Do my cats seem to prefer their favorite weed fresh or dry?

I don't think it's very good for cats and dogs to eat weed, or smoke it for that matter.

Although I did have a bird once that had the run of the house and he used to eat buds and then either regurgitate them later or shit them out.
I called him the Bud Bandit, because he used to steal buds and then run off with them.

Both of those pics are of catnip, hence the "their favorite weed" part.

Although one of them (the one in only one shot) has developed a fondness for the leaves on the plants. She has always been into cat grass more than cat nip. In fact there is a cat nip plant in my grow. . . that is not the plant she is interested at all. They are still only in veg so I have been letting her have one small leaf a day and she is loving it. I may have to just start growing normal grass in there for her at this point. . . my cats just love being weird.

i gave a thumbs up to this post while trying to hit the quote button.

I actually disagree.

i think cats benefit from eating fresh leaves. especially indoor cats who can't eat grass. they get enzymes they need for digestion and urinary tract health.

I'm convinced that my beautiful little grey and white cat died because he no longer had leaves to eat when i tore down the grow last year.

I have a calico that is around 18 or 20 years old. she will sit next to me when I am thinning leaves & eat ALL of the small ones...

I've had several cats in my grows over the years that absolutely loved eating leaves. I seriously doubt it could be anything other than beneficial to them. Cats and other animals seem to instinctively know there's something in there that they need.

Only time I would ever pull an animal away from a plant is if they're taking too much or if that plant was treated with something they should not ingest.

That maybe why my cat is always trying to get in my cardboard box containing my jars and a bag of leaves...
He likes to hang around when we smoke as well. We don't blow the smoke in his direction but he comes pretty damn close to our mouth/joint so I figure he likes it. I'm not going to prohibit him from getting high it's his choice...

We've had several cats over the years. Some loved fresh catnip to the point that we had to invert metal milk crates over the plants to have more than green nubs. Others never cared for it fresh or dried. Our current feline overlords seem to prefer dried but will accept fresh, provided that the wife picks it for them.

They particularly enjoy toy mice marinated in the jar. Our grey female likes to stick her head in the jar for a really big hit, like Scarface snurfling cocaine out of the bag, then dragging out her choice from the toy mice. She's chronic.

our cat loved sitting on the balcony with the plants but definitely does NOT like a smoke filled room.

My cat helps me trim leaves. When I accidently leave the grow room door open the cat helps him self to leaves. Normally the plants are large enough so they get roughed up some but never destroyed. I have a patch of catnip out back that all the neighborhood cats enjoy but my cat only sort of likes it.
