Wholesale pot prices plummet. Now there starting to get better

Non-med state. About 35-40 here, tops and lowers mixed, grade A cured.

25-30 for no cure, sloppy trim. Likely won't get any main colas, either.

Dang that's expensive. A friend locally getting offers at 12 for his very decent outdoor yet holds out for 16 or it doesn't move out the door.

i know some guys in mendo that have only sold 10% of their harvest because they want to wait it out for 17-18 in the summer. gotta have your storage game on point...if its just turkey bag the smell will decrease and it will start turning brown.

I think the legal aspect has a pretty big part of it, penalties here are fairly harsh, guys get 6mo-1yr for possession of a roach in an ashtray.

The prices I stated are "typical" for my area. Supply is limited, but not scarce... finding a elbow would be a hurdle itself... "wholesale" around here for top-shelf is measured in QPs and HPs, which run ~1.2 and 2 approximately.

Most of the shit around here is cheap low-grade $15-20/8th bullshit, and that's what everyone seems to want. The flip game is where the big players around here make their money. That shit runs about $600-800/lb.

The "thug culture" really exists. Nothing wrong with bringing it up. If you don't see it, you're not paying attention.

Hey RG - I DO see it especially Here in the Midwest's most violent Metro Area. And race has nothing to do with it. Purple, Pink, and orange, Punks know no color. But, it DOES occur where Thuggery and race DO intertwine. Then it gets even MORE dangerous..

People lock each other out of grow warehouses when the plants are 1 week from finish - at the drop of a hat. Mature individuals in their 50's..! I am appalled at the stories that I hear at the Grow shop.

Craigslist deals are quite dangerous potentially - I have experienced this firsthand. No, I Didn't want the whole oz of bubble hash, never said that I did - but the Mountain of a Man decided that He wanted to fight about it.. I quickly amscrayed. He was beyond Huge. I didn't see the point of altercation.

Advised a Clone dealer that He had Broad Mites, and He threatened my life for mentioning it. He had a broken arm, and was rather small. I could take Him, no prob. UNLESS HE IS ARMED. I'm guessing that He was.. He was no match for Me.

At the same time, Punk-ass Clone dealer also went into a Grow Shop where I know the Manager, and asked about Me. Also, He was wanting more information about Broad Mites..! haha..

Concealed weapons permits are quite popular in the Hatred area.
Tons of weapons, everyone's packing. Many Many carry. Everyone afraid of their own shadow. Too Much TV.. If I was that way, I never would have been able to function or grow in the Em Tri for 10 years..! There were a few times my NorCal grow was being cased... I managed to ward them off. I did it with NO guns, and NO Dog.. No incidents. Just My Brain/psychological warfare. Now, that's courage.

Money rules, in this Midwest status-conscious state with no joy during the winter months, so there ya go. I am considering getting out of growing, and using my brain primarily instead.

There was recently a survey that claimed that 80% of customers who buy herb prefer cheaper price over quality.

edit: i think this survey was taken in CO at the opening of legal pot sales, cant seem to find a link to the news story where i found it, but it was an article on the new CO legal pot sales.

demand is rising

yes4- yea maybe its similar to the beer/wine setup; cheaper stuff moves most in volume, but there is a steady heady market as well. Seems like most alcoholics drink shitty stuff though...bammer mersh = natty ice?? lol

i was actually surprised at the numbers i thought it would be half n half since theres so many pot snobs nowadays...eighty percent is a huge chunk of the market, which makes sense because cheap cali outs are moving wayyy easier than indoors. i have friends who have been sitting on indoor for weeks because no one wants to pay more for that shit, i know a few breakdown delivery service guys in the bay area who are say most of their business is for 20-30 eights of popcorn outdoor, and zips for a hundred of some outdoor moving easier than zips of good indoor for two.

and with outdoor quality as high as it is this year, and with CARE setting stricter power use limits, indoor growers who dont have their game on point should be scared.

seemed like last year was better for OD...at least judging from what I've seen...which I'm sure is a fraction of what you've seen this season. prices went up and quality went down judging by what I've seen...last season there were rack packs all over the place that were proper-ish light green and stinky(they got flipped as in's and there was definitely a double up margin to be had)

I aint scared...I pay full price for my power as it is ;)

^^ i've been saying this for awhile. the problem is that there are not too many really great od commercial strains available now imo. there are lots af awesome personal smoke od strains. golden tiger, banghi haze, panama, blue dream, ssh, mango haze, a few of kc brains older seed stock still preserved and in private hands come to mind as excellent od strains to run. the od growers went indoors due to heli's and other od surveillance that was borderline fanatical.

i'm old enough to have seen od grown herb that had tremendous bag appeal. it is doable. if the od grows start producing tons of really good smoke with great bag appeal then we have a big time gamechanger.

the general public is a bunch of cheap asses and price will drive a lot of sales. machine trimmed premium od strains can sell for $60usd/oz and fetch $2 million a ton. the new metrics will measure od grows by tonnage and this will change the game big time.

Maybe we get a great run in growing weather and average to poor growers continue to pull off good harvests of decent quality herb. Last time I saw a bad weather year only the better growers held up OK and a lot suffered. Get on your game because it will always pay dividends good year or not.

If the weather stays the way it has the past few years in Cali only gonna make it more difficult for those indoors. I have some indoor grower friends and really hurting right now. The game has really changed.

If outdoor can go big by the acre in Cali what you'll see are rows of plants with fertigation, machine processing, etc. Some practices I see many use now won't be cost effective on a large scale. No more smartpots, teas, etc. They'll just work with native soil and build it from there. There's agronomists out there chomping at the bit to see this change happen. Quality won't suffer if done right and probably better than a lot of what people are currently doing as they bring their experience and science into play. We'll see.

I've moved on to getting involved with people selling the picks and shovels and gotten away from gold mining.

^^ the suppliers (lumber, hardware, prostitution, gambling, food, booze, etc...) made out huge during the great gold rush. the miners mostly suffered.

the bean game with grail od commercial strains could get extremely lucrative.

I'm looking 5 years out.

It's not that there aren't good strains being run now it's mainly that most growers are clueless, lazy, not interested in learning the science, buying into the myths and hype about growing, not doing any testing, etc. I'm working with some agronomists now getting into canna cultivation. We've got some VERY interesting things planned for this year to set up for next. Got an OD friend in CO now working with them already and will be an AWESOME year for him. He's basically getting top tier agronomist consulting, some testing fees covered, free testing equipment, dirt cheap nutes for their program specific to his enviro/soil/etc. Next year that won't happen for peeps. I'm tired of dealing with yahoos and want in with the real pros. Adapt or die.

BTW we're talking about organic growing on a large scale. They say food should be your medicine and your canna medicine should express it's genetic potential. We're gonna test, test and test. The time for guessing is over. I'm in!
