I did enjoy Gothika with Halle Berry. Thought it was a fairly original story line with some nice thrills in it.

John Carpenter's 'The Thing'

Wilford Brimley pre dia-be-tes, Kurt Rusell in a Sombrero, shape shifting aliens, some of the BEST make-up effects ever, and it's set to the errie back drop of a research facility in Antartica.

It blends the line between horror and sci-fi but I think it's in my top 5 for both categories.

Saw the Exorcist when it was first released in theatres.Me and a friend saw it,and then stopped at McDonald's which was selling green McShamrock shakes for St Paddy's day.Fast forward a few minutes,we were behind a church getting stoned,just as we were finishing a "bomber"(that's what us old Fucks called a joint back then lol)when my buddy looked over at me I let out a fucking belly growl,along with a mouthfull of the green shake.
I think his mom hated me more than him,she did the laundry!
So the Exorcist holds a special place on my list.

im not much into the "classics" i want a more "this coulda happpened somewhere at some time" stories cept of course the campy flicks

for my money , evil dead 2 is the finest scary movie ever made. perfect balance of fear and tongue in cheek humor and of course BRUCE FUCKING CAMPBELL, FTW!

Ash vs Evil Dead is on Starz. I haven't personally seen it but it seems to have good reviews.

I hear Eden Lake is a good movie. I've seen Preservation which had a very similar plot but it wasn't all that great.
