Strains that smell like roses?

Are there any rose-scented strains? I never hear of that as a scent people ascribe to cannabis.

Never tried it, but look into Vitality (red Flo, red Kali Mist) by Mr. Alkaline, Elevator Man, SaH. In the DJ Short forum. Has been described as having a floral rose type smell.
Also rose flo?

Roses smell totally different to any strains in my humble experience. The floral smell you get sometimes is much sweeter and... just different.

Thanks for the responses. So here is where we get into the question of, does "floral smelling" mean the same thing as smelling like a rose? Roses are a very specific aroma, and in a lot of the descriptions for Flo, and the Black Rose one mentioned above, they just use words like floral instead of actual roses.

So I'm still curious to hear from more of you, if you have grown rose-smelling cannabis before. I have to admit, of all the breeders that came to mind before posting this thread, DJ short seemed to be the one that would have tried breeding for this. But my understanding of Flo is that it just smells floral, which could mean smelling like honeysuckle or lilies, and not necessarily roses.

But then, after posting this thread, I encountered references about some strain that DJ made which was never released to the public, called rosebud or something similar like that. Does anyone know anything about this one? Or is it just a pheno that's been worked from the Flo line?

I have decided, for whatever reason, that I really want rose-smelling weed. I am now determined to find some. As cliche as it is, I find the smell of roses to be one of the most beautiful smells ever.

That will be difficult because the real rose aroma comes from rose oxide and several damascenone and ionone derivatives.
Nerol and geraniol are quite abundant monoterpenes reminding of rose scent (rather cheap rose surrogate) but I could not find any publication mentioning these in cannabis...
That said, cannabis essential oil contains terpenes with a 'floral' smell but none with a rose scent (according to pubmed.com).
I don't want to destroy your hope but your chances are low ;( .
Good luck anyway because with scents and aromas nothing is impossible! Besides, tokers from Middle East and Northern Africa surely would love such weed :D .

Drats! Not chemically likely. Too bad. I'll keep my nostrils flared for that scent for you. A rose strain would be a hit in those hashish loving rose water using cultures. Surely with all of the competent largescale selections carried out in those areas it would have been popularized.

The closest I have is mixed floral, like a coat check room at a
fancy hotel.

Or the fancy little soaps your aunt or grandma might have
out for guests.

Roses, not yet.

My F-13 gals definitely had rose overtones. I know floral, and it was decidedly a rose scent.
Not a rose bred for it's odor, more an all-summer bloomer, faint but pronounced none-the-less.

There is definitely a strain that smells and tastes like straight roses & potpourri. Ridiculously disgusting. Super dank and rare but tastes like you are inhaling perfume or potpourri if you can imagine it. I got it a few years back before the MMJ boom, haven't seen it since.

Aroma in roses varies enormously, anyway. One of ours, Hansa, smells like cloves & spice, another like anise, others with more traditional "rose" scents.

The chances are probably better of breeding roses that smell like cannabis than vice-versa.
