Coco education for experienced growers

Do you mean ok 13/14 ?? How do you like that ?? Can you tell a difference compared to not using it ?
sorry, I meant pk13/14 yes, and I do notice a difference when I use it at the end of week5 , just 2 applications. Then start tapering off the V+B at week 7 to finish at 9

Im using nothing but V+b after than and drip clean at 1mil per gallon with very healthy plants. Veg + Bloom by Hydroponic Research is the best one part I have used yet. but I had great results with House and Garden as well as Canna. V+B is the easiest no brainer Nute I have used with great results which works great for an old stoner like me.

Too many changing variables for me to say what made the most difference tho. Maybe next grow I will be able to settle.

My formula for simple, foolproof, and reasonably priced coco:
1. Canna coco. Worth the money.
2. K.I.S.S. method. Why waste money on expensive Canna nutes, when you get as good or better results with Maxibloom?
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=191645
You don't have to get anal about measuring it as OP does on first page. Just use the included measuring spoon.
3. Hempy buckets for your coco. Outperform any other kind of pots by FAR, and foolproof.

Another Hempy bucket thread, but much longer:

4. Forget Boost/Rhizotonic. They work, but are a ripoff. Get the generic versions at MBFerts. Active ingredient in Boost is triacontanol, a growth hormone. They also have generic Rhizotonic/Boost/Superthrive/etc. mix that is cheap.
Links here:
http://mbferts.com/Hormone-Vitamin-B...native-116.htm
Replaces a number of very expensive products cheaply.
They also have straight triacontanol, which requires polysorbate 20, as it is not soluble in water. It's very cheap, and full instructions are on their webpage @:
http://www.mbferts.com/TRIA-Triacontanol_c20.htm
There is also a YouTube video on how to use it. That new combo product looks pretty good. MBFerts is by far the best grow shop in the world. No more getting ripped off.
5. Tap water. No need for cal/mag, especially with Canna coco, which is pre-charged.

Thanks for the info ! Do you lower your base nutes when you use ok13/14?? And do you apply the ok13/14 full strength half strength ? Sorry for all the questions.

Personally I lower the base when I add the pk13/14 and use it at about half strength but try to achieve the same EC/ppm (strain dependent) so it may go up a bit

Im a bit of a rebel, I use H&G coco, Cal-mag plus, Blood bud, Big bud, Overdrive, Hygrozyme, Floralicious plus, Drip clean, Pro-tek silicate, and Sweet. Thats five different companies. 5 years with this lineup and not a problem to date. Excellent quality, excellent yield. Ive had the same results when subbing H&G coco with Humboldt nutrients master A and B. Good stuff there.

The same guy that developed Canna, developed H&G...

That's why they are so similar and both do great work.

The main difference in my opinion is cost/quantity. Canna is obviously more expensive.

As far as personal preference, I am running DTW coco with maxibloom, calimagic, drip clean and sm90. Running 1.4-2.0 EC throughout the cycle, 5.8 pH steady. 0 issues and SO simple/cost effective.

As far as recirculating coco I would say the main problem is the water is very clogged with coco/perlite/heavy salts. The purpose of running off is to carry out old nutes, introduce more O2 to the root zone and replenish new correctly balanced nutrient/pH to the root zone.

When you collect the runoff you are basically getting whats left over, very imbalanced and pH crazy sometimes. Then you add that back to a balanced reservoir full of new nutrients and mess up the profile.

If you want to recirculate I would go ebb and flow with hydroton.

