It sucks here in Cali. I took the cup winning buds to Iona's Farmacy they did not want it. Now if the buds are good enough to win a cup but they don't want it something is fishy . I asked more questions. he told me we want B grade we make more money from that. If all dispo's are like that we have a serious problem here in Cali. People stop selling your top shelf for so little and stop flooding the area with poorly grown bud.. Its getting so hard to sale some of the best weed in the world here in Cali.

had this conversation from my perspective ( instead of pf's cali perspective) with my strain tester yesterday.

the dealers (dispenseries are dealers, the guy at the convience store that gets half their profit off booze/beer is a dealer, the bartender is a dealer, the state sanctioned liquor stores are dealers) are about making money.

the general public are basically a bunch of cheap-scapes. price moves volume.

this is why outdoor grown multiple tonnage grows with machine trimmed product will be back as cannabis manufacturing persecution/prosecution wanes underneath a "medical marijuana" facade. this product can be sold at $60/oz = $1k/lb=$2,000 million/ton.

the answer for the grower of really good product will be to supply "stealth dealers" operating out of mom and dad's house, low end rental units, taco stands, flea markets, low end convienence stores, etc.. and have their own unique packaging.

growers will need to develop their brand. "blue magic" was some ultra strong heroin in nyc that quickly overtook the street market due to its earned reputation and packaging.

SL and Purple Frostbyte have developed their brands in the most credible manner possible.

sl has his own dealer supplied by him network per his posts.

top shelf product has its place. it deserves top shelf compensation. so means needs to be employed so that the buyer can recognize the grower and the cut/strain.

sl has done this exceptionally well.

already posted this before, but 80% of the market cares more about price than quality, thats proven through a study of legal MJ users in colorado. thats why open sun blue dream at 12 a LB sells way quicker than much nicer OGs at 18. I've been sitting on a couple of my top notch OG kush outs because my brokers don't want to pay the 4-500+ premium i want on those over the bulk dreams and queens. they might take 1 of the nice ones for themselves but the rest of the order is "whatevers cheapest"...

just the way the market is, can't blame the consumers, some people don't have tons of expendable cash like growers. if they can buy a 40 dollar 8th instead of a $60 8th, they just saved 20 bucks for the gas tank, booze, or food for the day.

thats why extracts will just keep getting more popular, a 40 dollar gram will outlast a 40 dollar 8th and get you way higher.

You can sum up the whole game with one word

paclobutrazol

The game is always going to be going in circles when everyone is growing the same shit... you have to find something special...and never let her go ..if you want to be around for a while

so much damn paclo herb floating around CA right now....sad because the kids usually think its the high grade since its so bulked up and dense but noticeable terpene and taste difference. although with the way it stops GSC stretch and increases her yield 2x can't really blame all the cash croppers for going that route.

I will have 2 varieties with me at the Sf CUP. The GG#4 / OG Mango Haze. both are winners IMO. I have planed for 1/2lb of ea strain to be ready in time for the cup. There will be more but don't think I need to bring more then 1/2lb of ea. Will also have time for a cure on both as well. Bog has been wonderful he told me he has my tickets but I already bought my VIP ticket OH well.. .

The OGM is The Original OG sourced from Humboldt crossed with Neville's Mango Haze. She is fantastic. 1 of the best OG's i have grown. You could get addicted to the terpene profile of this one. Cant wait to share this with everyone. I will be doing my best to run the dabs and load's at BOG's Booth. Gonna be fun cant wait my first cup:D.

ALL dispensaries buy for the LOWEST price possible, and sell at the HIGHEST price they can get.

It is business. Not compassion.

No sense whinging about it one way or another. The law of supply and demand is a stronger force than kindness.

Man, out here in the Rocky Mtn's I'm coming across very limited commercial sized runs (all around impressive nugs) grown with anything resembling 'compassion'
(And not to jump on the rec band wagon moan session, it's really dropped through the floor (quality) since Jan 1.

Oh well, this is what we wanted, right?
As I just quoted, brand or die.

Oh, and by 'brand' I mean develop a local loyal customer base, with appropriate quality and price to attract customers, then make sure they keep coming back, take it one state/step at a time as the new age dawns.
(Because like it or not, it IS coming.)
Brand or die.

This is so true. But they will not buy top shelf buds and that because they make more money from lower grade bud. I have had this experience. they don't care how good your buds are. the more money they make that's what there going to buy. He even asked me if I had any B grad bud

As i posted in another thread, there are pocket of Los Angeles that are really hurting for quality OG and Cookies. The Upper-middle class neighborhoods that most people that arent locals dont realize are even there. got a unit each off @ 3 for OG and Cookies respectively. its turned into a witch hunt these days to really get a good donation for QUALITY flower.
