I def plan on flowering under the CMH... just wanna do it right and get clones off these plants from seed before flowering them, and want to get them nice and big before flowering also, they need to be transplanted into organic soil asap and veg a lil longer.

No good reason not to flower under them. This was grown under them.... massive trichome production. My only gripe is they don't seem bright enough, though Rives looks to be proving me wrong on that. I have 2 in a 4x4 tent, and I'm adding another 200w of LEDs.... why? Cause I have them and there's room :dance013:

Got a 6" & a 4" fan exhausting the tent... Canopy temps ~82F. Not optimal, but I have 830w goin (real watts on the LEDs, not the BS rating)

Oh, that bud was under the canopy btw

Such beautiful fall colours on that plant. I've grown blacks, purples, pinks.. but never RED.

I've read the last 50 pages of this thread but am still a little confused about compatibility.

The Philips 315W Green Power CDM-TP (formerly the CDM-T Elite Agro) found here.

https://www.cycloptics.com/415216

Will work with the Philips Ballast included with all the cheaper kits coming out. Found here.

http://advancedtechlighting.com/cdmmw.htm

and this ballast will work with the 930 and 942 315w bulbs as long as you have the right sockets.

And I'm assuming that the Green Power bulb is supposed to be better for horticulture than the 930 and 942.

If all that is correct. Then what socket type is the Green Power Bulb and is it rated to hang without a reflector or housing?

yep that's the ballast..

they just came out with mogul version, who knows why, IDK

yep, sockets for the agro / 930 / 942 are the PGZ sockets

yes, you will need a PGZX18 socket to hang bare.. well you can hang the non-open rated bulbs, but if it pops, it's gonna be messy... and not recommend I think by anyone, including me.

I would just fire the 930 in that package.. why go through the trouble sourcing a PGZ socket, and buy another bulb, when that kit comes with one

I agree with keeping it simple. The website selling the kit is actually pretty confusing. I had to email him to ask exactly what was in the kit. I could only find it stated in the paypal summary after you add to cart. And then it just says ballast and bulb. Apparently the bulb is the 942 because it's marketed towards aquarium guys?... Maybe. My comprehension isn't the best.

He was very friendly and sounded flexible so I'm sure you could ask for the 930 instead. I don't think the kit comes with the socket though.

I'll probably be buying the kits either way or at least the ballast which he sells for $200 and are $350 everywhere else I've looked.

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like my last run was very leafy with CMH. Is this normal with the extra blue? The ridic amounts of resin and diamond like density def made up for it ;) I'm thinking about supplementing with some red LEDs.

I saw the low watt versions of CMH bulbs at http://www.seattlehydroponics.com/ i have a small grow space 11"x11"x30" that i would like to try a CMH in. Not familiar with their heat profile...Between 50w-150w what would you guys suggest for my space? easy answer is to just grab the lowest wattage and try it out but not sure if I would be able to push the space and go for the 150w?

Do you have ventilation? Are you being stealthy? You have a budget? Would you consider the 210W? These bulbs don't throw a lot of heat as there are low wattage and rather efficient.

I wanted more PAR/intensity while learning bare vert. Once I get everything situated, I'll really be able to see what this beast can do. Only prob is the need for a mag MH ballast.

I'm running a 860 bare vert also - with some horizontal hps.

I had a MH ballast laying around so it was just the cost of the bulb for me. $100 vs 4-6 for comparable wattage. In the end a vert bulb fit my space better than trying to add more horizontal light.

Yeah I have ventilation. I am trying to be stealthy but it's not a critical factor. I can run a 135 cfm pc fan or a 180 can both pushing into a scrubber. 210 feels like overkill for less than a squarefoot....sounds like I can roll with a 150 then I'd you are suggesting that.

How you liking the 860? I now have my plants 12" from bare bulb :O I was 16-18" away on my first run, and got the resin and density...I'd like to supplement with some more red like you are. Thinking about adding a 400w HPS or some 660nm LEDs. I'll do another run with bulb closer before I change anything.

So far so good, nice warm uv and lots of colors coming out.

How many runs do you think you'll get out of a bulb. I usually go two, but might go 3-4 with that beast. Also, looks like your tops are and 18" away. Smart cuz I just bleached mine at 12" lol. That extra blue gives a ton of goo ;)

Got myself exited about CMH bulbs.

Is any of you running the small 70W G12 socket bulbs (CDM-T)? I would love to try them for a micro grown but the only problem is the totally enclosed luminaire thing. Thinking about building something for like 2-3 bulbs. Glass and metal, would it be safe? Has any of you tried something?

Will this ballast work with this and this?

What i can make of this diagram, the ballast will run three bulbs, right?
