Avi's Fresh Start

Mixing up the soil today, ricehulls instead of perlite, biochar activated with ACT, bails of peat, and a "fertilizer mix" tailor made by Eureka Springs Organics, consisting of:
oyster shell flour, azomite, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, neem cake, crab shells, fish bone meal, humates, fish meal, high p guano, and gypsum

Sounds awesome. I'll be watching with interest for sure . I'm wanting to go the way of organics myself. I have what i believe to be all the things i need for living soil i just don't know enough about it and i can't afford to mess up. Ah hell I'll probably end up trying at least a couple of strains that i know are hard for me to mess up (Black widow, critical jack)

Any particular reason you decided to use rice hulls instead of perlite ? Just curious.

Maybe I'll buy some things from ESO and he could point me in the right direction. I started a thread in Organic Soils and I have a starting point, But it just didn't take of the way i hoped i would.

Damn avi., I step away for two seconds and you're blowing the f*ck up. Again. And still!

:respect:

don't blink silver.... soon I'll have a new gro show in organic section... might even make a triumphant return to vert-ville.... ya never know what's gonna happen!
lots of work and good timing to get the old out and new in; altho the bucket system is a lil behind the soil side of the room.... all will be well... blink and that bucket system will be full.

thanks for checking in bud :dance013:

Top shelf work as usual Avi. Have you done much smoking on the Bay 11? I grew that out and I now find it to be one of my favs. I grew it out organically and after four months of curing it is finally where I want it to be. It improved kind of dramatically during the cure to the point where it is my current head stash.
I also bred with it and have a cross with Big Buddha's Cheese which I'm dying to grow out. A lot of people kind of poo poo the BB Cheese but I absolutely love how mine turned out. I think it's going to be a killer cross with the Bay 11.

the bay 11 is SUPER piney smoke, og flavor big time also, but the "sour pine" flavor really comes thru on my pheno... kinda lowish yield but the flavor makes it worth it.
a lil "sexually confused" perhaps... some hermie flowers around week 8ish 9ish

I agree on the flavor Avi. The uplifting high is pretty damn nice too.

everything that's to be flowered this round has been transplanted in to 3gal pots or 3 gal bags of organic soil made all with amendments from ESO
vegging up proper right now.... almost time to brew a tea.

What kind of teas are you brewing Avi?

I have been using pretty mild EWC and molasses tea that my plants really are loving. I have also been adding some earth juice grow and catalyst every other time I brew and they seem to be really digging it. Drizellas are blowing the fuck up!

Since I flipped a couple weeks ago I started brewing my first flowering tea yesterday using EWC, molasses, EJ bloom, EJ catalyst. Hoping for the best

more organic.... less "tell tale", cleaner

napa oil dry is another great organic perlite substitute. it is crystalline diatomaceous earth
(but still contains a % of amorphous DE, the plant available kind). it is a little heavy, but you
can look at it and see if the plants need water at a glance. it is a grey rock when wet, white
when dry. works amazingly well replacing perlite in coco mixes also, much preferred IMO.

thanks for the input, indianajones, ill look into that

lobster,
so far only made EWC tea with molasses, maxicrop soluble kelp, some subculture M&B.

I've transplanted all plants for flowering this round into 3 gal bags / pots, the bags being somewhat larger volume than the nursery pots (unfortunately, i'd prefer all the same size container, perhaps even a bed....) currently there are 32 plants per tray (2 1kw lites, 4x8) and several on buckets in the aisles.

unfortunately the bucket system side of the room is not ready to go yet, still cleaning it... kinda frustrated with it, also haven't properly planned for veg into the system... wanted to put clones into 3 inch rockwool cubes to veg... wanted to do that WEEKS ago, it didn't happen and i'm pretty pissed at myself now for not just doing it... plants woul dbe established and large by now, and it would have motivated me to get that system cleaned out because plants would be READY to go into ASAP...
all i can say good about that bucket system at the moment is that all the hydroton is cleaned....

keeping back the RD flo og 2 keeper phenos in veg as moms, keeping a chunky D back as a mom, and my harlequin mom keeping back (shes in organic soil also now), gonna flower out the flo x grimm mom in the aisle (also transpanted into organic soil).

time to take one more round of clones off these ladies before flipping... maybe a week, ten days (2weeks tops im hoping)

Everything in flowering looking good, spread out and have lots of space in between them, lite really penetrating, plants putting on fresh growth already. gonna take another round of clones, probably veg 2 or 2.5 weeks then flip.

decided im gonna flower out my harlequin mom, standing on a bucket in the aisle way between trays, getting lots of lite from both sides, will pull a smaller harlequin out as a new mom.

puffin that chunky D, super stoney indica style buzz and very tasty grapey sour smoke, made some nice dabs from chunky D mixed with flo x grimm in closed loop system made by duckman & double kindness... great unit pulling awesome yields and AMAZING product. ran a bunch of seeded up deadhead ogk buds a few weeks back right after harvest, running trim now very high quality trim of course, and it's coming out just as tasty.

I like the square pots . are the ones in tha last pic just sitting on plywood ?
yes,
that's my ghetto tray, plywood on cinder blocks, keeps pots off of the cold concrete floor, easier to work on...

cracking new seeds today...

thanks noyd!

hoping that bucket systems plants will reach about 12 to 15 inches in the next 10-15 days, but i think that is probably a tad hopeful, may take more like 3 full weeks, and the plants in organic soil on the other side of the room will be HUGE by then.... and may need a transplant....
OR
i drop another wall down the center of the room to separate the rooms while light cycles are different,
and I really don't want to do that, just sounds like light leaks waiting to happen...

also got some florel, wondering if i should just spray it to reduce the likeliness of hermies showing their faces (or... dicks :dunno: ). those deadhead ogk f2s last round really pissed me off, skeetskeetskeeting all over my nice flo x grimm reaper buds leaving some of them with lil white immature beginnings of seeds.

Nice thread. Damn you have a lot going on out there.
i stay busy....

thanks for checking in... I'm loving this organic soil so far!
:dance013:
what's your feeling about rootbound issues in those smallish containers, 3 gals, 2.5 maybe even... and 3 weeks of veg before flipping into flowering? am i asking for problems by overvegging in smallish containers?
