Yeah, it comes up positive using cannabis salve/topical treatment. On a narcotic contract (I take oxycodone 3x a day...low dose) treating severe chronic pain and got a SUR-prise!!!! urine drug test. Came up positive.

My family practitioner will no longer be at the helm for my severe pain issues..... panned me over to rheumatologist....again strict contract...no drinking, no cannabis of ANY kind....life is a blast.....(tsk!) So, instead, I continue to be a seed breeder....afterthought autos.

Take THAT....DEA!!!!

Cannabinoids are transdermal and will find their way into the blood stream when applied topically. Usually not enough for the person to notice head effects, but enough to be picked up by drug screening.

Do you know if they screen for all cannabinoids, or just the psychoactive THC?

Can't you find a new doctor? I'd leave and never come back if a doctor told me I had to take a drug test. Other doctors are out there.

Poppies are easy to grow from what I've read. If I had severe pain and no easy way to get a script, I'd grow my own poppies.

I don't want to drive another 40 miles....and ALL pain management contracts verse the same......

Western medicine is still governed by DEA....because their is too much substance abuse....and they put me in the same "box" of those abusing oxy. Because of my numerous health issues (and for decades used alternative methods....acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cannabis, cann salves etc.)....I have to go w/ their contract. Suffice to say....perhaps MMJ Dr. could formulate a plan....the ones I visited acknowledged I had a medical problem (or 7!) and deemed me a MMJ participant, but none sat down to formulate a plan....most said...medibles and left it at that. I've been to 3 MMJ consults in 2 MMJ states...seems to be the "usual".

If it's a narcotic contract (all pain management doctors have same contract)....the tox screen....screens ALL.

Employment drug screen....I'm sure it picks up all compounds of cannabis. They are looking for stimulants, opioid's, any illegal substance that is not Rx'd by a physician....very sensitive test.

If you are in a med state, having your rec on file with your doctor should get him off the hook with the DEA. My doctor drug his heels for years after the DEA mandated the UA crap for chronic pain patients, but finally had to cave. He told me in advance that it was coming, and that if I had cannabinoids in my system that I would need to get a rec on file with them - according to him, the DEA's reasoning is that without a rec, you are buying a "street drug" illegally. With the rec, you are getting your herb from a legal source. I've since been through several, and it has never been an issue even though I tested positive. Incidentally, most of my usage is via topicals.
