i used one of those bubblenow machines recently, gotta say it did a great job with the stirring, made a nice clean product, also a huge mess, but the hash is nice....

I swear by my 2 gal bucket and using it like a washing machine to detach the glands separate from the 5 gal bucket with the screens in it. Mixing...then pouring the concoction into the screen bucket....easy and cleans the glands off perfectly. I don't agitate the mix very much or for very long...quality is had with proper prep work rather than elbow grease...patient soaking is paramount.

I'm on a hash smoking binge....not smoking flowers....except pre run joints and other assorted trail joints....hash is a home smoke. Way easier on me lungs....I'm finding a rekindled love affair with the refinement.

The Pablos - I've been working on my hash quality as well. Amazing that a gentle agitation with a wooden spoon for 4 mins yields 85% of what my old technique of drywall paddle on drill did in 15 minutes! And yes the quality is way better.

I can't agree with you about the lungs though, but thats cause I usally vape my herbs. Still looking for a good way to vape hash. I am keen on trying one of the concentrate bowls like the Hot Hit.

...I admit to smoking way way too much pot....whether it be flowers or resin.

I'm working on my tincture making...but have not been fully satisfied. I have a vaporizer...somewhere...I've looked for it...perhaps sucked into a black hole as I'm unable to get a bead on it. Even so....and even though I also have a pocket vaporizer ...it doesn't seem to work in public or out on the trails....at least in simplicity and socially. I get higher off smoke...I don't know why

Tintures and edibles are for me too unpredictable.

Smoking is ritual.... shouldn't be over doing it. In this way...I'm not being completely honest with the use of the herb I grow. I find it difficult to create my own expressions and not taking the test flights...

I feel...as my own test pilot that I must smoke them as they come about. Makes it hard to stop smoking so much....I see the flaws in this endeavor....I'm constantly infused with new expressions...and therefore committed to testing all of them....not exactly healthy...and I do function in the clouds pretty much daily...wakey to the bakey etc....abuse abuse abuse....could be worse I suppose...

Failures....piss poor selection.....piece of complete shit

Failures....piss poor selection.....piece of complete shit

So...in the saga...I found a Crunge plant young in veg that had a consistent "curl leaf'....you may remember as I mentioned her before...

I saved and saved the curl leaf....so I could outcross her to Cleveland Sage...

22 days into flower....I couldn't stand growing her for another day. A gut feeling selection that fell down on the job....I felt nothing but distain for her and the time I spent gearing her up Kill Kill Kill....feed my worms you slacker....I don't care if its environmental/a pruning thing...doesn't matter...you hang my way or I'll kill you....

Failure...cut your losses...dispose the shit that gets on your nerves...don't push along with a junk expression just because you talked yourself up to it....objectively exterminate the brutes. It is a discipline to acknowledge your short comings and face up to your failures.

Cultivation Virtues:

1. rapid/aggressive/vigorous growth in all stages

2. Able to take environmental abuse and still shine

3. spacing between bud sets....I like air flow and low leaf counts

......anyway I could go on about virtues...the point is that this subject was not virtuous on many fronts...good bye...

This is a tired Sour Diesel clone that I'm flowering and partially pollinating for a local person....day 22...

I'm not in the habit of taking in clones for any reason. I'm not sure why I'm even doing this one....as I have zero interest in this clone. I do not reckon I'll be accepting anymore clones...no matter how much someone else values their worth.

I document this plant for thread accuracy....no other reason....

I will not be passing on the genetics of the pops I'm using to the interested party as a safeguard against the Club scene....for I'm sure that is where the children will go.

They can make up...whatever they want...and put their own name on it. Clone peeps..often...just don't get it... or.... they have total disregard beyond making money and yield per watt....not all of them but the majority I have encountered.

Then there are the delusional...the I-want-to-be-a-pot-star types...family values...my escalade is a few yrs old now...make- a -names...I shouldn't be so harsh...but this clone took me a month just to fix and make happy

dang, and i thought the 15,000 dollar rims on my 20 year old mountain bike were pretty fly too! yah gotta have the spin to win baby! yup,i have my very own elite clones, know everything about them too!

