Will they find the plane?

And some will believe any crackpot theory no matter how much evidence is presented to the contrary , then move on to the next one that comes along , serial sheep.

In the middle ages you would have believed in witches , in Victorian times in fairies and talking to the dead , more recently in homeopathy , eugenics , pyramid power and aliens.
....

A standard factor in these debates is that they love to demean their opponents in some way , calling them naive, deluded or blind or disinfo working for the oppressor.
They usually think that they alone have access to the real truth that the majority of people do not , thinking they’ve noticed coincidences that other people either haven’t noticed, or refuse to.

Most of the theories involve some elite group or a minority that has power over them , the politics of envy and the arrogance of youth with a feeling of helplessness within a political setup where voteing changes little.

The Hitler reference is interesting , a deliberate and real conspiracy to blame an identifiable minority for the post war economic situation in Germany useing eugenics and building on a long existing european anti semitism , only a hardcore brainwashed minority of germans believed it to the end.

like this, you mean?
no wonder these topics are controversial.

still betting on Diego GarCIA.

Hahaha I COMPLETELY AGREE

....even if the plane was found right away, these same ppl would be making threads with different conspiracies. EVEN IF ITS FOUND NOW we will get a slew more threads with new conspiracies. For some folks, logic is not in their vocabulary

These conspiracy theorists must have never heard of Occam's razor.

Doubt they have heard of these either . . .

Communal reinforcement
Self deception
Pareidolia
Non sequitor
Ad hoc hypothesis
Confirmation bias

And , most importantly , critical thinking.

so your simplest theory is that conspiracy theorists are incapable of logic?

the razor is just a tool, it doesn't define outcome. it guides examination of disparate views.

Elliott Sober[edit]

The philosopher of science Elliott Sober once argued along the same lines as Popper, tying simplicity with "informativeness": The simplest theory is the more informative one, in the sense that less information is required in order to answer one's questions.[34] He has since rejected this account of simplicity, purportedly because it fails to provide an epistemic justification for simplicity. He now expresses views to the effect that simplicity considerations (and considerations of parsimony in particular) do not count unless they reflect something more fundamental. Philosophers, he suggests, may have made the error of hypostatizing simplicity (i.e. endowed it with a sui generis existence), when it has meaning only when embedded in a specific context (Sober 1992). If we fail to justify simplicity considerations on the basis of the context in which we make use of them, we may have no non-circular justification: "just as the question 'why be rational?' may have no non-circular answer, the same may be true of the question 'why should simplicity be considered in evaluating the plausibility of hypotheses?'".[35]

good conspiracies are compartmentalized so only principals have the entire picture.

how many different stories have we to link...

suicide by pilot(s)
hijacking by pilot(s)
hijacking by terrorists
remote takeover by extraneous forces
just a crash
aliens

use that razor to shave some of these down. half remove the pilot from responsibility.

It’s been one month since family members of the passengers on board Flight MH370 saw their loved ones, but with the most promising leads to date, there is some hope the missing plane may finally be located, as Navy divers search the waters following — what investigators believe — are pings detected from the plane’s black boxes.

In common parlance the razor can be taken to mean something like . . .

In the absence of definitive proof , the simplest explanation is usually , but not definitely , the correct one.

So , is it more likely that the aircraft crashed in the ocean due to pilot error /deliberate action by the pilot or a succession of faults in the aircraft systems. .

Or that it was flown to Garcia and the passengers have been eliminated , with all the complications and potential fallout with China that would involve.

Until the flight recorders are recovered , if ever , there will be endless speculation , as with previous aircraft that crashed for no obvious reason like Air France Flight 447 which generated many strange theories at the time.

Of course , even if found some theorists will believe they were planted there by the US navy as part of the cover up.

This site has some good info on the causes of crashes.

They've found more Pings and narrowed the search area

Excerpt from the Guardian

The search area for the missing Malaysia airlines flight MH370 has been drastically reduced after two further detections of pings consistent with those of a black box from a plane late on Tuesday.

The head of Australia’s Joint Agency Co-ordination Centre, Angus Houston, said on Wednesday the Australian defence vessel Ocean Shield had detected two further pings on Tuesday – one in the afternoon and one in the late evening – that had allowed the search area to be further refined to 75,000 sq km. He said he was “optimistic” the plane would be found soon.

