Do No Harm Clinic Kelowna

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to talk to medical marijuana users in the Kelowna area...(or anywhere in the southern interior of BC for that matter) for a series we are doing on CBC radio. I'm interested in finding out how the new regulations the feds are putting in may effect you. Right now there are 1000 growers in Kelowna, but they will not be licensed once the new rules come into effect. So I'm wondering what this will mean for users? Will people have to go underground to get their medicine? Anyways, if you are interested in getting in on the discussion, or sharing your thoughts, please contact me at 250-869-5071 or email brady DOT strachan AT cbc DOT ca. Thanks

I suggest you talk to the Coalition and the Lawyer John Conroy.

They would be willing to go on record, maybe the air, to discuss Harm and Effect of the new MMPR program. You may also what to include a report on how all Medical MJ users in the government program the MMAR were maliciously outed, with a deliberate move by Health Canada and how it effected there ability to continue caring for themselves with medical MJ. A breach privacy law suit has been launched against Health Canada.

Yvonne at the DNC clinic has been very helpful. I talked to her for years before I could finally get to see a neurologist as a last line of defense for my migraines.

Although the neurologist was a cool guy and said he could probably sign for my MMAR, I still went with the DNH clinic. It could have taken another 6 months just to get in with the neurologist again, but Yvonne had helped me all the way through and I happily paid the $400. I was better off financially at the time but also extremely appreciative.

This year I became dead broke due to unexpected financial hardships and she was very understanding. I heard that there was leniency to those with financial hardships and when I sent my renewal papers she emailed back with a confirmation the next day.

Health Canada sent my papers back as I moved and needed new picture ID, so I nervously sent Yvonne the updated details and hoped she wouldn't ask for a payment this time. She and I discussed my financial situation and she never asked for a payment again. I outright asked if she was going to request one and she said she understood the situation I was in and that it was not required. I felt so happy.

Yes, their clinic does request a $400 charge but I think it's worth it. I did try seeing many doctors and it was very difficult for me. No one takes me seriously as I'm a young, athletic and otherwise very healthy male who has migraines and it's typically seen as a "women's affliction". Most people recommend I get a better night's sleep or have a glass of fucking water. She actually took me seriously. And she provided a lot of personal and psychological assurance. I wanted to give up so many times but she encouraged me. And Dr. Kanerva was very reassuring as well. I thought he might be some sort of money grubber but he has a genuine passion for marijuana and I really appreciated my correspondence with him.

Yeah, I'm normally not someone who'll fork over $400 so easily but the return on my investment has been invaluable. Those two helped me so before everyone wants to focus strictly on the money, take a moment to consider everything. It's a viable option, albeit a bit more expensive than most. If a doctor would have signed without hassle I would have easily went that route, but things worked out with the DNC so I'm happy.

Heh, thanks, man. I haven't used mushrooms since high school because the trip I had on my last day of school changed my life forever. It was a positive and glowing experience that took place almost exactly 10 years to this day.

I've never used them for the purpose of treating migraines, but because I can't grow and my DG won't grow anymore either I don't have access to the proper strains that help my migraines. A friend has ordered spores and I'm going to help him grow some mushrooms as he's grown extremely interested in mycology.

I'll keep a low dose with me at all times and will start a migraine journal again. I take triptans which work incredibly well, but I am a bit fearful and try to use them as sparingly as possible. Another medication to add to the arsenal will be greatly appreciated. I've heard good things, just never had the opportunity or time to try another route. It's crazy how almost exactly 10 years to the day I'll be taking mushrooms again, albeit at a much lower dose and for medical purposes. I don't have the time to commit to tripping and fully utilizing the experience for recreational and spiritual purposes. :)

I'm going to try to not blow up on you, but do you know how insulting this comment is? Would you lecture someone with cancer about their diet and lifestyle choices? It may not be the best comparison, but that's how offensive I find it. People with chronic migraines will go to any length to alleviate this pain, I assure you.

I have chronic migraines and have contemplated suicide because they are so aggressive. I can assure you that my hydration levels have crossed my mind once or twice. I've tried virtually every possible medical intervention and like marijuana because I can bake with it and even a low dose can keep them at bay. Was going to try juicing full plants for the myriad of health benefits that has, but then the MMAR amendments came out and my DG stopped growing. I would have loved to explore that option. Would have been a great way to hydrate and get my greens in... thanks, Harper Government.

Mush are easy to grow....Pressure cooker (get a big one)...some mason jars, tyvek, and then just pick a tek.

BRF is good for doing cakes...just remember to case them.
WBS is great for spawning

I used to use a karo water solution and hot shot my jars by cloning existing tissue once I found a winner..

Dead simple....if you keep it clean...worst case build a glove box, or a flow hood/workspace..