...when you have peeps with "connections" trying to involve you in making a specific cut for a band....it is getting retarded. On the other hand...there is nothing wrong with making money off to the side

In today's market even the pipe dreamers sometimes pull it off. Hype sells over and over....when one cut doesn't measure up there will be 3 more waiting in the wings....I have nothing against story telling. Ska bands....well there is a good market scene....as are MMA gyms...etc...I listen half in jest...anything realistic I'll hold my hand out

This Sour D clone used to be guarded by said party....not passed at all...funny all these yrs later...a pass. It be a selfish pass however...she's tired and needs revamping...all it really is under the surface bullshit. No big deal to me though...a routine/common plant...I sure as shit didn't clone her...but will take a fee in beans.

The idea of me looking through them to find "them" what they want...I scoffed and said "no way".....they need to put their own work in at that point. There was...no deal...beyond me making them some beans...they are on their own after I hand them over. If I run some of the offspring....it will be like anything else I do...outcrossed and remixed...I'll make up all kinds names and pedigrees just to amuse and confuse...

im pretty content at this point to let someone else do the selecting for me on the breeding end....i still have cuts with names like "muffin" and "tigerlilly" tho....

A Populace Casey leaning Ma Kettle

A Populace Casey leaning Ma Kettle

Acting as a replica of the Casey Jones mom (her name was Maw...grew her for probably a year or more...bred the bGezus out of her as well...a fatty stretchy female of sweet metal twinged fruit).....I decided to harvest her this morning....day 66...to give myself some evening trimming.

Very little...if any....can be seen of the Grape Krush males in her expression. She was very routine as far as cultivation or drawing notice...kind of hung out for the duration of her existence.

Nothing wrong with a plant like this....almost like a clone...she turns up (I'm finding) pretty regular like. She yields...plenty of Casey style resin and structure....and I gather...she will taste and affect the head in a Casey fashion.

Being a big fan of Casey Jones....having grown a couple packs of F1 Casey Jones....having found several yet very distinct Casey Jones phenotypes...having outcrossed often as well as inlining Casey Jones into the F3...I know Casey when I see her.

So...H3ad meets DJ Short...mashing Thai expression and sap lines...yup it has been done before....and yup there is good reason to. Like a no brainer mix...very simple

Consistently nice plants in the Ma Kettles...very predictable results and easy to pick out various influences of the parental plants.

Having tried more than a few now...I found my favorite expression was a hard BB leaner....documented a ways back....that smoke sends you into orbit. If I were taking cuts....that would have been the keeper. More potent than any BB I ever had...but still very Blue...Casey added the power upper cut....the BB brought the ornamental structure and head complexity.

I have no problems continuing on with the Ma Kettle cross...I did make the 1st incross recently as well as several outcrosses...I'll keep working that way

its too bad more breeders dont show their males, for that matter most dont even show the females that often... would you consider cloning a stand out breeding male P?

its too bad more breeders dont show their males, for that matter most dont even show the females that often... would you consider cloning a stand out breeding male P?

Absolutely...and have in the past. The Cindy Jones male was cloned and used a couple/several Xs....a Jaundice male (Bogbubble X ChemDD)....I remember those.

Much more difficult to determine the value of males unless you use them multiple Xs and on multiple females....also I like to see them used in multiple crosses.

The Cindy Jones male kicked ass....the jury is still out on the Jaundice male.

I would think that having a super stud male is worth the space and time. I do the best I can...not very scientific in my approach...but on males I like:

1. dank taste in pollen...some have it....I'm not the only one who believes so

2. aggressive/vigorous growth

3. generally stay away from auto flower males....too unpredictable in releasing pollen...I've heard not a desired breeding trait due to influencing inter sex (no idea...sounds reasonable though)

4. I like hollow stem....not pithy

5. I like a strong well branched profile...with nice spacing between branch sets....I do not like tight branch spacing

6. I like strong stanky smelling plants....shows up in veg

7. If doing an incross....making the next generation...I most always use 2 or more males and pick different expressions if possible.

