Im after the help of some pro's. I've made a fair few qwiso runs, but Im not a great fan of the product.
I've just made what I consider the best extraction I've made using butane. I've only done it once before and I got a crappy little result. I'm a million miles away from the pros I see on here.
So, I've made 4.3g of BHO from 33g of rough dry sift material and I have absolutely no fancy materials or equipment and no access to any.
I used a plunge pot caffetiere, put my 33g in it followed by 2 cans butane (newport), left it 5 mins, sunk plunger and filtered thru coffee filter onto pyrex bowl in bain marie, evap'ed the butane, put in freezer overnight, followed with half hour in oven to get rid of bubbles (regular oven at bout 120 degrees) scraped up then put into freezer.
My question is, how can I improve it with no special equipment other than oven and freezer i.e basic heat and cold?
It already looks nice to me its like a beautiful piece of amber -I can do pics tomorrow when I get camera off mate, but I know a pro on here would never smoke it as it aint been done with shit hot lab style equipment. So please, how can I make it better, safer etc with just the basics?

dunno dude.
I make my BHO in a pyrex while doing bain marie at same time (following the basic ules fo safety, ie outdoor,no flame, no mobile, no wool sweate, hehehe) in order to keep the oil as less time as possible disolved into the butane.
Bet someone can add more.

If you have no vacuum purge, use a heat gun from the top, while it sits on 115f water bath. Make quick passes over the top with the heat gun (4-6 inches or so away), making sure the oil doesn't go above 125-130f., I use to only pass over the top for 15-20 seconds, then wait a few minutes with just heat from below. You'll notice larger bubbles pop, then smaller ones form. Don't pop the smaller ones yet, let them build with no heat from the top. As they get lager, make another run with a heat gun.
Repeat until bubbles stop forming. Will it get all butane out? Not likely. Will it get lots out, to where you can feel better about smoking/dabbing it? Yes.

so you dont do anything to purge it after the butane has evapped?
thanks - so thats the key then? a low heat until the bubbles have popped/disappeared?
I see people with their little ovens - could I not just stick it in the oven on a very low heat for a while? How long? 12 hours?

Most oven/toaster ovens minimum heat is 150-170f, while it can purge it, you will cook off terpenes/flavor, while starting to decarboxylate your product. If your oven will stay below 130f you're safe, but it's fairly low for an oven.
How long is adjusted by variables, determined by observation. You will see the rate of bubbles forming, popping, size, numbers of them etc... this will help determine when the butane is out.

thanks for your help man - in the end I added coconut oil and melted chocolate to make some little edibles and they are great, but Im gonna purge more for smoking next time.
A clean new toaster oven will help a great deal..

It held a steady temp of 120° with little fluctuation.
The trick is providing both top heat and bottom heat..

And don't stick her in the freezer. After you filter it into your pyrex, keep your pyrex on 115f hot water until the bubbles stop forming. Doing 15 second passes 4" from the oil will speed it up, just don't get her too hot!
You can store finished oil in fridge/freezer, but while purging cold will just make it take longer. Butane boils off at 0c but if the oil isn't viscous/warm, it can't escape the surface tension of the oil.

i was just going to ask.. how is anyone getting these huge yields per zip of nugs.. lol.. why are sooo many people getting under a quarter of oil per zip of nugs.. ?

You will get a gorgeous oleoresin or concrete in by doing a 30 minute Soak.
Dump and purge for purrrdy oil.
The remaining material still has some terps and cannabinoids left to pull , soak the rest with fresh solvent for 1 hour more to pick up what was left behind.

About the only way to pull that much oil from an oz, is......
* Amazing top notch material, with a damn near PREFECT technique.
* They have performed a thorough soak extraction.
Pulling 25% yields are plausible, but I imagine with numbers exceeding 25 ish % ... A lot of undesirables will be joining the party.

Some Terpenator Oil....
My brother's (spirit) Terpenator MK IIIa is officially been ” ran with just sugar leaves” to remove any leftover oil (s) contaminate(s)..
Then we ran 4 batches through...
We had an issue arise...
There is some particulate (plant matter) that snuck by the double wadded coffee filters on both sides, and.the screen provided with the kit.
is it advisable to add another SS filter with a smaller micron to catch this particulate?
Our 2nd issue... We could only jam around 100 g's in....
Capacity level should be 150 easy right?
I will do the packing next time, not too sure of the manner in which the column(s) were packed. But he is just as knowledgeable as myself..just kinda scratching the ole noggin on that one..
I think my version of ” packed tightly” is significantly tighter than my colleagues.
