I agree, Frank.

You certainly pose a valid point.

Thanks for continually keeping me grounded.

I'm simply gaining knowledge and practical experience on a scale provided to me now, and I'm certain I can grow provided the revenue, albeit small, to expand.

There is too much demand for locally sourced, small batch, connoisseur quality product where I personally reside, that I still see potential, I likely am naive, but I will learn my lesson.

Thanks again, Frank. Appreciate the constructive criticism.

I truly think if 99% of us want to have a chance at growing this plant professionally - in the future - we had better start getting advanced degrees in biology / genetics / horticulture / agriculture etc...

BINGO! That's why I'm gearing up for DE-TLC. I think it's the "little guys" best chance to keep the knowledge in our hands. The Big Boys want me and you to think gas chromatography is the only way to assay weed, in other words OWN a gas chromatograph or pay the big boys for the info.

With a bit (read buttload) of studying and a little investment it's (digitally enhanced thin layer chromatography) possible to get results accurate enough to do all of your determinations for breeding or anything else. At the end of the day you'll probably still have to pay for a gas chromatograph reading to get the gov approved sticker with data, but you'll only have to pay for the one you've already chosen as your keeper!

sorry :off2:

That's where I live too. Boutique weed is were I'm really hoping things are headed. The hill country here is like little, undeveloped, Napa valley. In other words, NOT Michigan.

I comare it to the alcohol industry, and the micro-brewery revolution; these individuals have grown exponentially, although not without respectable perserverence.

I'm ready to be kicked, slapped and pissed on. Hopefully I can contribute something of value that will influence someone; maybe I need to re evaluate my strategy...

Thanks again everyone; for now I'll play my part.

Really, don't get me wrong. It's not my intent to discourage anyone...or to rain on your parade.

But no one ever told the Rx world - this here beer is going to cure cancer... where as with cannabis, there is HUGE medicinal value.

I'd not be surprised to see cannabis become just like poppies...

If the scheduling changes, and Rx companies begin to work with the plant and begin to derive medicines based on it - you can be certain they are to build political walls around their investments to keep your next door neighbor from cutting into their profits...

All that having been said - you are correct - where there is a will, there is a way. I'm not one to tell another person where their limits are...

Soooo....get setup and start growing. I've never smoked speculation... ;)

These are the questions investors and executives will be asking.

Limits are absolute - as we currenty understand it - laws govern our lives, from physics to the constitution, whichever way you look at it. I wasn't blessed with a high IQ, I am not special in that regard, so I work on other controllable aspects of my person, especially my psyche (enlightenment, as Buddhists claim).

This is debatable, as are near any claims of absolutes, unless your a member of the sith.

There is a great quote in the Matrix, claiming that once Neo understood the parameters of his supposed reality, he the possessed absolute power. Something like that.

I apologize if this isn't completely coherent or relevant, it's hard to proofread on this damn phone.

with the setup you said you have the only market your gonna capitalize from is your neighborhood

And that's the game I'm trying to play.

There's no doubt I'm trying to capitalize on this opportunity... Such is the dynamic of our economy.

I am confident in my ability, and contrary to belief, I possess practical experience; if i didn't, I would still be confident my vast knowledge of the subject would allow me to succeed eventually, surely not without failures.

The consumer base is becoming more educated along with the growers, and their is an opportunity worth pursuing, where the benefits outweigh the potential risks. Plus, I am fortunate enough to have the capital required to invest in a grow operation which will already vastly distinguish me from the competition.

I am already implementing LED's for increased efficiency and marketability, while I'm also looking at the plasma's for future grows; all of these advanced controls being developed provide a novice grower the ability to develop something exceptional, it's in time that these inputs will be ideal...

Cannabis will become legal for recreational use, as is already witnessed in select states. That will be the market I specifically intend to target... The medicinal cannabis will be grown by professionals, doctors, and those with decades of experience. It will be tightly controlled, so I see it, and see it presently in Canada. I can't compete with this...

I ultimately desire to produce cannabis as my profession, and with my dedication, passion, and perseverance; I damn well believe it's possible.