8. Outcrosses I actually prefer a single stud male in lieu of multiple males....I rely on the female attributes to bring me in the ball park because females...to me...are easier to judge and almost always show back up in the outcross.

I figure if the majority of the offspring are kill... the male was a positive feature...especially in plants leaning toward his genetic line

My points of view are subject to change...but I prefer to wait and see for myself or prove it to myself....I have read quite a bit about plant breeding and understand on a limited bases...

...terrible at math so don't get too caught up in theory and percentages. Following diagrams I understand...growing...seeing 1st hand...and pollinating is how I learn. You must get dirty, gamble balls deep, and find out for yourself....at least that's how I look at it.

I remember when I started breeding my own plants...a light went on and everything became much more important. I spent a lot of money on getting the genetics I wanted...the whole time...planning where they would go.

I never thought it would come so far....at least it seems far...or that I'd be with all this expression. I seem to near always...expand full tilt into my hobbies/projects...perhaps it is a compulsive disorder.

Once you have a fridge full of beans....you realize what you must do...I'm not one to sit and wait. Every bean is a potential door into something else...but you realize just how bad the odds are stacked against you finding anything "new" without having grown shit loads of plants...and working them.

To find "the one" in a 10 pac of beans...lol...maybe...have fun and don't hold your breath. It's a hunt bigger than a 10 pac...bigger than 100 pac...this you realize with a fridge full of beans...1000s of beans in the scheme of plants...is zilch...though the hunt must start with a single bean. I LOVE beans...they are so much more exciting

Wipe Out and Cindy Moon Jones

Wipe Out and Cindy Moon Jones

I needed to get some beans germing....couldn't decide on what I wanted to do next.

I germ a lot of beans for such a small garden. Obviously not many...say but a few...make it to a finished flower. I have other stuff going that I have not documented yet. I'll get them to sex....then see how I feel about their future...but I have some Jessica Lang, some Prudence Highland, some Revolver, some Manzana Bramble....in various stages of seedling(hood)....futures yet to be determined.

I find by compiling seedlings....because they are small and so young...I have time to mess around...see what is shaping into what...check my pulse and interpret which ones I feel like growing.

Generally I like to run parallels...that is...I'll start 2 lines that I'm thinking about weaving together. At this point in my progressions...I'm most interested in mashing up in outcrosses. Not so concerned with incrossing the 1st ever runs of a cross...unless they are rare or there is some other need to get them done.

It is all about freedom when you develop a bean collection...no worry over germ rates...no concern about fucking up expensive beans etc....more of a relaxed atmosphere....and if you made them...well...it's on you and no one else for success or failure

So Uncle got me thinking....and I remembered that the only cross I made with the Cindy Jones male that I have not run yet....was Cindy Moon Jones. Then I thought about the Wipe Out cross I recently made....and how the 2 crosses might fit together....

off I went to the fridge

Cindy Jones = Casey Jones X C99BX

Cindy Moon Jones = Blue Moonshine (DJ Short) X Cindy Jones

Wipe Out = Mikado X I-HOP Grape Krush

I-HOP Grape Krush = Straw Dog F2 X Grape Krush

The commons will be in the Blues once again....Blue Moonshine the more indica of the BBs.....the Grape Krush the more sativa....still...it's Blueberry anyway you look at it.

Mikado....one plant made me a fan. Putting her with the I-HOP GK is wise and totally tight from where I'm smoking....that will be a kill shot blend I'm telling you.

I'm less sure of the Blue Moonshine....she must be slapped back...and I'm using the Cindy Jones male to do exactly that. Blue Moonshine is interesting, good stuff...though not my favorite in a straight up form. For me...it needs a kick in the ass to be brought up to date and onto the top shelf....the parts are there...just needs to be fabricated to my taste. Great foundation to work off...I used several BMS females to make several different crosses...I just realized the extent of those when I looked in the fridge....got my bang out of expensive ass Shine

T

THE PABLOS

so,you do your breeding like your running....lets go this way today and see how far i can go....

