Colloidal Silver @ 50 PPM, 2 weeks into Flowering - Time to See Fem-Balls ?

If you do a thread title search for "colloidal" several threads come up, including Cabron's great homemade CS thread.

Consensus seems to be that 40-50 ppm, sprayed daily, starting 2 weeks before flip, and continuing till male blooms show. You can make your own or use a *quality* store bought CS. Both will work. Good luck all. -granger

I did the same thing and couldn't get it above 20 ppm. Did you check the strength or just spray it on? If you have to buy the wire then why not just buy colloidal silver and cut out the extra work and hassle? At least that my thinking.
buying distilled water and silver is actually much cheaper than buying cs spray. plus you never know how reliable it is when you buy it online. id prefer to make it myself..

I didn't check the ppm, but it still worked.

I bought the silver for $20, i think, and have made about 10 litres and still have at least half of the wire.

It's worth mentioning that you need to use distilled water, I initially used boiled tap water and had all sorts of black and brown crap coming off my silver after eight hours.(half the silver from one wire was gone as well)

ended up tossing that first batch after using it once or twice. Now I use an airstone to bubble the distilled water and have been using that for a couple weeks. Too soon to tell if it's working, only been in 12/12 for a week.

You have to use distilled water but your going to get black brown stuff in it regardless. It's just oxidized silver and a normal part of the process. You will occasionally need to switch polarity on the cathode/anode so that built up is exchanged between the two. One is just depositing on the other and very little is being mixed into the water.

If you buy "colloidal silver" spray, it might work, but it very well might also badly burn the plant. I got an AKR to produce pollen sacs with some Biosilver spray (mixed up some tap water, 50ppm and 240ppm spray), but I got a generator and am now just spraying it once daily with some 16ppm cs I made to keep it hormonally steady until the pollen sacs get a big bigger.

If you CAN, you should make your own cs... You can get a generator for like $70 including shipping or you can make your own for much much cheaper, but if you think about it, it can take upwards of about 15-25 dollars worth of bought cs to reverse a single plant... You are more likely going to do it more than once, and if you fail ever, it is a waste of $20 with premade stuff, vs a few cents with homemade stuff...
Whether you make your own, or buy it, I recommend you decant any particulates that settle to the bottom, and filter it through a coffee filter. Then do the same the next day. It should be a pale amber color with nothing floating around in it that you can see.

That said, I haven't tried the homemde stuff on a plant from the beginning tho so I am not even sure it is working to reverse it, or if it can. Very curious to try it in the next 3 weeks or so and see how it works. Also, it does not seem to burn the plant, even when drenched in it, like the biosilver spray did everywhere it touched. That's great because the other spray, even if only applied once, made everywhere it touched look decrepit. Missing leaf tips on forming leaves, leaves curling up, burn spots, etc.

I'm going to try the Tiresias Mist first, only thing is that I haven't even ordered it yet, and I have nothing to use it on right now. It will probably be 60-90 days or longer before I give it a review. I'm subscribed to this thread, I'll tune in often to read other opinions.

The best price found on search was at EBay.

I disagree. Making your own CS is a waste of time and money unless you need a very large amount. The cost of silver wire, 9v batteries, fish air pump, and distilled water will be at least 2x the cost of a bottle.

Yeah, you don't need any pump.

The cost of the wire and battery and water might be the same as a bottle of pre made CS but then you have the items to make more in the future whenever you need it.

If you only want to reverse 1 small plant then buying a premade bottle may be the same price or slightly cheaper...

1 small bottle wont go very far, but it's your choice.

Yeah, you do. You need something to agitate the water, and the pump is the cheapest. You can actually see the ions flow in a line to the cathode. Those ions need to get evenly distributed to create CS otherwise they'll just precipitate out before any significant concentration is reached. If your going for like 7 ppm then I guess you don't need it.

the cs thread says nothing about using an air pump it recommends no pump actually....so whats the real deal then?

a cs generator isnt a waste unless your only going to reverse a single plant one time.. and never breed with a female again.?

all the people i know who make them.. are hobby breeders or breeders/ chuckers.

You don't need a pump Duab, i have never used a pump and it works fine for me.
Have you even made your own CS before or are you just repeating what you have read somewhere?

I have no clue what ppm mine is, but it doesn't really matter what ppm it is if it works.

You have to find the right one, but some CS threads will mention the pump. You will absolutely need it if you intend to get a relatively high ppm, although that high of a ppm might not be needed. See below.

Yes I've made it, and that's why I insist on the pump. I have a PPM pen and without the pump the ppm was like 7. I have never tried to reverse sex with anything less than 34 ppm, so if you say you've reversed sex with that low of ppm I'm not going to argue that. My argument is that the pump is needed for a high ppm, but that doesn't mean that the recommended ppm needs to be that high to reverse sex.

I had a look back into the CS thread and it does, which i somehow didn't notice before, mention that a pump is recommended.

Anyway, if you are lazy like myself, i have made it with just dangling the wire into a 1 litre or 2 litre bottle of demineralised water for 12-48 hours, and the spray works at reversing sex.
