Colloidal Silver @ 50 PPM, 2 weeks into Flowering - Time to See Fem-Balls ?

I have a favorite female clone that I am taking a shot at FEM'ing & making S1's of.

I got a pint of 240 PPM Silver Mountain Minerals Colloidal Silver, off of Amazon -

http://www.amazon.com/Colloidal-Silver-Ultra-240-ppm/dp/B0036RM6E2

... Diluted it at 4 parts water, 1 part Colloidal Silver, to get it down to about 50 (or 48) PPM.

Followed the instructions ... "Check, check, check and check" (I think) ... sprayed the test plant every day thoroughly 1 week during it's last week of veg., then every day for another week for the first week of 12/12.

OK, it's now another week (2 weeks into 12-12, stopped the Colloidal Silver spraying a week ago), and the plant is looking like any old girl in flowering. You know, more pistils every day. Looking healthy, growing, etc. etc.

But - no testicular matter. No pollen sacs.

2 weeks in ?

When do CS prepared females normally start showing their trans-sexual Male wares ?

I have a Regular male on back-up, and considering the time factor and the 'production schedule' decided to put him into 12/12 today.

First time I ever hoped for nanners on a female plant.

I spray 2 weeks veg and in flo till they show.
if you bought that off the net it might be old.

Rule of Thumb
If you know what sign to look for, colloidal silver will tell you when it’s beginning to lose potency.

The general rule of thumb is to watch for precipitation of silver particles in your storage container.

“Precipitation” means the silver particles are beginning to fall out of suspension in the solution. The resulting residue will begin to visibly coat the sides or bottom of your storage container. That is the sure sign that your batch of homemade colloidal silver (or even store bought colloidal silver, for that matter) is beginning to lose its potency.

All you have to do is examine your storage container to see whether or not a light silver-gray residue is beginning to form on the sides or bottom of the container.

plus, I think 50 ppm is waaaay low.

2 weeks into flowering and most males are beginning to let loose.

4 weeks later and you're 6 weeks in, time to begin to wrap things up for many strains.

So I thought ... 2 weeks and no pollen organs on my trans-verse ladies ?

Might be time to bring my back-up male off the bench.

i read that you should not stop spraying till you see some results
it also might be that you diluted it too strong,
also depends a lot on how the CS was produced..

if it was produced the cheap way with a mill
chances are that it does not have any power for your needs
but for medical still good enough.

the good stuff is produced through electrolysis
thats why people tend to make it themselves.

i dont know anyhting about your quality
but i would just keep spraying till you see something..

good luck

I appreciate all the suggestions ! :tiphat:

Right now, I have stopped the (supposedly) Colloidal Silver for 8 days. I would be picking it up and re-spraying the test plant.

In the mean-time, I have the back-up Apollo male. I think I will leave him in 12/12.

Obviously Fem'ing plants, to produce S1's, is a very good technique to learn. I won't give up !

50 ppm would be enough
minimum would be around 30 ppm
you can thin it down with water

spray every day in the first 2-3 weeks of flowering
till you see balls forming.

Everytime i spray with CS it puts a rust looking film on the leaves and sometimes they curl up a bit?

I don't know if it is because i don't filter it well enough?

bump....any luck yet?

I was going to order a different brand of colloidal silver, hopefully based on recommendations.

I gave up on the test plant and hit her with some normal Apollo 11 pollen.

I have to remind myself not to smoke the bud part of the seeded bud.

Here are some tips from my experience.
1) Don't make colloidal silver. It takes a certain amount and type of agitation and is very hard to achieve a concentration above 30 ppm without the silver ions precipitating.
2) You don't need a concentration above 50 ppm to reverse sex. I used 34ppm cs and sprayed it for about a month. I gave up because I saw no result. Checked on it two week later and it's now filled with forming pollen sacs. Just keep spraying, it will work.
3) The plants leaves will change color and start to die. This is normal just keep spraying.

I don't understand why you suggest not to make it if you also say that it works?

I have made it before and it does leave the rusty film on the leaves but it also still works.

so what is the recommended brand.....??????

I'm going to try the Tiresias Mist first, only thing is that I haven't even ordered it yet, and I have nothing to use it on right now. It will probably be 60-90 days or longer before I give it a review. I'm subscribed to this thread, I'll tune in often to read other opinions.

The best price found on search was at EBay.

No it works it's just more work than its worth IMO. I used a bubbler to agitate it and maxed out at about 34 ppm.

I just put the silver, connected to the battery in a 1 litre bottle of water and leave it for 24-48 hours.

It makes the plants look sick but it still made pollen.

I did the same thing and couldn't get it above 20 ppm. Did you check the strength or just spray it on? If you have to buy the wire then why not just buy colloidal silver and cut out the extra work and hassle? At least that my thinking.
