when the A/C turns on and the natural passive air flow through my room into my grow closet.

Because I leave a lot of leaf material on - mostly everything with frost excluding some frosted fan leaves - The dry takes longer.

Minimum 7 days for the strains with little leaf - but up to 12 days I noticed for dense strains that I left lots of material on.

But it lets me trim a second time. I pick off all those half cut leaves on top of nonstick parchment paper and then fold that up and leave the trim to dry for longer.

And that point im cleaning up the buds - selecting the ones for the hash pile(larf) and jarring up the girls.

I tried that hygrometer cure stuff - big pain in the ass IMO if you aren't doing it all the right way. Best way to dry is in the freezer.
That takes the longest but it yields the best results for taste - potency translation.

Harvest normal but only dry the buds for 4 days - then put in a shoe box - unsealed and in about 3 weeks those freezer buds will be - perfect. At first they wont' smell - but let them warm up in a jar for an hour and once you open it up :D

Looking at the BB - i can tell your trim work is very light and easy - mostly fan leaves with the exception of a few large sugar leaves - you barely need to trim.

Also means you don't have much leaf material holding in the moisture / providing extra.

I think if you take away the direct air flow - and just have a nice passive but stable movement of air you won't have such a fast dry.

I hope this helps some how lol

Sweet man, thanks! Lots of great info there!

I've never tried the freezer method, but thinking back I remember my Dad doing something like that, and his stuff was always amazing. Any temperature recommendations for that? I have a chest freezer for my bubble needs and can set it to a specific temperature just for the freeze curing. Ill definitely try it with a couple oz and see how it turns out. I bet when its done right its so damn tasty and stanky!

Yeah, the Banner is a gift and a curse with the trim lol. I guess it's really just a gift, once I master the harvesting and curing. I have a 180 CFM 6" duct booster fan I use, but I use it on the lowest setting it will still spin power on. I have a variable amp controller thing, I run it at about 30v out of 130v. Anything below that and the blade wont spin. My best guess is around 30 CFM for a 12 cubic foot dry rack. Should get a computer fan probably. Shit, that'd be nice. I could run it off a battery then and not trip over the f ing cord constantly.

Thanks again man!
:thank you:

use the thread title search and search freezing

maybe something comes up.

There was one thread here about curing/drying in the freezer.

No temps were specified but I would assume they were standard freezer temperatures so you can try a few different ones and find out which is best if you really want.

a PC fan sounds perfect. You ever see those huge rubbermaid dry containers?

Heres what my dry line kinda looks like still - ive moved it added others and theres even more bud on them now :D

Theres another pictuer around some where of all the buds / lines

Nice man! I really like the fishing line. Stronger, and also no pesky fibers getting all over the place or catching on gloves. I will definitely be getting some of that today or tomorrow

Oh yeah, I think they have some of those tubs at the Walmart by my place. Only like $10 for the big ones too. Think I'll definitely get one of those now too

Love this! And I love CM! Mine have grown nearly as consistently, but I just don't have the room to do like I would like with my grows.
Congrats!! Those look so darn yummy!!!

Oh, I do have some lifesaver x Blk Dom growing outside---she is happy as hell.
