If you give me your grow area size, budget and country I might be able to give you some suggestions later.

flower tent 1.8m x 1.8m (6X6)
veg 1.2m x 1.2m (4x4)

can go $2.5k
and i am down under (Australia)

Gets very hot down there during the summer right and is that your main problem?

hot for most of the year...we get about 6 weeks of 'winter'...and high humidity.

no air con or dehumidifier due to power constraints...pushing it now with what i got so would like to go down in power by 25% to stop electric issues altogether...

currently on a total of 2200 watts for both veg (400) and flower (1800)
plus 2x6 inch can fans, 1x4 inch can fan and 8 inch room exhaust fan would like to be able to use 1x6 can fan (flower) and 1x4 inch fan (veg) only

For your situation where heat is your main issue along with cutting your electric use,you really need units with quality parts that are not driven too hard.
The lower the quality of the LED's and drivers the lower the efficiency and the more heat.
The harder you drive the parts the less efficient they become and the more heat is made.
Most of the bargain chinese panels use lower quality parts and are driven hard and the harder you drive the cheap parts the shorter their life span.
I found a panel that should work well for you but I don't have time right now to go over it,I'll post the info tonight.

From Rapid LED

http://www.rapidled.com/horticulture/

http://www.onyxgrow.com/veg.html

http://www.onyxgrow.com/bloom.html

You would need 4 bloom and 1 veg and they would sell you the 5 units for $2000 US plus around $150 shipping. I don't know how you would handle the duty and taxes but I'm sure Rapid could help you on that.

These are made with high quality parts and driven at 70% which is good, talked to them today and they said they have a less than 1% failure rate during their warranty.

Don't buy anything where they won't tell you the exact parts they use and their actual power draw and such. They should show spectral graphs tell you power draws and give you PAR or umole readings and if they tell you they can't give you any info you want because it's a trade secret or some other crap,it's junk.

Also, I'd stick with COBs with a wide-angle reflector rather than 3W-ers. As I understand it the problem with LEDs is not their penetration but rather their coverage. Search for the discussion in the "LED Help Please!!!!!!!!" thread...

thanks for you suggestion morgan...they look good but seem to be driven at nearly 90% though...

They are driven at 70%

then there is something i am missing here: 10 watt x 28= 280 x 70%= 196 watts??? not 250 watts as stated...250/280 = 89%
so are the fans etc using 54 watts?? my understanding of electric current etc is sketchy at best...

do i understand correctly that it has a remote power supply?

i have not been able to find any reviews for the grow light or any grow logs.

on the surface they look like a quality item and the company seems to have a good rep when it comes to aquarium lights

they are a very small unit and light compared to other light panels out there...but will they cover a 3 x 3 area effectively that i would need each in flower to do?

i appreciate your input and assistance morgan as if i have issues with a product from the US i am half a world away and have had previous negative experiences with warranty and service issues on high end items in the past when buying overseas...

Fans, power supply and drivers all use electricity,if I remember right a 1000 watt HPS ballast uses over 100 watts.

Yes the power supply has a 15' cord so you could have it outside your tent, which would help tent temps.

Their horticulture lights have only been on the market for a few months so finding grows with them might be tough at this point. Their aquarium lights lights have a good rep, their grow lights just use a different spectrum with the same quality parts. I almost bought one myself, they were on my short list. I opted for a more expensive panel that had adjustable power levels.

I've done grows and still have two tents that I use 2700k Cree LED's in and they do a great job.

They assured me that 4 units should do the job in a 6' x 6' tent.
I'm using a new Area 51 XGS 190 (it draws 195 watts at the wall)in a 3'x3' tent now with 37 watts of LED side lighting and it seems to be doing a great job,it uses Cree 5 watt LED's.

This is not high end but it uses quality parts and fits your budget. When you compare it to china direct prices it may seem high but most of that stuff is junk and over priced for what their giving you and good luck getting them to honor a warranty.

You could always buy just one to test out but Cree and Meanwell are top quality and I wouldn't hesitate to use anything built with those parts. As a matter of fact I just bought some Cree LEDs and Meanwell drivers for a DIY build I'm doing and I'm only waiting on the power supply for the fans to put it together.

again thanks for your help in this....generally i prefer quality over quantity, but this grow not only covers my needs but those of 3 others who have varying degrees of medical/disability issues. so it is not just my $$ i have to look out for...

are pics possible? what sort of yield are you getting with the crees? with the groups current needs we need to (ideally) pull 40 oz/per crop. we are also looking for consistency as 2 of the group have issues when they run out that considerably lower their quality of life...

i understand where you are coming from on the chinese made leds but topled have a strong presence on other forums, have excellent customer service and growers getting quality results...hence my initial interest...

I under stand your caution, especially after you explained your group situation. It might be a bit of a learning curve too for growing under LED. If you could somehow expand your grow a bit and add 2 more lights for some added plants or get another tent and phase the transition to LED in a couple steps. I don't have enough posts here to put up picks yet but I have plenty on another forum if you want to check them out. I like to experiment with spectrum's and DIY so there's lots of stuff from T5 HO,induction and LED I've done. I go by the name captainmorgan on the rollitup dot org forums. I've even gotten .9 grams per watt at 25 watts per square foot with about 6 weeks veg using Cree household bulbs. I'll check out topled and give you my opinion.

unfortunately the grow space is full...i understand your slowly slowly approach, but i rarely work like that...more a 'balls to the wall' sort of guy...but yes i can transition by removing one hps at a time slowly adding leds as replacements...

found you over @ RIU and will look through your grows...
