Why don't we get positive rep points when someone find our posts "helpful"?

I think you get 1 point. Takes a while for that to add up....
Nah. They are all grey in my window. I think only green counts. Just doesn't make sense. Why bother having it if it doesn't even give rep? I give people rep the old way then like the post afterwards.

good question, I have always ask myself about the 2 different colours, green and grey?? I have always though that the colour depends of who give you the point, if the persosn is "important" green if not grey

Still wondering why someone who runs the site or a mod hasn't answered the question?
One doesn't get any discounts on seeds or the such.....so I really do not pay it any attention 
you still receive rep but when it is such a low amount it shows up grey, it's the same for newer members that have a low rep if they give you k+ it shows up grey..

Doesn't alway seem to work like that iv got green and grey rep off the same members.
I was under the impression that green rep has been added to your rep points and grey was awaiting to be added, but even this dont seem to ring true. Iv had green rep this morning and its not changed my rep points.
Hopefully Skip will show up after the hoildays and clear this up for everyone.
i think the amount of rep given by finding a post helpful is tied to the rep level of the member giving it.most members only give the minimum default which i think is half a point all the up to i believe 10 points from members with 10000+ points.
you want your rep points to be worth something?
its really simple...
buy a pack of seeds from seedbay or seed boutique
grow them
do a thread in the appropriate breeder forum,take some pics,everyone likes bud porn
heres the tricky bit....actually finish the thread,do a smoke report,fill out a grow report.
now you have at least one complete grow thread,sign up for a test grow.
if you get testers,actually follow through and do a thread on them when you say you will.
once you complete one or two test grows and establish a rep for following through most of the breeders here will happily send you free seeds...

So basically in the short time iv been a member here on icmag all 1433 post iv rated NOT 1 of them have even added a single rep point to any member?
I could understand if that was the case for new members with less than 50 post but not (full) members.
Tbh im quite shocked and annoyed, didnt know till this thread that my vote/rating of post doesnt count for SHIT.
