Hi Kiwi, mate final dry weight 450g. I was a bit hopeful on the original gestimate I have never weighed the green buds before. I didnt think they would loose so much. Still i am very happy with the yield for a first time. Next grow will be better now I understand her more.

Still a nice yield though mate.
You can never guess the yield on a first run with a strain.
I know it's early but what's the high like? uncured of course.

My God man they are going to be big! The high is very strong, makes me feel like running up walls and flying.
As far as my experience in Malawi goes its just an average high but I think I can improve her outside this winter.
The high lasts 4 to 6 hours depending on whether you finish the joint. I hope after a cure it will improve in the visual area. The stuff that was good in Malawi would give you visual halucinations similar to acid. I always preferd the high from good Malawi to Acid its more fun.
Thats what I meant when I said the grows I did previously were not as strong as the malawi grown product. Saying that its still a strong smoke and nothing to whinge about I love it.
I am sure you will be blown away by the power when you harvest yours. You cant smoke to much or you cant function at all. I feel like superman after 2 or 3 hits, if it improves beyond that after curing I will be rapt.
Dont let me make you think its not strong, its just that there are much more powerful types but only in Malawi its the best I have had outside the country and I give 5 stars to Ace for preserving such good genetics one day they may not exist in the pure form.
I will post my outdoors grow if they dont get eaten by roos or stolen fingers crossed.
You are def doing something right they look really healthy should be awesome come harvest cant wait for the pics.

Man you make the high sound awesome
I reckon pure sativas need to be grown outside to get terpenes you can't get inside.

Ace Malawi was selected at the same latitude as me but north, Spain has a similar climate to NZ so it should show its potential. Plus it's already flowering so it should finish off nicely.
I'm thinking early may at the most for this version of Malawi.

I have a thin leaf phenotype, apparently this is more of the 'killer' mother that is devestating and trippy while the broader phenos are more energetic.

This is a hybrid of Malawi though, so there's more variation and Malawi isn't just 'one' strain after all. There's a fast purple pheno in 5% of the plants that I want to find.

How tall do you reckon they will get?.

Oh yeah and I Like straight up honest smoke reports so when it comes to trying I don't have huge expectations. You're probably one of the more experienced Malawi growers on this forum apart from the breeders themselves.

I'm smoking some finger/scissor hash too from my harvest today.

Hi Kiwi if you can let it go to the max I am sure you will be rewarded, as for height your area seems really good for growing. I used to make islands like graves in a swamp at the end of winter, chuck in a bag of cow shit and blended manure and never water them. As the water table dropped and the swamp dried up in summer, their roots followed, it worked well. They used to get to 4 mtrs no worries.
Whatever pheno you get I am sure it will be very strong and put a smile on your dial.
I am trying to convince the missus that we need to go back for a safari of fishing to Malawi, its a very nice place and the people super friendly. Of course I would look for the best gear and bring seeds back. Winning all round.
This Ace Malawi that I have grown could be a lot stronger, I will try to bring out the max power on my bush grow. But it may not have it in it. I have some Holy Smoke mulangi gold and Mozambique poisen to try as well. If the Mulangi is good I will cross it with the Ace to get more power. Either way its nice to have real trippin smoke again.

The malawis are loving your climate and good cares kiwigreen420 :)

They still have at least 6 weeks of very vigorous growth before they want to really start flowering at your latitude (my estimation is around mid-late March).

Thanks dubi, It has really adapted well to my climate along with the Taskenti.

Yeah end of march is when sativa flowers really kick into gear,
I'm thinking early May if the weather permits? maybe end of may if the weather turns bad.

How much does the Ace Malawi stretch outside?.

Tang - I have some Mozambique Poison,Zambezi,Drankensberg and Malawi gold from Holy smokes. The Mulanje and Malawi are quality plants for sure.

Hi Kiwi are you currently growing them?

Very interested in the Zambezi, I spent a year and a half in Zambia up in the copper belt.

Also the Mozambique near the border with Malawi, Tete area, real tripping grass from there.

Lots of lesser known strains of really good smoke. You are a lucky man.
Quality genetics from Africa, you will have a good year for sure mate.

Tangwena

Na decided not to use them this year because they grow outrageously tall.

I've heard of that zambian copper. Have you had any transkei red? real tripping weed from there.

Yeah Africa is definitely way too unexplored, such a big landmass. Who knows what strains there are.

Decided to use the indoor Malawi for hash because it had bugs and poor structure from being chopped back too much.

Have you used Bat Guano before?. Earth Juice seems to be the best all round organic company.

hi Kiwi those plants will be double that size by end of flower, I hope you have a ladder.
I tried dozens of different types while I was in africa most of the time you had no idea where they came from. you just scored what was currently available. Most of the time it eas good and came from the guys who worked for trucking or rail companies they had it quite well organised. Apart from Malaw there were no names attached to the cobs by the sellers we just sniffed the cob and could tell if it was good or not a real lottery. Even if you asked where it was from you mostly got told whatever they thought you wanted to here, Malawi. but from the train drivers we got swazi, transkie, and durban poisen. If they came up from south africa going back they took Malawi to sell in S.A

Hi Randy, Angola not that I new but like I said it came in by train and truck from SA. via botswana anything was possible. I know some of the gear we got was unlike anything I have had since. I will relate a story. Once I scored 3 twists, they are small pieces cut from compressed cobs. At 10c a twist, one twist was enough to get you high and made a match stick joint. I shared one with a friend it smelt awesome we had 3 drags each and started walking across a field. First my ears started ringing really loud, then my mouth dried up and I couldn't speak easily because my tongue was stuck.
Then i started getting really strong visual hallucinations. It was as if some body had taken a photo of the field in front of me and then folded it up into thin strips and then opened it up in front of me to look like the field was stepped up into multiple steps. I kept trying to lift my feet up onto the first step. It was so strong that it didnt occure to me that it wasnt real.
Once I crossed the field my friend split and took of on his own trip. I remember walking along a path so fast the wind was whistling past my face and I was sure I was superman.
This lasted for hours and I was physicaly exhausted after and drained like when you come down from micro dots.
That was one day when I just scored a smoke from a dealer in the red light district. I dont know where it came from. I never found the dealer when I went back the next day.
I had an African friend from Malawi who used to deliver to my house whenever he came across something special. When I look back on it I was very lucky, but we never needed to grow it. So we never kept seeds or anything because you knew the next great smoke was just around the corner. I have a lot to learn to produce herb as good as that.

Tangawena you've experienced highs only 1% of marijuana smokers have.
You've lived a marijuana enthusiasts dream. These days the only high I get is the typical hybrid 'numb' or 'tired' stone.

Malawis don't look like they're flowering yet, just shown sex but no progression into flower.

Hi Kiwi like Dubi said they are gunna keep growing for 6 weeks! They will be massive come harvest you will not know what to do with all the smoke! You are one lucky fella to be able to grow it outside that way. Make sure you give her extra P and K ferts when the buds start coming. Each branch will turn into donkey dick colas for sure.I would start bending the branches and staking them out like jumbo scrog grow. You will double the harvest.
They have not started to flower yet, 14 weeks plus after buds form is my stab in the dark.