But I'm still not quitting my day job, haha.

Understood, Black Magic.

But what I look to gain is knowledge and experience. Would a large legal, professional corporation be willing to hire me as a grower solely based upon the fact that I produced cannabis on a small scale? No

With a degree in business and an understanding of the concepts, including practical experience, I will be better positioned than many for a job within the office. I will be more capable of communicating with customers than the majority of competition.

Once I release my product, I'm certain individuals will take notice. It will allow me to network - developing partners and investors.

It is more than the yield, it is the reputation and recognition. This also proves to prospects that I am capable of long term commitments, possess a degree of technical ability and dedication.

Thanks for reviving the thread; this has been very beneficial.

So? Basically you are looking to work for Parrie Plant? Or some other big Corp?

Parrie Plant?

That is the direction of the industry, paladin. Look at Canada.

I hope to develop a boutique market within my local market, as I have mentioned before: consumers are demanding locally produced product, and very conscious of the degrading quality resulting from excessive expansion.

To do this will require extensive research, networking, expansion, marketing, and proactive action. To better appeal to the market I should focus producing via organic soil, but I have already determined my expertise.

While I was playing World Of Warcraft competitively (within my server) I specifically focused effort upon one class. Slowly, I started drifting away from my focus, and began playing other classes, at which point my ability diminished. The best player on the server, was a Warrior, who solely played that class, and never attempted to diversify his expertise.

This is applicable to all industry's. Our ability is limited.

Let me again reinforce why I am not producing medicine; the production of medicinal marijuana will be solely controlled within facilities that are absolutely controlled, sterilized and operated by professionals. A feat you will never achieve in your current facility.

The medicine that you produce now will not be effective as the products produced in these facilities. The fact that this medicine is produced by anyone who desires to do so, is quite concerning. Not who I want to purchase medicine from. Medicinal marijuana caregivers will be a concept of the past.

Maybe they will allow personal gardens, but you will be doing so for recreational purposes. No longer will patients be seeking medicine from you, guaranteed. Much better solutions will be developed. Patients will go through rigorous testing to determine which product will provide the chemicals (at what ratios, which will be developed, controlled, and likely patented) necessary for effective relief, and through better means it will be diagnosed (not smoking).

If your sole purpose is to provide medicine for patients, then you better change your strategy if you wish to maintain your operation. If you possess other skills and a true profession and can sustain the costs of producing cannabis, then it is a great hobby. But if you rely upon reimbursement from patients: change is necessary.

The current dispensaries are glorified street dealers. If they wish to remain relevant in the recreational market, they better be developing innovative strategies and remaining proactive.

So begin production of Sativas. There are many good motives for producing cannabis aside from medicinal reasons, and that needs to be recognized on these forums.

Can't agree tom. Microbreweries were needed to get the big boys to try making quality beer. The big boys will likely try to push the weed equivalent of miller light.

Not the pharmaceutical industry, Pinkus. All the largest corporations will invest significant funds to develop effective medicine. This is a different industry, with different motives.

You just did agree. That is what I'm saying about the recreational market. This is the reason that I'm investing time into the marijuana industry, but not the medicinal focus.

lol well I AM medicated. Honestly, much of the Phama focus is wrongheaded as they are trying to isolate individual components instead of playing to the key strength of the plant; the synergistic effect of the combination of cannabinoids.

Well Tom some of us refuse to accept the Canada model as the one for us.

Some of us are tired of the losers in the war on drugs (us) writing the rules.

World of Warcraft? Never played but I am a warrior so I'll ask a question.
What happens when warriors from each class join forces for a common cause?
Good luck
Pal

Regardless of the implemented model, my point remains valid. You will not be producing medicine of the same quality that the corporations with large capital and exceptional talent will be.

Well, unless you have serious connections, significant capital, can amass a significant following, etc... it will be difficult, but certainly possible.

I dunno,, I've seen alot of people with excellent talent, go big, and no matter what , they're small home grows always come out 50 times better..
