Purple Haze x Malawi. Trying to keep up with terpene. This one is about 11 weeks or so in. Another 5-8 to go...

My Purple Haze Thai x F13 cross. First seed popped, so a long way to say whether this was a good cross, but if this is an average specimen, then there are likely a few gems in the hundreds of seeds I've got. A week or two to chop.

My keeper cut (so far) of the original release Strawberry Diesel. This one leans towards the Sour Diesel in bud structure though a little bit more airy/foxtail like the Cough. It's sour diesel goodness with a fresh whiff of berry delight. Another week or two as well on this one.

She does get dark. You'll need to let me know how you liked the Bubba. Mine was a first time grow with her and not completely dialed in. Thought she was nice, but not spectacular. Rats got into my mom and clone cab this summer and chewed my cut up...oh well.

Love that GG!

Good luck this weekend!

I got hit up by rats this summer too. They got my veg 1 night and flower the next. Chewed the "bark" right off the stalks. It happened in the dead of summer during the week the humidity level dropped almost to zero (and not since) so I assumed they did it for the water content.

Yep, they chewed the bark off of every last one of my mothers. They also trashed all my cuts in the aero cloner...chewed up all the foam disks to get to the water in the rez. Never did get into my flower cab (luckily). So, I will be popping beans and securing a few cuts to get the mother stock refreshed.

Sorry to hear about the rodent problem. Here's how you keep them from coming back.

Don't waste your time with anything that snaps or is sticky to kill them, they only kill foraging adults and do nothing to stop the mother / young from keeping the breeding / eating cycle going. Besides, snap traps SUCK when they snap on your hand, and glue boards are a guaranteed way to hear a rodent scream for its life... for hours.

Go to home depot / lowes and buy the large rodent blocks and black (football sized) bait stations. Put the bait inside the animal / child proof containers, and place the stations around the property, along walls. Rodents use the walls as guides for navigation, so they will funnel right into your bait stations, gorge themselves on poison, regurgitate / feed it to their young and kill the entire colony off.

Expect to refill the stations every month initially, every two months after that. Just a side note - there is a very small chance that a rodent will die before it can get outside. (The anticoagulants make rodents really thirsty in the last minutes of life.) Ono and similar products work great in these rare emergencies.

I agree on the bait solution. The new anti-coagulant baits do not have the side
effect of making the animal ill in any way that it can associate with the bait.
(apparently the could learn to avoid the older, arsenic-based, poison baits)

I have had to do this to protect my vegetables! :0)

What happens when pets or other predators eat the poisoned rodent?

When animals eat rodenticide, the same thing that happens to rodents happens to them - but at varying rates based on the animal's vitamin K levels in their diet.

Dogs are usually the most interested in the bait and have the worst reaction. After ingestion, the dog will have to see the vet and take vitamin K pills for a month after being exposed to toxic levels of rodenticide. Do not have the vet give them shots of vitamin K, it can overload the dogs system and cause anaphylactic shock - killing them on the spot.

Cats do better because of the high levels of vitamin K in their foods, but it's still not good for them. If your cat consumes rat poison, its still a good idea to take them to a vet. Pills will solve the problem and *I think* cats are fine with vitamin K shots, but that's a decision left to the vet.

To answer your question: Toxic levels from rat poison are typically 5-10% of the animal's body weight. The dose needed to kill a rodent is so minimal that its similar to taking aspirin for most predators. It's a light shock to the system, but hardly anything to worry about. If you have a very small dog and it somehow manages to eat a dozen poisoned rats in a single sitting - then it would be about the same as eating poison straight.

Like I said, bait stations are the way to go.
