Zamaldelica - The Search for Trip Weed

Coming soon to a theater near you - photos of my soon-to-be harvested Zamaldelica. Going on 15 weeks, still shooting out white pistils o' glory and possibly the most productive plant I have ever grown. In fact the reason that I don't have any pictures is 'coz she is sooo tied up...anchored to the walls to keep her from falling over in every which way. Budular anarchy. It's ironic because I was seriously thinking of culling her a few weeks into the flower period coz she was doing nothing but taking up space. Very tiny little buds and calyx patches. Switched her (and her cousins) to 11/13 and BAM! She went berserk. Interstellar overdrive.

The buds are HUGE and dense - although I bet they will be quite airy...hard to tell. I have a mind to let her go beyond 15 weeks but logistics (travel plans) may win out. As it is, even though she is still shooting pistils, she is bespattered with resin. To touch her is to get sticky. Her high is incomparable and VERY long lasting - waves. Gave me religion last night. So - her time draws nigh. I may harvest in waves to get potentially different stages of cannabinoid development. But before I do that, I will try to take some pics of her to show here.

Thanks for such a great and informative thread, TB.

Hey all out there in Zam World! These are quick pics of the "popcorn" branches that I culled from the bottom of my Zamaldelica last week - it was to celebrate her 14th week of 12/12. She is currently steamin' towards 15 weeks (on Wednesday).

Looks awesome Mayan. Really resinous also. Much more airy than my individual.

Mine only went 9 weeks. But I use very little nitrogen, I started at 11.75 daylight then down to 11.5 for the last few weeks. Most of the buds had almost all dead pistils. One bud was definitely too early, but it was the only one that looked that way. It was not the top bud either. I've got to get some pictures posted next weekend.

Can't wait for your smoke report.

Dam fine buds!!
Yours look better than mine, but not that much, but still, it's clearly visible.
You probably have more experience.
Something I've been noticing lately is that I need to give more Ca/Mg.
I give some fossilized coral, but apparently not enough.

Update on the 3 Zamaldelicas...the one in the white pot is the confirmed female, it's Zamaldelica 2. The other plants, numbered 1 and 4, showed one or two male preflowers each on an earlier stage but then started throwing more and more pistils. The 3 of them came home today but the 2 "hermies" will go to another place tomorrow. They look down and a little damaged cause they were taken here in a box and weren't having a nice time the last couple of weeks, as we're in a 33+ degrees hell everyday.

One thing I must say...I would be definitely growing these genetics all my life if I could, and I haven't even finished my first 3 plants!!. You can tell they're something special while growing them, at least that's how I feel. The smell on the Z2 and Z4 is really impressive...mango/catpiss all the way, so strong that when I rub the stems I feel more than one (myself included) we'll be knocked out by these ladies...

Sweet-Emotion,

The picture of the leaf with your hand behind it looks just like the one I just harvested. I love that look.

Hi Thai!, yes, it's the female, she's really beautiful and smells so good. These are some special genetics. It's a real trip to grow them and I'm happy I'll be able to see her finish here at home. :dance013:

This one is for ThaiBliss in particular: I vaped a little of my femmed Zamaldelica yesterday, and I must say it really was kind of a trippy experience. Not trippy as in hallucinogenic, but as in feeling afterwards as if I had been lifted out of time and space. Very powerful stuff, I couldn't follow the plot of the tv show 'Elementary' any more. I must add this was also the first 'smoke' I had in 2 weeks. But you do the same if I remember correctly, smoking occasionally and aiming for an intense experience.

Unfortunately, my Z did not have that clarity that I enjoy so much. I have some Kali Mist that does that. Strangely, a early sample I quick-dried in the microwave did have that clarity also.

Yes could be, but there are clear strains that don't have Thai in it. Kali Mist, Hawaiian Snow, Bangi Haze come to mind...

