Clones not rooting in aero cloner. Water temps too low?

well as you know or seen in my videos, i grow in a basement that is still cold but will be warmer in a few weeks when spring gets here.

I built an aero cloner with a dome to combat the weather which is doing great at keeping the tops of the plants warm, but it appears that while the clones look as healthy as the day they were cut, they have ZERO root devlopment

Water is basically PHd tap water i used all spring summer and autum with no issues in a regualr dwc system for cloning.

I just ordered a 50w heater (my aero rez is about 10 gallons when at the right level 8.00 off ebay!) and see if it helps

and also ordered a timer that i will set for 15 min on and 30-45 min off (only has 20 spots per day, womp womp)

any other ideas i should consider? clones have been cut for about a week now.

It's definitely the temp 70-75 is ideal. What temps are you running now without the heater?

I have used an ez cloner and Rapid Rooters and I find that RR's are better. No pump, manifold and reservoir to keep clean. Rapid Rooters make for ez transplanting and I also like how the RR holds the cloning gel.

EZCloners are the shit!!! I wouldnt clone without one.
Rapid Rooter plugs take 3 weeks longer for the clone to establish itself and grow with vigor, than the EZCloner ones.
6 years experience.

I take it back but you are incorrect. 100% wrong. The EZ cloner worked fine. Exact same rooting speed in the end. All the rapid rooters and aeros are growing exactly the same. 10 years experience, currently handling over 1000 clones with now over 75 varieties...if you like having dick measuring contests.

Don't spread false information if you don't know how to setup a rooting medium/environment correctly. There's a reason why almost everyone who has done aero switches to rr's. They're easier to handle and aero cloners take too long to setup. My boss always used one so I keep it in the mix to make him happy. Despite my best efforts to setup an efficient cleaning process it's still retardly time consuming in comparison. Since I get paid by the hour, the boss doesn't mind that I choose the more efficient route, RR's. Dude I'd get fired if it took any of my varieties 3 weeks to establish. Best I've done is 5 days. Don't hate on RR's just because you don't understand how to use them.

I find bubblecloners to be utterly superior regardless of what medium the clones are going into, however I have had significant temp issues during winter time, and came to find out that bubble cloners prefer temps of 75+. temps are critical in the cloner, just like in actual hydro, however you must be careful not to let the temps get too cold..

more .02 on the pile..

well the good news is now that i got a timer that goes on/off every half hour and got the temps up, the plants are starting to look like theyre going to root. white lil nubs poking out some of the cuttings and looking promising.

Thanks for the input

Temperature don't matter if you get sterile.

1. Buy NEW cloning collars (or get permaclone--they're heat sterilizable)
2. Bleach your system w/ 10 mL/gal bleach for hours with the old collars in place. Put your air pump on a timer so the bleach flows in and out of the air line/stones.
3. After a 2 - 3 hours, replace the water w/ tap and insert the new (or sterilized permaclone) collars.
4. Next add Clear Rez by EZ Clone (OR UC Roots by Current Culture). Let it circulate WITHOUT pH adjustment OR additives while you take your cuttings. This allows the Clear Rez or UC Roots to surface sterilize each cutting and the cloner one last time. This is a good time to expose you pH meter so it get's surface sterilize.
5. Finally, after a couple hours of circulating the Clear REz/UC roots solution, add bloom nutrients to approx 400 ppm.
6. Don't mess with the cloner. Treat it like an open wound.

Things to consider:
--taking cuttings from faster growing tissue on your mothers. Don't use those cutting that are real stiff due to lignification
--if your system is sterile, you can let your pump run continuously w/o worrying about temperatures. 78 - 88 *F is the goal!
--Bleach and pool shock are an alternative to Clear Rez or UC Roots, but require a little experience to work w/.
--peroxide IS NOT going to solve your problem.
--cut 1/4" below nodes

Follow this advice, you should be back in the game. If not, or if you need clarification, feel free to PM me.

So... I don't think they make Aquashield anymore. If they do, I cannot find it. The only thing anyone refers me to is Hydroguard by Botanicare. Also, not using an aerocloner (DIY Bubbler). First trial with clones EVER, and I had two Grape Ape, two Mojave Green Kush (self named from mentor, mystery seed) and one seedling Cold Creek Kush (Killed in Action... :( ) However, I had slimy stems on all of the clones, brown slime, but one of each has started to develop root nubs... After nine days, five of failure in rockwool, four of further failure in the bubble. Having the most god awful time finding a serious of concrete opinions on water temps and chemistry for what clones actually prefer. I'm a mind with Bennyweed1, and just allowing the plants to do their thing. I'll find my magic method that works for me soon with all of your help and my own researching habits without fail, I am certain.

Sorry I couldn't contribute much for you Haze, I'm just a lowly Padawan.
