Talking to kids about the garden. Dilema.

It's a tough situation.

It seems a lot of new or asipiring growers are very nonchalant with what they are doing or plan on doing these days, big difference from when I took up herb gardening when it was all top secret kind of shit. Im still that way to this day, just cant let go of old habits I guess.

I was at a party the other day, and the host was telling everyone about how they wanted to put a weed garden in their backyard, first 5 mintutes I was there a really low flying helicopter flew over head. Im like what the fuck the noobs dont even know they are in a flight path.

Your situation is a sticky one, it sounds like the kids parents are the nonchalant type too. Sounds like the backyard is a bad situation to grow in, a locked room in the basement might be easier to hide, only a matter of time till the kids figure out there is something in the shed. This is kind of the reason why I wont work with others, they never seem to take security seriously enough.

Also, what are you going to do in the summer when the kids are home from school, they'll be there all the time.

Educate the children so that the next generation won't be as brainwashed as we are. :)

You can grow in Colorado with children in the house as long as the grow is in a secure locked facility. You have to do that anyway for it to be compliant.

Everyone grows, and everyone still has their kids. Either every single person has great luck, or they don't give a fuck as long as you follow the rules.

It's legal after all. The fed's could give a fuck about 25 plants in a guys basement, or shed. :)

So I'm setting up and maintaining a grow for a friend. Typical couple with kids... The grow is for recreational private use. Friend of a friend stiuation... anywho.

Its your typical backyard shed grow, and I got my materials laid out, buckets everywhere etc.. etc..

The kids come home, from school they're playing in the backyard and they're saying hi GGW!.. whatcha doing?.. Young kids.. elementary school.. The oldest one (jr high) watches them. But its their backyard I cant exactly shoo them away. Mom and dad are in and out of the house all day...

Typical Questions I get all day long...

Kid: Whatcha doing?.. Can I help?...
GGW: Um no, I'm doing work for your mom and dad..

Kid: What are you making?.
GGW: Uh... Stuff...

I guess I feel like I should talk to them and say.. this is your parents garden, and we dont talk about it ok?.. Or should I just keep dodging the questions. I dunno.. I've tried bribe them by letting them dig in my cooler for a sodapop. I guess I'm a little freaked out.. paranoia, security concerns.. Its got me thinking..

that's for the parents to discuss with their children and setup whatever boundaries need to be setup, so that something that you have to talk to the parents about.

maybe setup something small for them to work on, on the side. never too early to introduce them to science and nothing is cooler than hydro. (tub system, pvc and 2liter bottles, etc)

but with the work you need to do then they do need to stay outta your way and stop asking you questions like that though cause it puts you in a bad spot constantly

lock isnt gonna block the smell ,or the addict style routines and behavior patterns especially if the parents and you are drinkers . mind fucking kids like that and expecting them not to ever change or have thoughts about what the 3 of you are doing seems kinda harsh and handicaps them in life imo.

Wow.

Bunch of negligent addicted alcoholics growing weed, open venting so everybody can smell it. "Mind fucking" the kids... kids handicapped because of a grow.

Its all good... your opinion but not reality.

Peace.

You're a contractor, it's the parent's job to manage their kids behavior. If they ask questions, your reply should typically be "Your parents aren't paying me to jibber jabber, go ask them."

kids aint stupid...with the net and all the info available to em .......
Kids are as stupid as the net is.

Look at what the internet has taught the Florida Governor, that 1 overhyped strain (held by 1 group of growers) should be the only one that should be legally grown.

Well, in Governor Voldemort's defense, he only learned that because Sanjay Gupta told him so. Sanjay must have stock in the organizations that possess that strain.

never underestimate the intelligence of a child at any age, depending upon the age they could be getting over on you and you not even know it, and it happens all the time.

parents understand that as a teen you have your own lil world and that's cool, but some of these teens/kids want their social subculture to be their source of norms and values, when they should be kept more around their own familes

but then again these days some ppl aint worth shit so why be around them in the first place and kids can see right through bullshit like most of us

kids are way more informed than when I was a kid... all we had was the library and the dewy decimal setup... I didn't even know about weed till I was like 13 and was smoking it at 14...peace

Okay,
Did you ever hear of a TV show long ago called "Kids Say the Darndest Things"?

You're the star if the kids say something and it's an illegal grow.

Tell the parents what to do and make a lot of space between you and them. This place called IC Mag is a great resource to find everything you need to know and then some.
Let them explain why there are street lights in the shed.

You don't want to have this conversation:

"Whaddya in for?"

"Stupidity."

i just dont like lies and games ,or parents who tell there kids ganja plants are tomato plants ..

Agreed, never had the intent to lie. However I do not have to be explicit. Hence my dilema.

Besides... this is just pot. by itself its pretty harmless stuff. However this is not for kids.. (duh) I've pretty much told them this is not for kids this is not for you. This is your parents stuff.

id probably want to know what they were paying him to do everyday in a shed with locked doors and id wonder why he never brings any tools or supplies .

Actually no, I recently brought out materials out the location.

And I do have a bag of tools just for hydro, PH/PPM meters, non contact thermometer. , basic tool kit, clone gel. markers, tags, scissors. drill, measuring cup.. Duct tape.. dont forget that stuff. :)

And yes I drag that bag to every location..

Growing medicinal marijuana with kids in the house is a huge controversy.

I say go for it! Its your right as human and as American to provide yourself medicinal relief. Educate your children in every detail of whats going on in your home and why. Explain the difference between legal and illegal, medicine and drug, right and wrong. Keep locks on doors and instruct them to stay away from your back yard plants or green house. As much as they might want to help. Lol

There's just no way to keep it all out of their sight so embrace it. Don't let the school or an episode of "cops" lead them to believe mommy and daddy do drugs. If they're educated they'll understand.

My kids know everything and know NEVER talk about it to anyone outside our family.

They also know that this is Cali baby and out here we do things a little different.

Touchy subject when it comes to kids. This week in Minnesota a 9 year old girl waled into a police station and turned her parents in for growing because she didn't like the smell, and the parents were shotguning her dog.

My ex hated her parents smoking when she was small, and made threats, but became a smoker herself later on.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...police-station-turns-PARENTS-growing-pot.html

Lol What a little brat. She's going to be a handful when she grows up.

Seriously the parents were being irresponsible as fuck. Acting like teenage kids themselves. Who the fuck shootguns there dogs infront of there kids...?

Douchebag parents that probably need there asses wooped.

I medicate in my garage. And my kids aren't allowed in there during or after my 1 bong rip 4 times daily dosing sessions.

Its all in the hands of the patient/parent. There's a right way and a wrong way to do it. It just takes a little common sense which like 60% of the population lacks.

If you do stupid things regularly(whether it be purposeful or accidental)... Probably*NOT*a good candidate to grow cannabis with kids around the house...