Cool description of the weed, one of my glitches is that microwave drying drives me nuts, try drying weed in your vaporizer, muy bueno, and then you can bong it, get the full effect instead of breaking it down in the microwave

Hi MostlyMe,

You have the feminized version? I love the clear clean energetic high also, and the Bangi Haze came to mind as a recommendation as I was reading your post. Glad to hear you already have tried it.

Your description of the time and space distortions excite me as these are also hallmarks of the highs that I love. I don't really like being dragged down by them physically, so if there is some energetic qualities at the time, I would be happy.

I want to get a greenhouse someday, so that I can grow until November 1 in soil without lights. I'm keeping those Bangi Haze seeds I have left in reserve in case I find the very potent plant I am looking for. I'm thinking that the Bangi could help bring down the ripening date as well as refine the high by adding clarity and energetic qualities of a potent trippy weed. Maybe not, but half the fun is experimenting.

Due to an experience I had, where a ho hum plant got incredibly potent when I let it go two weeks longer than I had been, I have been letting my plants go a bit longer than I usually do. I believe it has been lowering the quality in the way you are describing, so I'm back to harvesting a bit on the early side compared to what I am seeing with most growers on ICMAG. I already harvested my Zamaldelica plant, and I did it a touch earlier than most. I'll let you know when it dries, and I test. In order to get the most out of a strain, I think it is important to have an intimate knowledge of it by growing it more than a few times under different conditions.

There is a person, Raco, that judging from the pictures that are posted, is one of the best growers and curing specialists that I have seen on ICMAG. If you have not come across Raco's posts, you should search Raco out. Raco is not much of a talker, at least in English, but the posts are phenomenal for interesting strains that look exceptionally well grown and cured. Raco is a master. I have seen some of Raco's pictures that show a sprinkling of still white pistils when Raco cuts. I'm going back to that harvest window, and judging from your experience with Zamaldelica, and preferences for the high, I'd grow it again and harvest earlier. Thanks for the heads up.

B.T.W., I have heard great things about pre-98 Kali Mist. It that the version you have? Either way, you are lucky to have a good strain that you love.

I can't believe I didn't think of that! My only excuse: I was smoking joints exclusively at the time, but I am trying to cut on my nicotine intake.

@TB: I tried Bangi, but I have yet to grow it myself. It's high on my list.

I agree harvesting my Z earlier would probably have been better for the clarity, but the energetic part was definitely there. Really got my mind going. Glad you harvested a little early too, can't wait to read your smoke report.

I'll check out Raco, thanks.

My Kali Mist is commercial, I don't know if it's pre-98. I do detect a little indica in it, so probably not. But it is a great sativa nonetheless! But this is coming from a guy who likes both indica and sativa.

Zamaldelica - Harvested 16 Weeks from 12/12

Zamaldelica - Harvested 16 Weeks from 12/12

You've seen the coming attractions. Here's the rest o' her. Quite an amazing plant. Her whole hydra-headed magnificence sprang up on on a single main stalk. Took her down. 16 weeks. Almost 4 months spent with an unusual vegetative being. Kinda hate to see her go. I probably could have taken her A great run!!

So...she grew up to be 5 plus feet. Almost as tall as I. She would not be denied and ended up trussed and splinted and engineered but she still needed cabled to the walls. When liberated, she immediately went into budular anarachy and flopped into psychedelic chaos. When dubi says bushy, he means it. This grew like a hedge - straight up but was bud from top to bottom - last week's sneak preview was some of the "popcorn" from the bottom. As you can see from one of the thumbs, she had single finger leaves and VERY slender.

She was still pushing out some pistils and probably could have used some more time - but so do all of us, eh? As it is, she is incredibly resinous. Sticky fingers!

Growing logistics - coco, three gallon smart pots, 1000k light, grown from seed - placed under 12/12 at about 12". She flowered very slowly but I switched to 11/13 and that seemed to kick her into overdrive. I also topped her once because she was getting too long and thin - which caused her to explode geometrically.

Her scent is sweet and carrot - although, I have vaped a sample or two and there is a VERY strong taste of anise. It's delicious smoke.

Hope you enjoy the pics.