“I can now tell you that Ocean Shield has been able to reacquire the signals on two further occasions; late yesterday afternoon and late last night,” Houston said.

The smaller area would make the task far more manageable and would allow searchers to “plan much tighter search patterns”.

“Ocean Shield is now searching a reduced and much more manageable search area on the ocean floor,” he said.

look up Amber Lyons.. she was a CNN investigative journalist.. n she came out saying that the main stream media .. is spreading rumors and lies.. an knows they are doing it .. so i dont believe anything the mainstream media says..

Then why do you believe her? She was part of the beast. Could it be you believe her because what she says supports what you want to believe?

Even if found the flight recorders will shed little to no light on why the plane disappeared since we know the plane flew long enough for the voice recorders to have over written themselves 3 times. The data recorders would at best only reveal numbers upon which to speculate a theory. For example if nothing in the data record showed signs of mechanical malfunction then they could logically surmise that it was the result of deliberate intent. What exactly that intent was would still likely be a mystery unless the person or people responsible declared their intent within the last two hour period before the crash so as to still be on the voice recorder.

Modern recorders log a lot of detail in digital form from onboard systems as well as the obvious ones such as altitude , airspeed and heading , they should be able to narrow it down to a deliberate act by the pilot or another person.

Though there are lockable cockpit doors retrofitted since 911 they are not foolproof , there is no toilet and pilots use those further back in the plane , only Israeli planes have two doors in an airlock arrangement so a hijack is not impossible.

If it turns out to be a fault in the aircraft the cost of modification and compensation will run into billions , the manufacturer will likely blame the pilot if they can get away with it , this has happened before.

Regardless of what really happened , its probably time to make some changes including

Increase battery life and signal strength of the flight recorders and add a floating beacon which detaches on impact

Increase the time of cockpit voice recorders to cover the entire flight duration and not just two hours.

Real time streaming of data to satellite , and introduce cockpit video which pilots have fought against.

Transponders that cannot be turned off by the crew.

Fit IFF to stop air defence systems inadvertently targeting civilian aircraft.

Upgrade and integrate air traffic control to European/North American standards.

Malaysia actually opted out of the real time tracking.
Whats fucked up is that the equipment is on that plane already.
They just didnt want to pay for the service.

Was not aware of this , seems strange as improved scheduled maintenance and reduced downtime would offset the cost.

Malaysian Airline System Bhd opted out of a Boeing Co service to collect real-time performance data from jets like Flight 370 for use in planning maintenance, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The carrier harvests the same information itself, said the person, who asked not to be identified because Flight 370 is under investigation.

The search for the missing Boeing 777-200 entered a fifth day today, leaving investigators baffled at the lack of details on what was happening on the plane when radar contact was lost on March 8

Having Boeing’s Airplane Health Management programme potentially would have provided a backup to the airline’s own surveillance of the plane, said David Greenberg, a former operations executive at Delta Air Lines Inc.

Boeing pulls in that information to mine data and help airlines spot mechanical faults early, providing carriers another window on their operations.

Onboard computers track performance of pivotal airplane systems and send the information to airlines through a messaging technology known as the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, or Acars.

Boeing taps the same computer data via satellite links for subscribers to its service.

About 75 per cent of Boeing 777s, the planemaker’s biggest twin-engine model, use the maintenance and monitoring program, according to a 2013 company presentation.

My youngest granddaughter seems to have misunderstood picking up pings , she asked me yesterday with a straight face , why was the plane full of ping pong balls ?. . .

Maybe she was being sarcastic , runs in the family.

This I fully agree with and if not for the entire fleet of airlines then at least for those airplanes flying over vast oceans and in areas where hijackings are more likely to occur. These things should have happen at least some of them, after the Air France crash off of S. America that took so long to solve. Perhaps now there will be much more pressure brought to bare in making these changes reality?

Some people should spend more time outside, away from the tv an the internet(don't believe ANY of it). Airplanes have disappeared without a trace before, and undoubtedly it will happen again, with or without the boogeyman's assistance.
