big plant ppk

These 3 plants are all on PPK's but I had some humidity problems early on but the plant in the back is every bit of 4' wide and about 6' tall just massive this is at 5 weeks plus they are 3 different strains that I have never worked before grown in Coco, so to say turface is the best is just an opinion.

PPK ( Passive Plant Killer )

also D9 stated way way back that he has had good results with Turface mainly because he had a shit ton of it on hand to use, He has had great yields from Coco also, it is mainly what works for you. this system as a whole can run on various types of medium as long as each part is doing its part. I use Coco mainly cause Its not in my budget to have Turface shipped right now, and I have had great results none the less. My first set up I never changed the rez except to flush. For 1 month veg and just around 2 months of flower before flush not a single rez change just straight add backs. The only time I Ph'd the water was when I was filling the 5gal. add back bucket and never checked PPM's . I don't use Jacks though bur maxibloom is a 1 part as well with some adds but nothing major. If you have a basic idea of how a plant should grow and read it like a book, then this system is like set it and forget it for these people

:respect: Great looking ladies bro... Killing it...

So true about the different mediums working great in the PPK system.
Having used all sorts of CC/Perlite/Coco mixes myself and finding the the medium used is more about the container and desired feed style-Flood vs Pulse-Smart pot vs Air pot vs Hard sided wide mouth vs 3-5 gal bucket on bucket.... Each of these do better with a different medium, than all done with say Turface and pulse feeds...

It seemed to me the medium was one of the things that caused D9 to evolve the PPK into wide mouth pots vs Buckets...

If I recall he was trying to flood CC as fast as possible with a quick drainage rate and something to do with not needing the depth for roots with successful floods of CC type mediums...

For me...
CC-8822 with floods for hydro growth rates...
Coco/perlite-coco-perlite with pulse feeds for soil growth rates...

Bucket on bucket(with holes),smart pots & air pots with pulse feed for soil growth rates...

Hard sided bucket on bucket - wide pots with floods for Hydro growth rates...

Just my 2 cents...

"Dave the newbie" did great things with pure perlite and floods...
Had a couple bumps along the way yet,
Man was that an awesome root ball...lol

Yet... Dave's not here man!.... :shucks:

Has anyone tried soil PPKs of some kind, yet ?
Tea pulses or something..lol....

Absolutely right falt9,
D9 felt the 8822 was far more cost effective as well and worth the couple of runs you get from it. While reusable, Turface is still pretty costly
d9 was throwing 8822 out after each run, said it wasn't worth the time when it costs 5-7 a bag.

Yes he also said it was worth it to throw our after a couple of runs, nit sure if he's tried it, but i have and no issues to date. It does get soft after a while.

hotboxes,
I have taken my trellis off recently as these girls just wanna bush out into a wide hedge so there was no need for the trellis, but they are definitely at least 4ft wide but only 4ft-4.5ft tall, i like this strain.

With my floods I can definitely tell the 8822 breaks down quite quickly (right under the flood location the pebbles are a lot smaller). This could be remedied by drilling a bunch of 1/8" holes in vinyl tube and using a tee to make a circle around the feed dish's edge.... but I'm just too lazy to do it.

Again, 7 dollars a bag, I just buy a new bag and wash her out and she's good to go.

K - I've got a few tabs open from searches... so.. it's a growing method or system essentially? A passive hydro type like a hempy? Only with a different medium? Sorry guys the name seems odd. haha (because it contains 'plant killer'); I'm getting pesticide search results, haha.

Edit: Found some info I think, I'll read it later. Thanks.

Search the thread for my posts and for Delta9NXS's posts (he's the guru, but took his pics down, so I uploaded mine). Read.

If you're thru one week of flower, you probably got another 2+ of stretch. You may run out of room there Grow4Flow!

I'm not worried about that. Been there, done that. Been wall to wall with buds in this room and these are only about 4.5 ft tall, I have 9ft ceilings, got plenty of space

How did everyone install the refill float container? I know the hole size, and I do remember d9 saying that he installed at 11 in, but it seems to be refilling my reservoir too fast. The hole size was 5/64 right?

Was d9 keeping the container at the level of the water? Was the container always inputting water? Or only when flooding?

Will this ensure controlled water level throughout all growth stages?

Another problem encountered: chlorosis on developing leaves.

Reading the hydroponic book it states "nutritional disorders show on all plants at the same time, whereas many of the nonnutritional disorders would begin on a few plants and progress to neighboring"

This started on one plant, and is now progressing to other slowly, in a clockwise fashion.

Now I am diagnosing light bleaching, as only the closest branches to the hood (hot spots likely) were affected, and not the new development within the canopy. The affected areas are also crispy.

try removing the plant tub most affected and flush the others with fresh water only to clear out the media. i personally would do that for a couple days at least.

pull the light up a few inches as it sounds like you are burning them.

i filled the whole system to reach the desired level (water 3" below the bottom of the tub) then mounted float container to where the bottom is just sitting 3" below the water surface to keep the float valve closed

its a shame one of the ~PPK pioneers of today couldnt carry on d9s work and do a current PPK build thread with pics and all ive been researching for weeks finaly getting the hang of it i thing, hotboxes been a good help and grow4flow,

im in UK cant sorce turface, only thing i dont really get is the float valve bit, its in a container inside the pulse res i have no idea what thats for, i ran RDWC trees with auto top off and float valve but that looks alien to me

also i know all u yanks swear by jacks id be using canna coco a+b with PK 13/14 at week 5 only as its cheap and stable and the canna coco is very good coir fibrous and stable , bug free cos its to cold for anything to survive here lol

so id prob go 80/20 coco/clayballs, as for the rest that i dont get do i need to check EC and ph and keep it at same as i would in other hydro, i see people here check there res like never lol sounds dreamy
