Honestly I'll man up right here and say I know jack about greenhouses. I know they work all over but I don't know how they manage without a lot of supplemental lighting north of here.
Again, though, most of what I hear about for greenhouses around here are shoddy cold frames. It's not enough for our climate. The only 3 people I knew with cold frames this year all had tons of dabs from their premature (and MOLDY) buds. The results those things pull aren't different from outdoors because the conditions aren't different from outdoors. I'm sure it's a different story if it's a project with any sort of experience or financing behind it.
IMO the only lights that will still be used is a select number of greenhouse growers that have clone only strains they grow. They might be powerful HID/LED lights, or they might be cheap fluorescents that put out just enough light to control the photoperiod.Do all growers have to grow under lights? -SamS
Yeah if it is untrimmed or even machine trimmed you’re talking rock bottom prices. The way I see it the market is going to continue to split. Top notch products will still retain a somewhat high price, but the average to bottom end products are going to drop. The ability to turn crap trim into gold through extraction will also play an important role. If BHO remains popular then its price will fall as more consumers turn away from the mediocre strains in favor of BHO. This will in turn cause a greater split in the prices between top and mid/bottom quality products.Cannabis in the USA will be produced for a much cheaper price in the near future when legal, all the price supports will be gone.
I bet the biggest expense besides taxes is hand manicuring, so sell it un-manicured, or machine manicured, wholesale, you could let the consumer buy it cheaper and manicure it themselves. -SamS
Yes sir, and I really think it will be Cannafornia that provides for the nation, as it does for many agricultural products including cannabis. Just my opinion though. It is a basic law of the universe "Cannabis Osmosis" that anyplace that has a cheaper surplus of Cannabis finds a way to get it to places where there is not enough or the prices are higher. Same with better quality. -SamS
Another thing that strikes me as odd is that those that live in the fantasy land of mmj; and who should know better think that it will ever be legal in certain SE and Midwestern states.
That's what we thought about Canada, then things started looking complicated. It will be de-criminalized across the entire nation in fairly short order. More states are coming online. When states see revenue coming in, they will be down with it. The "old guard" is dying off. Proof of medicinal value is indisputable. No doubt in my mind that "we" are finally "winning" the war against us. The wall is crumbling, and if Obama doesn't decriminalize before leaving office, the next President will if it's Christie, who has already called for the abolishment of "the war on drugs". It's only a matter of time now, just as prohibition of alcohol went state by state. All the dominoes are falling. Other countries are decriminalizing also (Portugal, Uruguay, and several others are considering it, including Mexico).
You are the one living in a "fantasy world" if you think they are going to keep a lid on this. Cat's already out of the bag. :kitty:

Tax revenue is about the only way I see most southern states joining the party I say that having lived and been all over the south. I have a hard time seeing Texas especially west texas legalizing cannabis place is still stuck in a 1950s time warp outside of Odessa/midland. Florida is looking at decriminalizing that's something I never ever thought could be possible when I lived there in 2001
Faced with losing ALL federal funding or passing a new law thats specific to their community, I think most of the south's going to go for federally regulated weeds but not allow it inside their own borders.
A couple years ago Governor Rick Perry threatened to secede from the union because of a federal mandate that required all Texas govt. facilities switch from incandescent bulbs to CFLs.
Sooooooo... Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh...
Hello all,
Question...When a new state legalizes for medicinal use, what are the starting prices who sell their harvest to dispensaries starting out?
