Prelude... To A Come Up

Whiskeys been working great...until I wake up shivering. Still haven't called the repair guy yet because it looks like the second coming of Christ in my back room. Had to fire up another 600w back there to keep the plants from dying.
Soon as my feet thaw out i'm off to get a new pack of locks n' a key lol

It's a lil' messy still, but it works.

I've got to clean up the wiring, throw some more lights in the right hand side, light proof it...just general fucking around. The great news is the carbon scrubber works excellent. Cab's 3 ft. behind me n' I can't smell a thing.

Thanks wild, yeah the fan sounds like the aquarium actually. I've got it turned all the way down as far it'll go on the router speed controller. When I turn it up to 3 or four it quiets down considerably but cools the cab to much...think I"ll try n' get a few more bulbs in there tonight to warm it up.
To my understanding the router speed controller is the wrong tool for the job...need to get something that decreases amperage going to the motor to slow it down instead or something like that lol.

Stay safe.

Yeah I'm not gonna lie...I'm finally lucking out for a change, shits gonna be nice n' stealth. Maybe if I can figure out how to make a youtube video I can try to put something together.
Just heading out to get some weather stripping n' other lil' things to keep me busy this weekend. :tiphat:

Is that fan sitting directly on the wood? If it is, that will cause the noise to amplify and I'd stick some foam or insulation of some type between the wood and the fan body.

Been a week huh? Well not too much going on...

This will most likely be the cab's light set up.

Heres a run down of the new math and whatnot after remeasuring the cab with Reflectix and light-proofing.

12" Depth x 21.5" Width = 258"

258" / 144 = 1.79 sqft.

10, 23w bulbs is 230w

230w / 1.79 = 129w per square foot

I want to run 5, 2700k bulbs at 1700 initial lumens = 8500 lumens
I want to run 5, 6500k bulbs at 1600 initial lumens = 8000 lumens

16,500 lumens / 1.79sqft = 9217 lumens per sqft.

It's to my understanding the sun on a bright day averages 10,000 lumens per sqft ... so I think we'll be fine with that.

picture.php

If need be, more bulbs can be added.

The aquarium pump for the bubble cloner makes more noise then the exhaust set-up. ....so it's gotta go. Gonna use Jiffy peat pucks. Might use a rooting hormone...but probably won't. (comparisons I've done in the past haven't proved its better to use a rooting agent then not to use one....this is most likely due to the conditions I clone in. No dome/always moist pucks/etc.)

Here is one with everyone lifted to the light. Except number 5. "It" sits down there beside the cloner as "it's" special to me...special in the way its clone rooted faster then the rest.

picture.php

**Still to do

-finish light proofing
-finish air intake/exhaust
-get coco
-install timer

I'm not going to worry about the intake/exhaust system right away as the last thing I need is faster air cycling...having a hard enuff time keeping the temps up. It's at 70F at the moment. :pointlaug ...lol...yeah I know...me n' my problems.

Stay safe folks.

The cab is looking great!

Do you have specific layout, like alternating 2700k,6500k,2700k etc, for the 2700k/6500k bulbs?

They do make really quiet aquarium pumps. A pump is also something you probably want to have sitting on a soft surface to absorb the vibration. Can't really tell from your pics, but it appears that the pump is sitting on top of the cloner instead of on the padding?

I wouldn't worry about lumens, they aren't cumulative so you can't really add them up. You have plenty of watts of light per sq ft.

Thank ya. I have a feeling it's gonna be a work in process for a lil' while.

I was just gonna stagger the bulbs in the pattern you mentioned.

The aquarium pump is sitting on its rubber feet on a cloth and rubber heating pad. I tried suspending it but it's still too damn noisy. I have more then a handfull of these type pumps sitting around from when I kept moms in DWC bubble buckets so I might try to find the quietest one of the bunch.

Yeah lumens aren't high on my list of things to give a tinkers fuck about...some people like to see numbers though...me I could care less. :tiphat:

Contrary to my last post...numbers are starting to become important...as in temperature numbers..

No noticeable growth, yellowing of leaves. (so i cut 'em off) Was 6C in my livingroom yesterday morning. Can't imagine how cold it was in the backroom.

I had the furnace repair guy over the other day. He fixed it, billed me $200, and it broke again 10 hours later. Said fuck it...went n' bought some oil filled heaters.

So a few hours ago I moved the cab into my bedroom...figured what the hell, try to heat that room with the exhaust. It's not really working worth a shit. But were holding at 18C (inside the cab, ambient is fukn' 10C)

picture.php

Surprised they haven't died or went into flowering.

The clones are in some kind of status lol...suspended animation type shit. Or their frozen cock stiff n' will die after the thaw...we'll see.

picture.php

I also staggered the bulbs between the 2700k and the 6500k temps...broke and then repaired the scrubber during the move. (forgot the top just sits there and isn't screwed into place...carbon everywhere)

Heres a question the CFL crowd might have an answer for. I pulled the power to the unit. (from the wall) Took about 10 minutes to set up in its new location. As I screwed in the bulbs again they were flickering. WTF? Power left in the lamp cords or sockets?

ahh...I'm gonna go take a group shot. For posterity.

That fan is perfect for that cab's size. He's running a good sized scrubber. You wouldn't want to try to run that scrubber with computer fans.

Im sure you could generate plenty of heat for your plants if you just put your fan on some kind of timer or thermostat...

Thanks for the reply's folks. :tiphat:

Had the timer set for 30 seconds on 5 minutes off. Any less 'on' time and fan hardly gets spinning to move any air.
But like mentioned the fan pulls shit tons of air ...so it would bring the temps from 26C to ambient 3C or 4C with in that 30 seconds. Kinda why I thought they might have shocked themselves into flowering.

I'm with blynx, the fan is perfect. It's the ambient temperature I can't control. Come the summer months I'll be glad its there.

Hey there newtothiscoco. The Flora Nova Gro I usually use for veg is a 1 part, and was lost when I moved...(like some fucking seeds and misc grow gear unfortunately....)

Stay safe folks.

Keep trying, youll get it. ;)

Got an incandescent bulb laying around? That would add some heat to your cab.