Just my 2 cents!

gh lucas formula ro water cal mag big bud into over drive carb load suger daddy

on drip 3x a day for a few minutes rez change every 8 to ten days. all pots flushed with ph ro water then empty my rez and do it again. ph didnt budge my ppm in and ppm out stay almost even. no drip clean my drip lines were fine just a good filter on my pump.

the whole dtw thing get over hyped. u can use coco just like rockwool. my friend hit almost 2p a lot with chem 4 first run of his life. the ro and ten day flush is key. just use a rez that not that big so by the time its almost empty its flush and refill. I went to dtw for years and was wondering why. if your ppm in and ppm out stay about the same your feeding them the same. they love 3 small feeds a day. just like rockwool slabs

Forget all the cannabis fertilizers and go to hardware store and buy some organic tomato food or something. Add it to coco and let it cook for 2 weeks. Plant and watch them grow like a mofo and add nothing but water. Easy. Forget all the ph and ppm meters and stay away from anything related to cannabis =) Best reciepe for huge and healthy yields =)

joe brand do you ever run into gnat problems with the coco always being wet like that?? I used to hand water once a day to once every other day .. setting up a drip system would be much less hassle..i used dutch or bato buckets with hydroton in the bottom 1/4 of the bucket and 100% coco in the rest of the bucket..( thinking about doing 50/50 coco/perlite) for better drainage ... buckets drain into pvc pipes that go to my waste reservoir .. I use two 600 hps lights and im only getting around 12 zips each light :( but I had some cal or mag issues last run with gh 6/9 method ..ph got really low and leaves started yellowing with brown spots and dying off...I think I may have also been over feeding..not sure..sorry for the rambling

For gnats I topdress with a half inch of oil dry that is 100% diatomaceous earth from the auto parts store.
Works great. Even used it straight out of the bag by itself and it works great with 6/9 gh or my new favorite nutes, flora duo by gh. Best nutes I've used in decades.

as above.. as much as retro likes to talk.. he is on the mark with this. I dont post much but starting my 3rd grow ( years of xperience with soil) using the maxi coco method and am knocking it out of the park for the work Im putting in to it. Can it be done better?.. probably.. Can it be done better cheaper and easier??.. No f'n way!... My age caught up with me and I had to find a better way.
Read mostly everything I can on growing options. Settled on KISS maxi/coco.. May play with some enhancers (kool bloom) this time around ,,, may not.. But I am sold on the KISS Maxi method for the
rest of my life if I cant find something easier/more economical for
base growing. If everyone realized this it would probably put a lot
of nute companies on hard times ( not my goal). Yeah you can probably do better then Maxi/Kiss method. But the reward/work ratio is only for the serious conossieur (sp?) with cannabis.

i have some left over grow micro and bloom of gh 3 part series.. currently in coco and hydroton in veg . im currently mixing all three parts in equal amounts, with ro water and 5ml/gal of calmag+.... anyone have any experience with coco and gh in equal parts?? I know the 6/9 method is most used..ive used that before but I was wanting to use all three parts in coco...any with any experience or suggestions , let me know ! currently im at 1.0ec and 5.9-6.0 ph ...looking good so far

anyone have any input with coco ec with maxibloom only ... in veg right now decent size lady a little over a foot lst ing ... have yellowing lower leaves with some dark spots on just a little bit of new growth... tap 250 ppm .5ec feeding .9 ec right now... everyone says to use 7g/gal of maxibloom but that seems really high ... i watered it down to .9 any input would be great !!!!

Over a foot LST'ed and only feeding .4ec on top of your water...
Don't be afraid to up the dose if she's not looking too dark..

A while back I used 7g/gal MB and it did well for me, ~250ppm tap as well.

anyone have any input with coco ec with maxibloom only ... !

I been running straight coco with Maxibloom for a couple years. My tap water EC is low, 0.2. I first rinse the coco with Maxibloom @ 0.9 EC plus some CalMag. Then for flowering, I start at 1.4 EC and adjust from there.

just mixed up 5 gallons at 7g/gal = total of 35 g maxibloom . tap= .5ec total ec with nutes is 1.9 ph 6.0 is 1.9 going to be too hot ?? dont want to burn them.... they have been in veg for over a month ...before i was feeding at a total ec of .9 that includes the .5 ec tap water....

Replied to the KISS thread. Guess we could try to detour this into there…

But again, .9 to 1.9 is too drastic. Go to 1.4 and your bottom yellowing should stop and plants look more green. Sometimes 5gal bucket=4gal water
