I grew WW some years back and it was a big favorite of many smokers. The problems is the WW hybrids out there is not the real strain. It should be 60% Sativa and 40% indica. Brazil/Indian..
A lot of growers make a big mistake and harvest too early. Believe me if you let this strain flower for 10 weeks or a little longer you will see more weight put on around week 9-10 and also more crystals. Harvesting this strain too early you will loose yield and potency. IMO

The nugs I got are rock hard and really frosty. Effect is similar to WR but smoother, more enjoyable.

If we are reasonable, I'm pretty sure that a good selection of White Widow has nothing to envy to the modern hype trendy cuts or any other commercial strain. Problem nowadays will be finding legit seeds to select a few good representative females or even legit oldschool cuts.

In the other hand, I'm not sure where it could be the best option to start with: Nirvana (pre2000 parents)? Mr Nice (Shantibaba version)? De Sjaaman seeds (Ingemar version)?

Let's face it, if WW would happen to be an american-bred strain, it would have been bred and selected throughly and nowadays it would probably be as classic as OG Kush, Bubblegum, ChemD and all that stuff. But the truth is that you can't really find the real deal no more... shit got lost in the 90s when the new trends came in, just like most Sensi Star, Ak47, Kali Mist and all the rest of the Euro Allstars lol.

And by the way, was the WW ever a nice "sativa"? I bet it really is a skunk or afghan cross or something like that. It's sounds impossible that a real South Indian crossed with another tropical Brazilian sativa (Manga Rosa?) would ever finish in 8-9 weeks (maybe 12-14 will be more reasonable after intensive breeding work?) and have that compact structure and characteristics, right? Sounds as crazy as an 8 weeker Haze!

Vibes all.

Greenhouse White Widow and Grimm White Widow (I believe Bros. Grimm used Greenhouse in developing their version) was one of the best varieties/ strains EVER.

But - not a high-yielding strain - for me.

So commercially there are obviously other strains with comparable resin and much higher yield, less time investment for manicuring, etc.

I was driven by a vision to grow the famous plant over time I left several versions from the seed bank and repeatedly returned to the Black Widow 5 total package, but I always ended up at an average of ganja who could not stay in my matkárně unfortunately.
I agree with that Ignemar the original discoverer but I do not want to speculate.
Peace.

I think white widow is a nice strain a bit overrated this days where kush and indicas are more hyped, you only have to find your crop and little selection, this year I smoked auto widow from dinafem and yes its a nice smoke, very tasty and powerful I love to try some Black Widow.
I would love to cross WW with something like Panama or Mextiza to add more substance and complex to the mix.

Mr Nice Black Widow was renamed as such because Scott wanted to distinguish it from the rest. He claims to be making BW from the original parents.

All others are F2 at best & this includes Greenhouse seeds since the split.

There's plenty of information on these Widows... It just takes a little digging.

The Black Widow I harvested last fall tastes and smells like gardenias w hints of citrus. Yields left something to be desired but she was in a rather small container out side. Potency could use a bit of a lift as well... alas... this was the second time I've run widow and I.plan.on running her in the future as well.

Also, as mentioned... Scott, the original breeder, says to keep your eyes peeled for nice males.

I love Dutch Passions version of White Widow. I've seen many a post comparing it to Nirvana's WW.

I've never grown out Nirvana's version, but DP's version has been a staple in my small medical grow for over a decade. F3's are pretty much like F1s. A little floral. I understand they crossed it with a skunk. Dream weed. Strong and sassy.

A 600 HPS can grow a lot of smoke in a basement grow. You alternate grows. After a couple years of vacuming and freezing surplus I'm blessed to always have some WW along with Rez's SD V3's and his CD, Super Silver Haze, Sensi Star and Sour Bubble in the freezer.

These are the strains I always keep around. They have something special that has lasted the test of time. A few others too. A bunch of strains in the freezer waiting their turn again.

I smoke a little of this and bong of that. Dutch Passions' WW cross is always a favorite. One I make sure to keep on hand.

A picture of my Grimm White Widow, taken with my old Nikon.

It was very medicinal. Almost nothing better. Not a big yielder. Rewards patience with resin.

That was taken about 2001.

I wanted to learn how to post pics ! :tiphat:

G`day MF

Black Widow has an interesting breeding .
Brazilian x South Indian . Then an F1 Male used to back cross . Next gen [f2] a female back crossed to the original parent . So its not a regular F1 as we might think .
That accounts for several generations of breeding .Does that help explain the flower times for you ?

Thanks for sharin

EB .
