Public Former MMAR RANT THREAD

Interesting how corporate and gov collusion was responsible for the implementation and all associated travesties of prohibition, and now with the forced regulation and legalization of cannabis we see the powers that be do what they can to control and profit from it even if it means stepping on the necks of the sickest and poorest to do so. Prohibition persists because its in the best interest to those in power, big corp and big gov. The legalization or decreased medical regulations of cannabis would cause them to lose portions of their power and profit structures. The forced legalization has them doing what they can to contain it.
Its a plant, its very cheap to produce quality assured product, the regulations are made for herbal medicines of which were made for plants produced OUTSIDE. Making anyone pay several hundred or several thousand dollars per month for their medication is not defensible. The restrictions on patients cultivating their own plants themselves is also indefensible.
Why dont these LP's have the patients interests in mind and if they do why does it not show at all?

but my question too you is..WHAT did the sick do before the MMAR program?
They had to pay for their meds via the blaack market..correct..

That's efin golden considering the program is gone because of the same people who set up some of the LP companies. Some of them or probably 1/2 of them were the ones running their shows for profit.
You can't make that assumption as you have no idea what they will do.

I know a medical patient, a real sick dude, that was arrested at gun point by police jumping out of bushes. All for a small medical grow. They found a few too many clones but it was a small medical grow people. He was released, but the fact remains they don't care if your sick. They don't have a conscience, they are dogs on leashes, they heal at command, they attack at command.
Police......DO NOT TRUST THEM.

People jump down your throat because everytime some one get hopes you contuinue to tell them " its over ".. people don't like your sky is falling approach . I don't think your on our side . I could tell you had a stake in this the whole time .

ok, I'll bite... I'm pissed about loosing my licence. I'm also pissed about HC demanding I destroy my legally grown medicine that I paid to produce. I'm even more pissed that I have to sign a document stating I destroyed it and waiving my right to privacy that was guaranteed to be protected under the mmar. I cannot take any other meds for my disease as I have liver damage and cannot swallow pills well due to dysphagia. Can't afford lp's because disability pays crap. This new system serves no one that is sick. If health Canada did there job and inspected grows they would have had no excuse to remove licences. Instead they let the abuse reach a tipping point then shut down the program. This is like banning cars because a few people drive drunk. Also tired of hearing them talk about mold, fire, and toxic chemicals every time they mention pot. I am sure you will jump in in your usual fashion and defend licensed producers and give sick people the old neener neener...... sick of that too

This isn't supposed to be an attack, but I don't find your positions well reasoned or rational.
You talk about how us growers screwed the program up somehow. Did you ever stop to think maybe it was prohibition screwing it up for everyone (well, except of course the cops and criminal justice system, and of course all the big industries that this plant could compete with - which is pretty much all of them)....
No, instead you rant about the evil greedy growers, a large % of whom are fairly normal Canadians that contribute greatly to society and probably couldn't find a decent playing job otherwise (as the inflationary monetary system drains all of our wealth into the hands of a very small % of people).

I read a really great comparison on this site I believe. It was about the way licenses are just eliminated and the MMAR program repealed, because there were a few people taking advantage of the program.
It went kind of like this..."I don't understand why the MMAR was repealed, and not changed when it was suspected that the MMAR program was being abused. Lots of drivers abuse there drivers license with drinking and driving, speeding, hit and runs, etc., etc., and the government doesn't revoke all the DL's in the country. They simply go after the drivers that are abusing there licenses, why didn't they do the same with the MMAR".
This kind of made me think, besides has it ever been proven that anyone actually abused a MMAR license...I know lots of talk has happened on the subject, but has it been proven in a court or by some kind of study. I'd like to know where the government got its information. INFORMATION...Solid enough to shut a program that has been running for more than a decade and has over 40,000 members.
I would love to see the data on this alleged abuse.

You won't see the data because it doesn't exist. What little "evidence" they do have is anecdotal at best. The RCMP's own numbers from 2009 even say they only investigated 40 cases of MMAR abuse. 40 cases out of 40,000 patients = 0.001%, granted there was probably only 10-15000 people in the program at that time so 0.003-0.004% were abusing the system. Far less than they would have you believe. I don't see the number of those abusing the system in the past 5 years skyrocketing to several hundred or thousands of cases. The way they talk you'd think 1 in every 10 people is abusing the system, when it's more likely 1 in every 1000. With any government program there are going to be people that take advantage whether it's welfare, disability etc, they don't completely revamp those systems while taking away people's rights.
