Bubba Kush S1s: Info and grow-along

I didnt take the pictures myself, so alot of them wheren very good (most of them had a thumb in them
) but I picked the best ones
the plants smell amazing, taste amazing, looks amazing and the buds are rock hard but the yield is very very low even when grown big before flowering, but I did keep the 3 best, 2 greens and 1 purple, my only issue with Bubba is the effect, its soooo stony, after smoking a joint I can hardly breathe cause my lungs feels so heavy, and my heart is beating very slow, so I will try and harvest them a bit earlier next time and hopefully get a more pleasent effect

they are some realy easy plants to grow, and can take some abuse, and if someone is looking a for a realy stony indica this is it.
I was thinking of crossing my purple PCK mother to the purple bubba#11, both for the colour and to maybe make the effect a bit less narchotic

Finally got some pre-98 s1 in a jar for a minute and gotta say wow this is some of the finest herbs I've had the pleasure of growing. Never had bubba til now and I can see why it's been so respected for so long. Eyelid-flapping refrigerator-emptying mind-numbing funky sweet deliciousness is how I would describe it.

Really good stuff VG - I've been smoking alot of #4, very kushy taste mixed with rich incense and hint of earthy bubba flavor. The high isn't to in your face (good imo), only some waves of stupid. Very oily resin.
The wife says "tastes like California", I agree.
Tastes like it smells and its one of those fine smokes that tastes good or better all the way though the joint.
None of the rest of them really developed that strong of an aroma or taste. They do posses famous knock you on your ass effect. #3 is getting run again since i don't feel like she finished properly, and #4 is a keeper for sure.

Thanks to all for the great pics and reports. yeah bubba is famous for being very stoney.. i tend to take them at about 8 weeks or a few days more. The good examples should be like the cut in that that are stoney but also have a nice cerebral quality to them.
as long as most of the trics are milky and i see a few brown then i am happy to harvest. you tend to get the flavors and head high come through a little then.

this started out as just a short note on smells, but ended up as a long rant, im very sorry, its 2.30am here and im half thru a joint of bubba, so brainfunction is at a minimum
I started out with 15 seeds, lost one, so 14 females, out of those was 3 very short and slow growing plants that never realy started flowering, so they where discarded after some weeks.
One tall and branchy plant, it was the one that yielded the most, but not the most potent of them, and overall not as nice looking or smelling as the others, the taste was typical bubba, that kind of minty cold taste/feeling when you inhale, cant describe it, but if you smoked it you know what i mean
the 2 main phenos was a tall stocky one and a short stocky one, very thick stems and not much side branching, and the buds are very dense and covered in resin (typing break, need to roll another of this tasty goodness) (on a sidenote: this shit is potent, and very tasty, too tasty, cant stop smoking and i´ve already smoked more than I should...)
okay so back to the 2 phenos, or I guess it should be 4... anyways there is tall, short, green and purple in different combinations, the green phenos have what im guessing is the typical bubba taste, that minty cold kind of taste I tried to describe before, I never had a real kush clone, but I have grown several og and bubba crosses and its the same taste you will find in some phenos in most kush crosses, the short pheno is around 30-40% shorter than the tall one but in everything else they are the same, I kept clones from two taller ones since they yielded a bit more (and had the biggest most sticky stinky dense buds).
And then there is a purple/dark pheno, which I guess is the most interresting one, when you look at the plants in profile they are the same as the green ones, some tall and some 30-40% shorter like the green, same shape, crystal coverage and densenes of buds as the green, but the smell and taste varies alot, I dont think two of the purple plants smell and taste the same, all of them are sort of "off" smells, I have one thats smells like the standard closan toiletcleaner (that blue stuff you squrt in the toilet when (if) you clean it, no citrus scent or anything, just oldschool toilet cleaner smell) I must admit I havent had the nerve to test the taste yet, but hopefully it whont taste the same.
Then there is one that smells of cinnamon... never had that before, and im not a big fan of cinnamon unless its in cake, but I hate tea with cinnamon and the thought of smoking something that taste of that has putten me off testing it too.
Then we have my keeper of the purples, its also one of the tall phenos, and when just dried the smell and taste is not exactly pleasent, there realy is no smell to compare if to, its just "wrong", but now after 2 or 3 months in the jar it has transformed into this still very strange but yet intriguing sour old kitchen cabinet yogurty musty moldy smell with just a hint of sweaty socks and fruit, and it taste pretty much the same, it may not sound so nice but I must admit I kind of like it, the only reason I dont smoke it much is because its without doubt the most potent of all the bubbas I grew, it leaves me too paralyzed on my couch.
There are 2 more purple phenos, but they are also in the "wrong" category and they havent stood out when given the nose test, and the green bubbas just taste so damn nice that I havent gotten around to smoking them yet
So what I realy wanted to do was write something short about the smells of the purple phenos and ask those of you who have grown the same S1´s if you have found any crazy smells in the purple ones too?

there will be fat bubba F2s dropping soon and there should be some very bubba leaning phenos in there as well as some with a bit more sour and bubblegum leaning.
the fat bubba is a really great smoke, i reach for that jar quite often (and i have quite a few jars to choose from )

Gonna start my second pack this week, didn't find anything worth while the first time. I've gotta a very fine smelling male of a peyote purple cross i did to nl/c99 that is waiting for the right girl. All 3 plants of my last pack of s1's were good just nothing really caught my attention. Never had the pre98 so i am not sure what i am looking for or what i like. All i hear is it smells like bubba but i have no idea what that is. It wasn't the heaviest of smokes i've had but it was a well rounded satisfying experience.

Damn dude, killing it. The Pre-98 I used to get had a Chocolate/Lemon/Coffee/Cured Meat/Funk, with accents of Gold and Purple all over the flowers. One of my favorite smokes by far.
