get Gourmet Mc Cormick from the grocery store(cost more but never had them not germ) and lowes or walmart for hens and chicks and peony. to test germ rate for Mc Corm put a small batch sprinkled on dirt into the fridge for a few days seed should turn like a brown color. then pull them out and put in a sunny window and they should warm up and sprout. they do require cold to bring them out of dormancy that's why some overwinter them while others plant in feb. around the 14th or so.

I got mine from a regular forum but have seen them on darknets for sale (only used for anonymous seed/maybe clone- shopping)
look for Papaver Somniferum Giganteum
this is a large pod with beautiful purple yellow flower (I'd grow some of these just to add the flower to a bottle of vodka or gin)
I still have some seeds but unfortunately the site makes it impossible to PM to arrange gifts or swap/trades.
plus the rules and stuff.
maybe one day i'll create a user on another forum and do it the "icmag-legal" way

So ive had my first lot of giant poppies just sprouting, almost 1/5th the size of hemp seedlings, practically invisible, a transparent 0.2mm stemp about 1mm high.
my dad knocked a heated propagator of in excess of 50 seedlings, and mixed the soil together along with 3 seeds of "Highway Delight" feminised seed.
after half hour, i found one hemp seed and about 6 poppy seed sprouts.

They are one of the most delicate, beautiful flowers imaginable. Their fragrance is bewitching and unforgettable.
Still, "It has been said that no other plants have eased so much human suffering, or caused so much, as the poppies."
Giganteum can grow 4-6 feet...hard to hide their distinctive pods.
Hen and Chicks don't look too much like the atypical pod with all the "chicks" surrounding it.
Other varieties Drama Queen, Danish Flag, Pepperbox, Pink Fizz are arguably the most spectacular blooms you'll ever see.
They are almost too easily found online.
A lanced or scored pod is a signed confession.
Be smart and treat this plant with great respect and extreme caution.

I'm growing White Persians from Seeds of Change as well as Black Poppies. I bought the seed in 07 and it was still good. I cant wait to oogle the blossoms.
There are tons of seed available if one looks around. I picked up both of the above mentioned packs at my local nursery. I also just ordered Hens and Chicks from Seed Savers Exchange.

which ones are most potent????
Get some and plant some...
orientals are hairy leaved
somniferums are smooth leaved
but they're basically the same.
i get my poppy seeds from the roadside.
Of course they're little golden poppies, but they'll sure look good in my garden next spring.

Am I gathering that all poppies have the drug in them?
Do you score them and collect the opium or do you just make tea from a pod?
Can you make tea from a pod once it has been scored and collected from?
The stuff collected from a scored pod is raw opium?
Any further processing needed to the raw opium or is it smoked straight away?
I do know the dangers of addiction but also know to respect it. I have participated in doing addictive drugs with that respect. The key is moderation. Smoking opium is a long way away from injecting heroin. I have been told by junkies that you cannot get really addicted smoking or snorting the stuff, but I know better. She probably meant you will not be a helpless drug addict like her by only smoking it. Still, it is not true. You can be addicted and will want to inject it eventually if you do not respect the boundaries. God put everything on earth for us to use in moderation. Doctors are profiteers and have to follow the law. But a person needing help with things like a bad toothache or other should be able to treat and heal himself. I only go to the doctor as a last resort.
A side note. I know a man that only has so long to live right now from long cancer stage 4. He is in a lot of pain and is going to die. If I were him I would turn to the strongest natural opiates available. Addiction is not an issue if he only has months to live. The drug will help with his pain and help him deal with the fact he is leaving the earth soon. It is not a sin to cope with this situation in a way that the doctors are not allowed to by stupid laws. I imagine if it were not illegal doctors would prescribe heroin for those in extreme pain and of those that are dying. It is supposed to be the best pain killer available.

I have a large amount of seeds (like carrier bags full) from a poppy grow i did a few years ago on a farmers "resting" soil (no one suspects a poppy field to be for opium in the uk! - very easy to get away with!). The opium from it was very fucking strong, not really my "cup of tea" but i do love the flowers and i suppose the occasional cup of opium tea before a long haul flight or something is cool.
They grow pretty much anywhere and you can treat them poorly and they wont die. Once established they are quite hardy, and need pretty much no nutrients (despite what certain people may tell you)

You can't grow enough to create any sort of addiction risk really. Beautiful flowers, almost like watercolours the way the colours bleed into each other, well worth growing.