Yes....again parallels between the garden and the trails. I blaze up mnts that used to break me off....all due to practice and conditioning. Gardening or running...it is a matter of willing the results via constant repetition....practice in observation...any science comes after for me...I don't train or select a certain way...but set goals and figure out routes...there is no exactness

....no matter how great a trail is.....eventually it gets tired....and I need to find something new to run (pun intended)

Trimming up that Ma Kettle....I'll post some flower shots sometime soon....nice stuff....but nothing new...still a fine candy

Hell Hound Project Update

Hell Hound Project Update

This project is now totally sexed and consists of ClearBarbedFunk's work in the OG Kush lines and the Odessa cross I am steadily working on....

So:

SFV x Ghost X Ghost (CBF's work)

Odessa (2nd generation)= Casey Jones X Cindy Jones

Cindy Jones= Casey Jones X C99BX (H3ad)

I kept 13 of the Kush....1 male and 12 females (!) and only 5 of the Odessa....1 male and 4 females

Here are a couple pix of typical Odessa in the back and typical Kush in the front....females

Pretty nice plants. The Odessa are faster...I expected this to be the case. The OGs are not slow....just not as fast....some are, however, starting to show some legs...getting a stretch on. I've gone easy on the OGs in the pruning department figuring that they might be ill affected by Quasi Defoliations style....I am nipping leaves though.

I would like to use both males in both directions....I will most likely inline the OG into the next generation as these are the only beans I have of the cross. The Odessa...already in the 2nd generation here...will only be outcrossed. I have plenty of Odessa beans and in no hurry to push on in that direction. I used beans from my favorite 1st generation Odessa female for this project...she was a beastie.

All systems are a GO running down the Hell Hound...this will be splendid summer weed....happy with how it is shaping up

EDIT: concerning the OG Kush stuff...I started with 16 beans I think...13 made it...so there was only that single male in the batch...that's the hand

Flushing Subjects...under review

Flushing Subjects...under review

Here are 2 I-HOP Grape Krush "floppers".....I don't bother doing much in the way of branch support. I let them flop...I usually do not care for flimsy limbs but these do not bother me

Here is one of their sisters....a wk ahead...getting some MH/Fluorescent spray. She is the shortest and the quickest thus far out of the I-HOP GKs...colorful in her early 60's....she'll get the chop this week

The "mini" Chem DD (2nd generation).....tight ass nuggets....not a big girl in the stretch department...a few "s over 2'. I'd speculate that the Quasi Defoliations kept her this way. Not my favorite DD...but for her size she will yield well...you can feel the compression....a zip+1/2 (maybe 2) on a plant this size ain't that bad...she is tight

The Unknown Summer (*refer to post #830 for background).....can't get a read on this one...but I'd still lean to the Odessa as the pops. Problem free...smells nice...good resin production...blah blah blah...see her when she is done...should be a swell toke

Unknown Summer= Summertime Rolls X Odessa or Sweet Milk

Odessa= Casey Jones X Cindy Jones

Cindy Jones= Casey Jones X C99BX (H3ad)

Sweet Milk= Gumblebum (H3ad) X LUI

I-HOP GK= Strawberry Dog F2 X Grape Krush

Summertime Rolls= ChemDD X TFlux Highland

TFlux Highland= Flo x ChemDD X Highland Mex x Blueberry

Ever hear of "Conglomerate"? Ace's Congo X the Grape Krush males.....maybe maybe maybe...takes a little ride out that way

Yup it is a major pita keeping it straight for threading purposes. You should see my scribble in the pages of notebooks, on the walls, on work benches...creased in my mind....

I'm almost to that bucket-no-knowledge point. This organization business is for someone else I tell you. Part of me is very detailed and part of me....says fuck it.

I would not expect anyone to keep up...back to my yard work
