i have a question for everyone... there was some talk earlier about terps playing a large role in potency and that makes sense but if that holds true, then how do we account for the difference in potecy, strenth, duration, etc... when i comes to the trichomes ripening and the difference between plants cut a little early with mostly clear trchs and then those that are cut late with mostly amber trichs and everything in between? the flavor or terp profile remains very simmilar if not the same and yet there is a difference in potency, effect, etc.

I've had berry strains that lose their fruit flavor, and develop other smells and tastes the longer they go. Some of the blueberry strains I have run, go from the BB smell/taste at 8-10 weeks and then develop a BO or Skunk smell/taste after this.

Terpenes are also something that I tend to notice once they enter my bloodstream. There seems to be a fruity feeling traveling through my body on top of the THC/CBD. I find Lemonine to be the most recognizable terpene, of the ones I have tried.

you may have something there... i notice my B.O smells like og.. lol.. probably because i smoke alot of og and chem family strains. funny but true. my girlfriend noticed the same thing. weird.. are any isolated terpenes available for scientific research and lab testing? i would love to see more studies done on the effects of pure terps. this is very interesting, if im following correctly, the terps have a direct effect on our brain chemistry (aromatherapy)? and when i was referencing flavor or terp profiles changing or not changing much i was thinking about the difference between a plant in about a week long window. if there's a difference of more than a week between harvesting, the flavor profile does tend to change alot more.

I'm thinking you'll move those 2#s real soon. A bit like real estate, or the stock market at the moment. Now that the retail supply is mostly gone, and the demand/appetite, has been awakened.

Yeah, your right. Even if I don't, I won't complain about having too much chronic - ok I will sometimes, but I should not. I'm an idealist....it can be painful...lol.

Is the cgb still around? I thought it suffered a similar fate as the Dog (lost/hidden). I've seen the threads claiming it might be DogBud.

I agree with the hermmie hypothesis because so many herrmies have been found in the Chem line but we should not forget how much outdoor cultivation goes on in that part of the world. 7 seeds could have been from stray pollen blown in.

Additional thoughts:

1) Until the trichs mature the THC levels are lower and therefore THC/CB?/Terp ratios different. THC precursors would abound but a lot of the THC is still being produced. These compounds may effect the high just like terpenes and other cannabinoids

2) You included "the smell remains relatively the same" but I suspect that very minor variations can have profound effects because not all of the chemicals are potent aromatics. If you smell a jar of BHO it is almost odorless compared to a bottle of 1-8 cineol or limonene.

3) Terpenes are derived from each other. That is, one is often a precursor to the next so the most complicated terpenes would need more time to form. Some are found in tiny quantities and might only be produced in the final days.

This is not from Cannabis so it may be very different in Cannabis but it shows the relation of the terpenes and how similar they are (chemically that is).

Virtually all of them. Many are available to everyone via ebay/amazon.

They also make great natural pesticides.

One of the oil companies in Cali is "cutting" their oil with 5% Limonene. People have speculated they are using it as a solvent and cant get it all out...lol. Either way, its a terp infused product.

Gotta remember NVL got busted in Holland not long before Mr Nice was created . So only NVL and Jah know what cuts were still in his stable and what seeds were not tipped on the floor by the police , when he was bought out by Shanti .

the story going around my circle (not saying its "the truth") dosnt have anything todo with this guy. im told it originated in 1990 in (near) garberville/ redway, which is 2 small towns close to eachother. anyways the genentics from what i understand is petrolia headstash back crossed several time into a stable ibl. herojuan is a pure indica and breeds true, thats why there are so many hybrids with similar phenos available. for some the woodhorse line is from steve tucks' hybrid of it with a kentucky sativa.

not saying this is gospel, just what i heard. regaurdless its a killer strain and i have been looking for a good cut of this for years with no luck.

That bud going around Garberville in 1990 could very well be the dog bud we were getting in Crested Butte. I am saying we sold the dog bud to Chem and he is why there is Chem 91, Sour D, OG kush etc etc. Those 12 seeds he found in one of the oz is what created many many strains that are out there today. Now Swerve has a lot of these genetics for anyone to buy. I think that is great compared to finding great genetics long ago.

I think I found one the terpene/curing connection.

These quotes are from various unrelated sources but together they help tell the story

1) Expected degradation products of d-limonene are I-carvone, carveol and alpha-terpineol
2) Myrcene contributes mightily to the infamous “couch-lock” experience, Russo maintains.
3) Myrcene can be made from b pinene (with heat, IDK about without but maybe?)
4) All of the reactions of terpenes are notorious for low yields because many competing reactions are occurring at the same time at any given conditions (when converting one to another)
5) Aged hop oil exposed to oxygen has reduced myrcene
