I, myself prefer moist inputs.:)

Yeah but you're not trying to measure and ship molasses either. It's a pain in the ass and then I've had the post office break the box which turns into a huge fiasco. Pretty much everyone is pissed off at you then, from the customer to the post office.

Not quite what I meant. e.g. moist compost. Dry is close to useless.

The "compost brewer", "AACT Brewer" by whatever is the technical name. Does make an excellent TEA. I have read a lot of the "Tea Articles" and many more. But the only thing that gets me wondering. The size of the bubbles in a brewer? Conflicting information on how bubbles cause questionable damage to microlife contained in a tea. Large bubbles vs. small bubbles. Fungal Hyphae damage?
with the brewer from "Eureka Springs Organics" i get tons of AIR from the ECO Plus commercial air1 in the form of large bubbles. Not that i worry too much about it. I did add 4-4inch air stones around the bottom of my bucket (5 gal) for extra (small bubbles). After the last batch of tea was done w/o the 4 extra stones. The pump was shut off and i swear the water was actually moving without agitation and i hadnt smoked anything. So any comments on the Large bubbles vs. Small bubbles are encouraged?

Small bubbles allow for more gas exchange. Air stones can be a pain in the ass though and you may not need them.
Not sure why the water would move on it's own unless it's fermenting. May just be the Zen factor.
Why would I want to measure and ship molasses? Or rather, why would I compromise on an ingredient just so I can have it measured and shipped to me? I can think of few reasons.

That is a question for microbeman. I have not specifically tested bubble size. I have only tested different brewer designs with no attention being paid to bubble size.

My final design does produce a "high quality" compost tea when viewd under the scope. That is the important part. :)

Couldn't connect with Microbe Organics. MM says that small bubbles dissolve O2 better than large bubbles. If you can get on his site, search for diffuser. He mentions a brand of diffusers, and here's another http://www.amazon.com/Deep-Water-Mi...=1393947754&sr=8-1&keywords=boss+hog+diffuser -granger

That very well could be, but those things are built to break. Diffusers, air stones etc. are not the answer unless you want to buy them constantly.

Direct injection into the compost via a rigid stainless pipe is hard to beat, and never breaks or needs replacing.

That's why I chose that design. That, and it produces awesome tea. :)

I am sorry that my webserver is still down so I cannot refer to my material there. The conjecture that small bubbles break apart hyphae is not valid per lots of experimenting I have done. One would need to inject high velocity air to break apart hyphae. e.g. a shop air compressor through a nozzle.

There is a little advanced dissolved oxygen efficiency with small bubbles, according to research I have previously posted. No matter what one uses, be it a pipe with holes or slots or an airstone, it is still a 'diffuser'. I have opted to use machine slotted pipe (254 um) as it can be cleaned.

Hi Microbeman,

Hope you are doing well. I have a question if you don't mind.
Can you tell me something more about the slotted pipe you favor,
is this pipe available to the retail market, or is it special order?

An option to circumvent stone diffusers would be welcome.

Thanks!

Thanks MM! i have read everything on your site, almost all posts here sir. I have a hydrated tub of coco (cocogro brand) with a solid white mass growing over the coco. I see this is a GOOD thing. I wonder what type fungus? is creating this? Will just fold it back into the media. pretty sure its a benefit and not negative any comments?

I have it slotted at a PVC machine shop.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Are the slots cut in line or across pipe?

I've got an idea custom cuts like that are somewhat costly.

Across. For homemade use the finest blade you can find. There is info on my webpage. (now up again)

It is expensive. Many people do not realize the extra expense and care we put into our 'brewers'. glass epoxy to smooth corners; brass fittings rather than plastic, etc.

Any questions about our products can be posted in this thread.

Hey ESO!

If pasteurized and prepped accordingly, do you think your cow manure and mushroom compost would be suitable for indoor cultivation of medicinal/edible fungi?

I grow Portabella and other dung loving edibles for the most part, so I think I might just give it a try.

I have friends who grow/grew mushrooms, but honestly I don't know enough about the process to suggest a product.

I have always wanted to grow my own mushrooms, burpt never had the time because of my gardens.

Fair enough.
I'm confident it will work.
I placed an order for this yesterday, and I just replied to the "sales" email address requesting to add the starter plugs to the order.
Hopefully it hasn't been processed already.
If not, I'll get them on the next order.

Have a great day!