Just make sure you use WIDE MOUTH JARS...or mylar bags...colonized spawn can be hard to get out of the narrow mouth kind.

I used to make BRF cakes...transfer to a new ziplock and bust the myc up...then transfer that to a tray of h-shit mix...also...paint or cover the bottom of the tray, else them boomers gonna grow out the bottom as well as sides and top...hth

If your migraine never goes away then why would others listen to your remedies? Maybe you need to change your diet and lifestyle???
Switch up that tap water for some Brawndo to get those electrolytes....

Have you tried drinking water? Hydration is important, you know. ;)

INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN any event... these mushroom posts sure bring me back. I loved how places like the Shroomery had such a good vibe. Many gracious people sent spore prints so I quickly realized how rewarding, quick and fun it was to grow mushrooms. When a friend asked for my help I jumped all over it. It's easy, but I also don't want him screwing it up and growing a bunch of poisonous mold. I remember a really nice cat on the Shroomery got mycosis and it sounded TERRIBLE.

Buddy says that his spores are coming in soon and that he's got a pressure cooker. I'll make sure his checklist is correct before he goes shopping. I remember making cool little terrariums and growing shrooms in everything. It was so amazing to see mycelium, then pins, then huge fruiting bodies growing so quickly you could almost watch it. I gave him a Raspberry Pi and a camera that I'm not using and we're probably going to make a little timelapse lol

I hope these help with migraines. I've only got a little bit of bud left from my grower. Would have loved to get him setup with some high CBD/CBN strains but we never had the luxury. I've still got a garage full of virtually unused equipment from my personal grow from years ago. So sad to see this program go away.

Rubbermaid bins worked great for me...indoors...pretty simple and lowtek

I had a good mentor tho...cleanliness was key for me....

I even had some pretty good success using the microwave to sterilize those yogurt sized Ziploc containers full of brf and verm...

Never did master using woodstove pellets, milk powder and peroxide tek....wasted tonnes of time and effort on that epic failure...

OUTDOOR was killer tho....super easy to make a bed(in perpetual shade..between fence and outbuildings works great), use old cakes broken up for spawn (break off any contamination, and dip in peroxide first) and let mother nature do the rest....was like magic how you could soak down a bed(at night with ice cold water)...and come back to shrooms in a few days....sometimes a few..sometimes a bedfull...depended on how well the bed colonized....and talk about multiple flushes....toss on some coir mixed with compost after picking...wet and cover.....and voila...freshened bed..lol

the key was getting the bed established with sufficient spawn...better a smaller bed..than a large bed that fails..oh and bed design.....

My fav way to ingest was always oj or grapefruit juice..blended with my shroom....usually less than a gram dried...mostly 1/2g doses...enough to make the knees like rubber and give me light visuals....blending seemed to make it hit harder(acidic solution helps) and using less made it easier on the belly..

Last time I grew/ate I had 3.5g and had a very disturbing introspective look at myself....smoking in the mirror tripped me out...nothing I want to experience again...

Wow..How can you tell I just medicated....I sure do ramble like a mofo.

@blastfrompast that really makes me want to grind up some mushrooms and slam some tea!

I've just had too many ups and downs in my life to be able to make the time to take mushrooms. I always made sure to clear my mental plate before diving into a trip and I always had good ones. I had my first "bad" one on the last day of high school but it subsequently switched around, making it ironically the best trip as well. The contrast between light and dark taught me so much about myself and the world that I didn't "need" to trip again. But I'd still like to feel that enlightenment and explore my consciousness again for a bit of a tune up.

I thankfully don't have any drama or major stressors that'd trigger a bad trip. And I have a good family and support network if I did accidentally ingest more than I meant to. That last trip I did was only a couple grams on a full stomach. But they were some potent ass mushrooms that sent me on a trip to another plane of existence so I'm a little more apprehensive. I have meds to abort a bad trip and a safe environment, so once we get these guys going then I'll be in a good position to try them out. First, for recreational purposes only. But if I accidentally ingest too much I'll ride it out and see what happens lol

Never considered zoomers as medicine for myself, but I have heard they can help with cluster headaches and migraines before. I tried them a few times in my college days, first couple hours were fun but then they would just start to make me nauseous. Not really my thing I guess.

I would yawn a lot and get a bit of a rumbly stomach, but never got full blown nausea. I usually opted for the tea. Faster onset and if I had a puff or two, it would really amplify things and would mitigate nausea.

I'm getting a little anxious for those spores to arrive. Mushrooms will be way cheaper than triptans. They're like $15-$20 per pill!

You can still use woodstove pellets...Just need to get the nute level right....the myc eats the nutes..not the wood in this case...all it does is provide structure for the mycelium..

Mebbe it was my PH....I saw it done a few times...much like using BRF in Verm....
